One of the great elements of BABYMETAL is that there is no sexualization. Their costumes and dances make women look beautiful and cool without sexualizing them. Even when they spread their legs wide, you can feel their strength, but you never feel sexualized by BABYMETAL 😊.

Sugoi! A top 3 BABYMETAL song for me, also love the choreo! This was a post-Yui performance. The 3rd girl here with Su & Moa is Kano Fujihira, who also appeared in the Pa Pa Ya & Shanti, Shanti, Shanti videos. Weird... does she only appear in songs in which a word in the title is repeated at least twice?

Nice one, glad you liked this. I was never really interested in dance or choreography and for years I certainly never thought I needed it when I was watching and listening to metal.
BABYMETAL have made me appreciate it and I think that is at least in part because they don't just do the same movements or dance the same as just about everybody else I've seen who dances or uses dancers where they dip into and limit themselves to the grab-bag of standard street dance moves or of whatever other dance styles are popular.
It is the fact their choreo is bespoke for each song, tailored for them, often following or helping with interpreting the lyrics or the meaning of the song, but also so often aimed at involving the crowd that makes it stand out.
Are you sure 'street' dancing would be right for this song - it has a Latin vibe and I'd have thought having some flamenco type moves must surely fit far better?
Did you notice how smoothly Moa appeared in the centre for her "Tico tico ting tico tico ting tico tico ting ting ting" lines and Su became a dancer at the side and then one spin and Su was centre again for the next part of the song?
As commented below, Yui last performed in October 2017. If you see a performance after 2018 with three of them that will be Su and Moa with one of the Avengers (in this instance that was Kano).
I think flamenco is too obvious given it’s a metal group, so hints of Latin dance within a street style could work- well should work really. I’ll have to play around with some choreography when I’m at my dance studio
I love how Babymetal experimented and created a whole roster of songs that are influenced by other cultures. Makes it so fun for everyone to enjoy.
One thing I love about Mikiko's choreography is these quick hand movements. It's a very strong feature of her. She is the same choreographer for Perfume and Sakura Gakuin, and especially for Perfume this feature of the hands is much more noticeable. I love Night Night Burn, the music and choreography are so catchy! ❤️

I'm thrilled you got back to BABYMETAL so quickly.
'Night Night Burn!' is a song that really flew under the radar.
It would probably have received more attention if it had a guest artist who was well known from a Latin genre.
There has been just one live performance of this one so far (The first LEGEND - METAL GALAXY concert on January 25th, 2020).
The supporting dancer was Kano Fujihira.
This one has actually been in the works since the 'Megitsune' days.
Apparently it changed a lot from the earliest versions before it was finally released.
The "Latinization" seems to have been pretty recent.
It's a shame the BABYMETAL concerts scheduled for June 2020 in Madrid and Barcelona were cancelled.
This song would have brought down the roof.
Nice reaction. I always enjoy this song. Babymetal started with Doki Doki Morning a song about waking up late. And all these years later Babymetal is still letting us know why they wake up late. Night Night Burn. Partying all night long and getting everyone to party with them. These ladies can do it all. Except wake up on time. lol.

Hopefully there will be more choreographers choreographing for metal. Then there may be a type of dance called metal in the future.

I picked the most relevant part from an interview in PMC magazine (vol.15) translated by ATMYBABEL:
*PMC:* Have your awareness to musical sound during live performance changed recently? Like how you listen to your in-ear monitor?
*MOAMETAL:* Well, let me see. I basically listen only to SU-METAL’s voice. However, since each dancer in the “Avenger” series has her own way of dancing to the rhythm and sound, I may be more aware visually, rather than aurally, of the supporting dancer. Like, “she is now going a little faster (rhythmically), so I would adjust to her”.
*PMC:* Can you be a little more specific?
*MOAMETAL:* Mikiko-sensei’s choreography is based more on song lyrics than on its rhythm. Therefore, I would try to dance in such a way that I can express the meaning of lyrics nicely, while being in tempo as accurate as possible.
The whole interview is a good read and Su was of course also there. PMC also interviewed Mikiko in the same issue. Both interviews can be found translated on Reddit.
If they danced like street dancers I might be disappointed.

"Good coordination", "good lines". Someone once described Babymetal as a well oiled machine. I am an engineer, so this metaphor resonates with me a lot.
Another BABYMETAL song with cultural Appreciation like you said with Shanti Shanti Shanti. They can do anything and they do it well! Su, Moa, and Kano in this performance killed it. And of course the Kami band is always amazing. 🤘🦊🤘

Yui's last performance was back in 2017 and this is from their newer Metal Galaxy tour.

