It's been stated that their Tiara's hide them from civilians and the shades Haruka and Mamorou wear in the Manga prevent other guardians to recognize each other. The same that Sailor V had. I hope this helps 😅
I think it's only because their hair is typically Japanese hair in civilian form. If their civilian hair was the same as the anime/manga it would not really disguise them.

I'm watching the whole series for the 6th or 7th time. I really LOVE IT!!! These actresses are amazing, they put their heart and soul into PGSM and it shows. I honestly prefer the live version to the anime, where the inner senshi are pretty USELESS. In the live action they fight, they kill some monsters, they save Sailor Moon, and they all have a developed storyline unlike the anime where they barely have an episode about them every now and then each season...
I'm so glad I watched this series and I've read some of the hate comments and it disgusts me how they can call themselves "true fans" of Naoko Takeuchi when they think they can be mean towards the actresses because they were young. Sailor Luna was a great concept and so was Princess Sailor Moon. I love the story line and the development of the characters, Mio Kuroki was a good concept too. Not only was she Beryl's shadow but she was also portraying the deceptive idol who wanted to turn Usagi against her true friends. The concept of the Crystal being the reason why Earth was destroyed all those years ago made me interested. Usagi's mother? Funny as hell.
Chelsea Lyn Zen-Lewis I’ll admit, I absolutely hate the character of Sailor Luna; I just find her annoying. However, I would never hate on the actress. She was very young and did a pretty great job considering she was a child actor. I will never understand how people seem to get “I hate this character” and “I hate the actual person” all twisted up.

You'll be saying how bad they are, and then understand where people are coming from with this one. The source material is the OG and fans who like that are allowed to dislike this as well.
PGSM could have been a very good live action adaptation if it wasn't so low budget and the acting wasn't so sub-par and awkward(all though it seemed like they all really had fun and I can appreciate the effort they put into it) The storyline and the ideas and concepts for the transformations were really great(For instance, the Sailor Soldiers looking like normal Japanese girls and changed to their alter ego counterparts after they transformed instead of just putting a tiara on their head and saying, "Ha ha! Can't recognize me now"). I especially liked the Dark Mercury arc and Princess Sailor Moon concept, which hell, probably could have been the equivalent of Eternal Sailor Moon only more powerful(not really a fan of her sword design though. The blade could appear a bit longer rather than a short sword). The only thing that bothered me about it was how Princess Serenity handled Endymion's demise. What was her solution? Destroy Earth. If she can't have her man Earth is doomed. That's a little fucking extreme. Why destroy the home planet of your lover? That's more or a less of a dishonor of your love for him. I wish Princess Serenity's motives were handled a lot better and she was actually willing to help Sailor Moon and let them combine forces instead of having her take over Usagi's body completely. Not saying that it was completely awful but it could have been handled a lot better. Same goes for the rest of the show. Now I don't expect high quality especially from a tokusatsu made in the early 2000s but this show screams "Great concept, bad execution" all over the place but for what it was PGSM is a good show. Not bad or great but good.

I absolutely love Sailor Luna transformation a lot because she's so cute and I also love princess Sailor Moon🌙🌙 transformation too. I also like the other sailor Scouts transformation too.

I'm so happy to find people who actually love PGSM. People need to understand the show. This show is hella better than Sailor Moon Crystal (Storywise) and stupid Chibusua isn't here thankfully. What I loved about this show is that despite the cringy transformations and attacks, the acting was very good in their civilian forms. The character develpment was very good and thankfully not everything was focused on Sailor moon. I even rewatched this show 2 to 3 times. People should acknowledge this show more.

It's sad that the acting and budget was very low because the story line isn't that bad. They don't follow the same path than their previous life Princess serenity isn't sailor moon in this adaptation, same for beryl even the shin tenoh.
The budget wasn't low, it was 2003 and they used the same methods as Power Rangers at the time. And the story was made because Naoko Takeuchi wanted a story were the girls chose a normal life instead. It matched more with how live actions create more depth to characters emotions because they use real people acting. She helped make the plot and design the new looks.
The budget was low as hell, and its because it was made in 2003 that i said that. Never head about naoko helping with the desing of PGSM as it's the same from the manga, nothing change. If you can give me some source about naoko taking part of PGSM it would be nice
She is always listed as having worked on it. Plus, she wrote the lyrics for the opening and made concept art for Sailor Luna(the only one I can find a picture of cause i thought there were images she drew of the shittenou too). Also, it had plenty of budget considering they were able to make and sell so many products and have the Kirari Live on a big stage. If you compare the amount of effects they use then they it to Power Rangers at the time(would have been Ninja Storm or Dino Thunder) it's not much different. They used the same method because Sailor Moon is a mahoushoujo which makes it sentai too.
I knew she wrote the lyrics, you might be right for Luna, but i'm not sure as luna is an adult human in the manga and turn to a child in sailor ive. The budget was low, the animation is ugly, the actress are all beginner, when you have budget you can have a casting with recognized actress, here you only have beginner models. The life and the merchandising are part of japanese style production to cover the budget of the show.
I would just like to take a moment to say "Thank you!" for posting this! Sure, I am finding it now, a few years later, but oh well! 😋 I thoroughly enjoyed everything about this live-action adaptation! I just wish that whoever currently holds the rights to this would re-master it and release it on Blu-ray as a complete series set. I am totally fine with a release in its original Japanese language audio, but with good quality English translation as subtitles. I have seen some good and others not so good in that translation/subtitles area. I have seen perhaps 90% of this series, but there were a few episodes I could never find online.
The US almost got their own live version of PGSM, but it was so cringeworthy, it never got past the trailer. It's all over RUclips. Look up Saban Moon.

