I have an idea. Flip it. Start with one person and the others are in the back. Every ten mins add a new person who has to help / figure out what is going on. That way near the end you have the whole group, space is limited and getting into each others way / trying to do something to be helpful. Might be fun.
When Ben stripped the leaf of the stock in one motion and Baz was so I’m pressed made my day. When Baz tried and failed spectacularly made my year lol!
He did seem to get the hang of it, though - at 7:08 he was doing it quite nicely. You have to be prepared to do things badly on the way to doing them well.
Reverse it and bring one more person in every 10 minutes. The chaos of having to explain what's going on, and the chef showing up late to help correct mistakes.
Just so you know, your channel has been encouraging me to make my own food instead of buying ready-made food. I've already lost a bit of weight because of it and I feel much healthier. thanks
I don't know if anyone has said this yet, but I think it might be fun to combine the survivor format with the 5 Minute Mystery Mayhem format. So every 10 minutes someone gets randomized off AND a new mystery ingredient is introduced that has to be incorporated. The 5 Minute Mystery Mayhem format would also be a fun thing to combine with a Pass it On.
"Always do a thinking shallot if you are not sure" -Ebbers I need this framed in my kitchen, right alongside "Garlic don't need no reason" -Alton Brown
Oh please do not let this be the last Survivor we see here on this channel. The utter chaos of doing that with an antique cook book (as suggested by others!) has me screaming with laughter. lol
Okay, as someone who hasn't ever seen this live, seeing g all of them actually working together was a treat. I genuinely wonder if there could be more teamwork elements slipped into some of the competition? Whist pitting them against each other is fun, often forcing people to work together under pressure genuinely brings out innovation. I'm confident these guys could be even more brilliant if given the right conditions!
Tense and fun new format. I like it. One way you might be able to get closer to the voting off the chefs early thing but through the randomizer is to add more chef faces on the wheel. So instead of one face each, the Normals get one on the wheel while the chef gets 2, 3, or 4 faces on the wheel.
Love that this went so well and you ended up with a lovely looking dish. Also loved the idea of random “voting off”. It could have ended so differently if Ebbers was “voted off” first. Just thinking of the other eventualities makes me smile 😂. Please do more of this format 👍
If bringing formats back, may I suggest "Menus That Made History" & "Make It Gourmet"? Spent a very enjoyable chunk of yesterday evening watching them while being a good trencherman with a cheeseboard.
I'd much rather watch more MTMH and MiG than these competition episodes. If this is the direction they are going in, I'll be inclined to watch less. I'm not interested in more Food Channel programming, you know?
You don't need to rest pasta dough if you put it in a vacuum bag and suck the air out, it relaxes the dough instantly. I worked for a chef who taught me that trick a few years back

I absolutely LOVED this format… It’s like the fun of Pass It On but with a proper planned recipe that we can aspire to creating ourselves. Perfect blend and it also showcases the lads’ friendship too- with all the banter. Love it. More please… 😊
I haven't been able to afford any of the live shows, thank you for bringing this to the channel! Loved the whole thing, honestly couldn't have worked out better for the normals.
Never was able to catch the live shows so I had no idea this format existed, this is awesome! More please! Also, genuine thanks for not spoiling who survives to the end in the thumbnail 😄
great format! and I was really happy that Ben wasn't voted out and you ended with a great dish! And I love how cheerful you all are, really makes me smile every time :)
Even through all the chaos and avoidance of rolling pasta out, theres something so wholesome about the boys shaking hands and hugging like they havent seen each other in ages. Makes me smile the way that crinkles your eyes.
next time, make it a combo of pass it on and survivor: Start with for example: Mike for 5 minutes, then Mike and Baz for 5 minutes, then just Baz for 5 minutes, then then Baz and Ebbers for 5 minutes, then just Ebbers for 5 minutes, then Ebbers and Jamie for 5 minutes, then just Jamie for 5 minutes, then Jamie and MIke for the last 5 minutes. When there are 2 people in the kitchen, they can't talk to each other.
I'd love to see this mixed in the usual battle formats. Maybe make a hybrid of this and pass it on? Start with two, than every 10 minutes, wheel is spun, kicking one out, and randomly picking one of the others in?
I absolutely love this survivor format! So much fun! Please keep it! 🙏🏻 I also like someone’s idea of incorporating the five minute mystery mayhem into the mix as well. 😊
It was awesome to see everyone working together in the kitchen on one dish! It hadn't occurred to me before how rarely that happens - normally it's a competition or one at a time.
What a lovely dish! ✨👌 I enjoyed the fact that there were good food prep and cooking tips for yummy looking food. Beyond mere entertaining chaos and something on a plate! ❤
I have been lucky enough to watch a few live events...snd I LOVE the Kitchen Survivor challenges! Great to see this as a more 'regular' item!... and I just adore eating game, so venison had a big smile on my face... @@fatukchicken Yes, I bought the tickets... I was lucky that I found the Sorted channel a few years ago...lucky that I was eventually able to buy my first ticket (like many viewers I missed one or two because finances were tight)...lucky that my finances are now a tad more stable and allow me the occasional treat like a Sorted ticket. and lucky that I have the health to sit up and watch the events (no details, but I have SERIOUS health issues...every day is a gift to me)...as a Christian, maybe I should say I was 'blessed' rather than use the word luck?...and lucky that there is this amazing team (on both sides of the camera!) that brings joy and laughter and good food into my life!
To be honest? The first 10 minutes or so of this video reminded me why I loved The videos that you did such as the gang cooking for people in a restaurant. I would love to see some videos of just everyone working as a team to feed a group of people, with the communication and cooperation that brings. I miss the old videos when it was Ben teaching the others how to cook. I understand that was a long time ago and they´re all too good at cooking now but this reminded me of that which was nice =)
I love this format! It’s just a group of guys getting together and make a meal while one of them is a chef and knows the RIGHT way to do things and is trying not to murder everyone for the sake of efficiency!
Like the format. Like that the person is selected at random. You could do a couple of stir fry dishes, always lots of prep for those. Maybe one battered and fried first, like sweet and sour pork. Greek Pastitsio with Village Salad (hint, no lettuce). Allowing for off camera time for baking.
I think one twist to make things really chaotic. The 3 normals cook together for the first 30 mins. They decide the dish, begin the process of cooking it, etc. Then in the final 10 minutes a chef has to jump in to finish it without knowing what the normals have done in that time.
This was an amazing video. I do hope you enjoyed filming it as much as we enjoyed watching it. Great job, as always! The next dish idea Stroganoff or Enchiladas.