YuiMetal isn't in this performance or any other after 2018.
This one is another song from Metal Galaxy 3rd album about traveling around the metal galaxy and the world gathering different unique rhythms. This time with salsa (?) metal, a latin flavor hot night featuring MoaMetal Tico Tico Ting.💃
Song got some lose Spanish words like "Hola" and "Ole" but mixed with Italian like "Mamma Mia", so is part of the latin language after all.
Love that acoustic guitar touch too.
Kano Fujihira (another former SG member and currently with her own J-pop group "onefive") is the avenger on this live at Legend Metal Galaxy 2020 filling the third spot that YuiMetal left, performing this song which currently got the crown among some other few BM songs with only one time being performed, pretty sure this song would have been a blast during live tour, especially in Spain before the cancelled tour because of the lockdown.
And like i told you before, this is another top 3 hardest songs to dance for MoaMetal, probably that's the reason they didn't performed this so much times.

Mikiko was the producer of the Tokyo Olympics last year and was involved in the direction of the ceremony, but for various reasons, she resigned in the middle of the ceremony.
I feel that without her direction, the Olympic ceremony would have been very mediocre and of poor quality. I would have liked to see Mikiko's direction.
She is not just a choreographer, she is a great director.

Thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。 This song has been performed only once to date (on Jan. 25, 2020) and I witnessed it at the venue. ヽ(^o^)丿I love this playful dance moves.
The title "Night Night Burn" may sound strange to you. This is one example of word plays and puns in BABYMETAL songs. I believe it has something to do with "peekaboo" in Japanese. When I play with a baby, I say "inai inai! covering my face with hands then open them saying "bah!" showing my face. Japanese barely pronounce "i" in this case, so sounds like "nai nai bah". When I heard the title of this song for the first time, it reminded me of it. So did many Japanese people. This Latin-flavored cheerful song dandles and tickles grownups and makes them smile.

Night Night Burn is great for me as i do like Santana, and it has their vibe .I am looking forward to your take on the courography 😁 i am not a big fan of KPop style. I watched a video short, which popped up between BabyMetal shorts, which had incredibly over sexulising the dance moves to the point i thought i was watching a lap dancing video ( not that i have seen lap dancing 😳 )I am just happy BabyMetal have always as you said being Classy another part of there appeal 😁 and just mention the position changing of Su and Moa is seamless and performed elegantly . Sometimes, they change position without being noticed. Probably, the triangle formation has a lot to do with it ❤️🤘🏼🦊🤘🏼

Also, Yui isn't part of this show. She left the band late 2018, so anything 2019 afterwards has the Avenger back up dancers, most likely Riho Sayashi for their big venue gigs like this one (she is the one with her hair up in two balls)
This song was recently uploaded by Mirei Nakamoto, a well-known BM fan in Japan, and her fellow professional musicians, who have uploaded a very cool cover of the song.
I think Mirei-sensei did a song cover (only singing) without a dance choreo yet. I was planning to recommend Xiaouiris to watch Mirei Nakamoto with another song but you won with the wrong song 😝

Funny you mentioned street dancing, cos until you brought up this subject it never occured to me that Babymetal's choreography never does/did feature that style even though they have very sharp, precise and jerky moves in all of their songs.
Well except one track - BxMxC. Their live performances of this song incorporate much street dancing style I think (You gotta check that out). Not sure if you know that Yui has left the group in 2018, but one of her rotating replacements from 2019-2021 was a girl named Riho (Sayashi)...she was trained in NY including in street dance (style). In the song BxMxC it just shows how much more comfortable and suited she looks to the choreography. Moa on the other hand, does the sharp, jerrky and precise moves the usual cute Babymetal way...
Ohh and BxMxC is a legit rap-metal banger too. It's like a serving of the greesiest fried chicken along with your favorite ice cream flavor topped by absinthe )))

@@xiaouirisAs you may recall from the guide, Yui's position in the choreo was filled by one of three dancers called "Avengers", but one of the things which changed the most was Moa. She had the responsibility not only of training the three but also of adjusting herself as might be necessary to their individual traits because the end result had to be in sync, and she now had full responsibility for that aspect of Babymetal. You noticed the result of that hard work in this one, which was made easier by Kano being extremely compatible. But Moa overall took another big step up as a professional from all her hard work and dedication during this period of time.
What you would see with Riho, as Julius brought up, is a dancer with her own distinct background and strengths, and when the song BxMxC arrived it was right in Riho's wheelhouse with street dance, and not in Moa's at all. You can actually see the progression from the early to later performances (via fancams) as Moa learned from Riho how to make this dance land, rather than the other way around. Of the three Avengers, Riho was the most standout as an individual, with the upside of bringing positive new elements into the performance and the potential downside of not blending/vanishing into the perfectly synched symmetrical pair with Moa.
When Riho was in ASH ("Actor's School Hiroshima", for performing arts) along with Suzuka, before Sakura Gakuin*, she was known as the best dancer in the school. She and Su were standout talents during their time there.
* ("gah-koo-in", with equal emphasis, is how most English speakers say it and expect to hear it, though the last syllable is properly closer to "-een")

I admit I didn't pay "Night Night Burn" much attention when the studio version came out. But all changed when I watched this unique (literally) live performance. So here is the importance of the choreo and all the little and big things they put on stage.
The third member here is Kano Fujihira. But don't worry, mistaking her for Yui is a huge compliment. As a matter of fact, she killed it.