Venus transformation was the best and the one with the best special effects. With Sailor Moon's transformations however... I don't know what they did to her hair but it looks like they could've done something better even with the low budget.
I like the idea of rose petals for sailor mars' henshin i think it goes well with her being a temple priestess. Although, I would have liked it better if there is still fire. Maybe fire first then fire disappears and rose petals fly after her ornaments appear. But still, she's my favorite and also venus. i think the casting is great and their individual identities are amazing. Noticed that Sailormoon's hair is longer when she transforms and when she does her attack?
The true reason is because the company is selling sailor moon nail polishes. That's why they change nail colors. It's for marketing purposes. I remember my sister even had a sailormoon nail polish that dries quick and you can peel off after. It's a toy

In my opinion this is pretty good. You should give them another chance because this was old and obviously on those years they had low budget. PGSM has my respect.

This was an interesting series. There were cool effects. I noticed Rei was the only one who's hair did not change color- it just grew longer!

It's sad that the acting and budget was very low because the story line isn't that bad. They don't follow the same path than their previous life Princess serenity isn't sailor moon in this adaptation, same for beryl even the shin tenoh.

The budget wasn't low, it was 2003 and they used the same methods as Power Rangers at the time. And the story was made because Naoko Takeuchi wanted a story were the girls chose a normal life instead. It matched more with how live actions create more depth to characters emotions because they use real people acting. She helped make the plot and design the new looks.
The budget was low as hell, and its because it was made in 2003 that i said that. Never head about naoko helping with the desing of PGSM as it's the same from the manga, nothing change. If you can give me some source about naoko taking part of PGSM it would be nice
She is always listed as having worked on it. Plus, she wrote the lyrics for the opening and made concept art for Sailor Luna(the only one I can find a picture of cause i thought there were images she drew of the shittenou too). Also, it had plenty of budget considering they were able to make and sell so many products and have the Kirari Live on a big stage. If you compare the amount of effects they use then they it to Power Rangers at the time(would have been Ninja Storm or Dino Thunder) it's not much different. They used the same method because Sailor Moon is a mahoushoujo which makes it sentai too.
I knew she wrote the lyrics, you might be right for Luna, but i'm not sure as luna is an adult human in the manga and turn to a child in sailor ive. The budget was low, the animation is ugly, the actress are all beginner, when you have budget you can have a casting with recognized actress, here you only have beginner models. The life and the merchandising are part of japanese style production to cover the budget of the show.
I would just like to take a moment to say "Thank you!" for posting this! Sure, I am finding it now, a few years later, but oh well! 😋 I thoroughly enjoyed everything about this live-action adaptation! I just wish that whoever currently holds the rights to this would re-master it and release it on Blu-ray as a complete series set. I am totally fine with a release in its original Japanese language audio, but with good quality English translation as subtitles. I have seen some good and others not so good in that translation/subtitles area. I have seen perhaps 90% of this series, but there were a few episodes I could never find online.
But I always wondered why we didn't get an English version of PGSM and I hope that Viz media can somehow get this to the USA!
The US almost got their own live version of PGSM, but it was so cringeworthy, it never got past the trailer. It's all over RUclips. Look up Saban Moon.

I like the idea of rose petals for sailor mars' henshin i think it goes well with her being a temple priestess. Although, I would have liked it better if there is still fire. Maybe fire first then fire disappears and rose petals fly after her ornaments appear. But still, she's my favorite and also venus. i think the casting is great and their individual identities are amazing. Noticed that Sailormoon's hair is longer when she transforms and when she does her attack?

The true reason is because the company is selling sailor moon nail polishes. That's why they change nail colors. It's for marketing purposes. I remember my sister even had a sailormoon nail polish that dries quick and you can peel off after. It's a toy
