- I like this one, although i wish I knew how to extract the voices from the audio. I think it would be so much better. xD Ahh well, I worked with what I had.

If they had used the dic music for the newer dub it would have made my inner child happy...but they used the original sub music which made me sad 😢

These voices give me chills EVERY time without fail, and I have seen those hundreds of episodes more times than I can count. This cast, this music, this creation was just magic--there is no better word for it. And I will NEVER let someone attempt to justify what Viz did. THIS is passion.

uh DIC deserves actual jailtime for how they butchered the plot of Sailor Moon via extreme censorship. Viz tries to keep it as close to original anime as possible. DIC did a great job with the music though, thats the one thing I’ll applaud them for.
@@MarmiAfrinTsubie They didn't butcher the plot, it's easy to follow and to put 2 and 2 together to figure out what's going on, especially if you know it already. It was a different time back when this was made and things were not as widely accepted as they are now here in the west. I forgive the censored areas for how amazing the cast and music was.

i love the DIC dub.. i COULD have got on board with the Viz dub IF they got the original voice actors in on it.. it was the voice actors that made it for me.. so much passion and making erach character stand out.. whereas viz made them all sound so bland and monotone
Say want you want about the DIC dub, but the voices and music are just infinitely better. The music is so evocative and every time I watch it, my heart fills with hope and inspiration.

Susan Roman Really Is the Voice of Lita, and Jupiter. Susan is extremely versatile and was also in many shows, like CARE BEARS as Good Luck Bear along with many others in the Sailor voice Team. Plus, Susan was also JAMES, THE RED ENGINE NUMBER 5, with a Cockney-style accent in THOMAS AND THE MAGIC RAILROAD Movie, COOL!!..TOOT TOOT!!
That music is catchy though.

@@Blossom44100 yep. They used most of the first season attack names dic came up with. Cure Flora are mostly floral attacks that are reminiscent of Sailor Moon's scepter attacks.
@@Blossom44100 also you get the feeling that they accidentally swapped the soundtracks for the transformations. Cuz Go princess music sounds more like the original Japanese music while Crystal sounds more like suite precure

Supremely talented voice cast! I get chills EVERY single time I listen to this! For me, EACH voice actress gave the character individual LIFE! And the music gets my blood pumping and heart racing!! Nothing like this dub! Sorry Viz Media, but you tried too hard and lost this magic.

@@clarelabellerose I watched Full Moon dubbed by Viz Media and I went never again. I am not sure if they even read my DM but I did let them know how much Viz Media butchers anime and that there is more than one way to butcher an anime. Before Saban sold off the rights to precure I let Toei I was glad they let Saban have the rights to precure because they have proved with Digimon they don't butcher it as badly as Viz Media and that I couldn't stand listening to the viz media dubs.

There is nothing that hits me in the feels quite like the english dub of 90's Sailor Moon. The boomy, echo-y filter used on their voices is just sweet sweet icing on the cake of perfection.
Haters gonna hate, but I love the BGM and effects from the DiC version of this show.

I miss Dic
Dic is really awesome when it's uncensored. Dic dubbed all of the Sailor Moon movies, and they're completely uncensored. I wish the show was like that too, but it's still cool. 💜
DIC also made Sonic Underground.
You know being a Disney company and being dubbed in the early nineties censorship was on the news every day. Things were starting to change and parents were fighting to keep it the way it was. I still remember the outrage of blood on mortal Kombat. Their hands were tied, I mean...but still, ren and stimpy were on too. But that wasn't a Disney company.
DiC has way better voices for the characters than CWI did even though CWI didnt cut anything
I agree their voices during transformations made the sound like they were calling to the gods.

discs? im going to guess you mean dic? some of the music they did was good, some was kind of lame and unfitting, and if youre going to go with viz's choice of music? its the original. the voices? at least theyre following the script and not trying to rewrite and cut for people they think are 2 years watching sailor moon

Even though the voices aren't as pronounced here, the music is catchy. Love that it loops - best theme transformation sequence. Wish they used this in the Japanese version alongside the Outer scouts US theme song too.

If Viz media version of Sailor Moon came out in the 90s instead of DIC, I highly doubt it would’ve been popular.
If it did,then it will consist and have a Vancouver voice cast since Viz's dubbed titles in their early days were recorded in Vancouver
I wish it wasn’t big at all, should have never been dubbed and people should learn how to read and watch it in Japanese which is better than every other version 😂 sorry not sorry

AlphineWolf sure but the dic censored a lot of things and cut out whole episodes.
Viz Media did a lazy, translation-dub that didn't localize or adapt any of the content to its Western audience.
-- Run the script through a translation program,
-- Find some VAs to recite the lines,
-- Manufacture & distribute.
That's Viz's product.

I think when it comes to the English dub, Karen Bernstein's voice was the one I remembered to be a bit better than Liza Balkan.
Tracey Moore and Terri Hawkes tie when it comes to voicing Serena, though Tracey did a slightly better job of sounding younger, but I still like Terri more. Both did better than Linda Ballantyne, in my opinion.

For Raye, Katie over Emilie.
For Mina, Stephanie over Emilie, only because I think Stephanie had that ditzy, well meaning inflection to her portrayl that made Mina likeable. When Emilie took over, Mina sounded more condescending and meaner than Raye did at times.

I prefer dic music and voices, i just hate the excessive cuts and edits (but granted, it was the 90s, every anime got that treatment)
Soarix Channel which ironic when you look at shows like ren and stimpy and rockos modern life, which could never Be on chhildrens television even today. The whole country is just topsy turvy.
While I truly appreciate what VIZ did to bring over all 200 episodes… I can’t stop listening to the DIC cast. Every actress brought a different attitude to each girl. The VIZ Cast did an amazing job but IN MY OPINION… they all sound the same.

Oh, and Serena's mom's actor was awesome, too, and I'm pretty sure she went on to play Michelle/Sailor Neptune and did an even better job with that character.

I'm not a big fan of the voice acting too much in the DIC version, but DAMN that music hits so hard!
There was only one instance where they kept the right footage, and that was during Amy's goodbye episode, her transformation was kept intact w/ the erasing of the body lines.

@Goldie267 At least they made some of my favorite childhood memories when it came to music. lol They did do good in that department, if anything. And the VAs aren't all that bad, really. For instance, Mercury's "grr" at the end of her line is more than epic. :P

In this case sailor moon is a certain series that unlike any other , its combination of date of release and the rythmband used by the original voice actors, resulted with a true star of a franchise with ICONIC voices.
Something ppl tend to forget when marketing and replacing the old with new ideal ruins it all.
Some things really dont need to be touched and sailor moon is one of them.
The new english dub isnt terrible but in no way can compare to the original , which surpasses it tenfold lol
Well Toei liked it enough to rip some parts for Go princess precure attacks . The names are taken from DIC dubs

The attacks are based on Sailor moon first 2 arcs and the filler arc ; Cure Mermaid and Cure Twinkle and Cure Scarlet all have English attacks that are derived from Dic not Toei. Only Jupiter is missing. :( They didn't do Jupiter only Sailor Venus, Mars, and Mercury. Sailor Moon's style of attacks are mirrored over but the names are nowhere close with Cure Flora 's attacks

I use to loveeee Sailor Moon growing up as a kid and always got made fun of it because as a little boy why the hell am I watching Sailor moon. It's for little girls. I should be more into DBZ. I'm in my 30's now looking back on this. There was nothing wrong for a little boy to watch Sailor Moon. The english dub the transformation theme just reminded me how amazing Sailor Moon was when it first premiered in the 90's. I am definitely giving it a rewatch.