Yes.. I mention in your "Yava" reaction at the Fox Festivals that it was the last time Yui performed along with the last time the real Kami band did a intro solo. That was all in 2017. About 3 years before this.

I think that Yui had already left the group by the time of this concert and the other dancer could be Riho Sayashi or Kano Fujihira who were part of the Avengers. It's definitely not Momoko Okazaki, who worked the last performances in 2021 for the 10 day Budokan concert series.
I don't know if this ever came up. But, it's a fun thing to know.
While there are multiple ways to write kanji names that sounds the same in Japanese.
Moa's name is written as 最愛, which means the most love, Mo=最-Most ； a-愛-Love.
Moa means, the most love, the most loved, favorite.
And you can imagine how happy Moa is when she can signs in English instead of in Kanji. As 最愛 is so much more to write.

@@xiaouiris It's not 100%, but we she is the same height as moa, those are girls we know are Moa's friends, she is wearing the same watch as Moa. So high likelihood it is Moa. We know Momoko is one of them, and Momoko was the third dancer in Night Night Burn - Yui left in 2017.

@@xiaouiris some people are convinced that it is Moa, others are not. Personally, I don’t think that girl is Moa. Moa is extremely muscular, the girl in the video, not so much. Also, the girl in the video does not pop as much as Moa does, but that is K-pop choreography - Moa has, not once, commented on liking K-Pop, preferring either Japanese idols (a group called C=ute, in particular) or Rock/Metal bands. So it could be that she did not care to do it like she does Babymetal dances.

We just discussed this on discord- the unknown dancer has the same dancing lines as Moa, however any dancer can manipulate their lines to copy someone else. It’s honestly hard to tell if it’s her!

I might be wrong, but I think that the Latin beat to the song is driving the movements you are talking about. I don't think it has anything to do with street dance in this case, and the sharp hand movements seem to be a staple of Mikiko's choreography. If you take a look at the rooftop dance scene in the 1960 movie version of West Side Story you will see similar movements, even though they are more pronounced by way of artistic license. I've been a devotee of Latin music since I was a teenager and got really into the classic mambo style of Tito Puente, Ricardo Rey, Ray Baretto, Mongo Santamaria, Eddie Palmieri and Machito back in the middle 1960's through the end of the 1980's, when "salsa" became in vogue. It was much more flashy and lost some of the substance of the classic style. And when I met my ex-wife, who was Latin, I ended up taking dance lessons and learned the mambo, Argentine tango, pasa doble and others to my already knowing the cha-cha and merengue. There is something about Latin music that will make anyone want to get up and dance.
Nice reaction. I didn't read all the comments, so I apologize of everything I'm about to say was already said. First off, It wasn't Yui in this one (this I'm sure somebody probably pointed out). That being said, when Yui left, Moa had what amounts to be a Holy Sh!t moment where she realized she was the lead dancer now. Before then, it was always thought and assumed that Yui kinda took that role. As a result, Moa decided to take things seriously. Before that she said she did it more just for fun and didn't really take it as seriously. But now that she is lead dancer pretty much, she studies the dances (and I think she helps with creating the moves for the songs...somebody will have to tell me if I'm right or wrong on that, but I seem to remember reading that somewhere...) much more seriously. She also studies how her partners dance and changes her style a bit to become more compatible with how her partner dances. Not sure what she meant by that, but that is something she said she does. As for Su, you mentioned that her lines were slightly off. That might actually be true. I don't think dance was really Su's specialty. She tries VERY hard and has improved by leaps and bounds over the years. I don't know if you've reacted to any Sakura Gakuin stuff with Su in it, I haven't seen it come up in my feed, but maybe I just missed it. But if you haven't I highly recommend it. Su is absolutely ADORABLE dancing with the rest of the group. She was like the third or forth tallest, but she was very gangly and skinny, and I think she felt very awkward trying to dance, and it REALLY shows. Its super kawaii, as this young gangly girl tries to dance. That being said, when you see how she used to be, you can kind of understand and see that dancing was never really her specialty like it was with Yui or Moa. Anyhow, just thought you might like these little tidbits of things that I don't really see people mention very often. Nice reaction and looking forward to seeing more! :)
