So Alex, the charging cable was plugged in when you were checking with the multimeter, right? To detect where the voltage was stopping and figure out the problem component?
Yes MOSFET or driver. I would check instead with a 3V or 5V supply on the gate pin. But only if there is series res to the driver IC. Otherwise you blow the output stage. Most start today only with a battery present bocz there are unswapable.
its amazing and beautiful when you know how the schematics work and how to read it and bypass it :). Thanks Alex. BEfore you asked, my gut told me you fixed it and I was right, I felt your confidence and saw the solution in the next frame haha. Thanks - Ari
I love your technique for diagnosing the problem. I know you rarely answer questions here or maybe someone else can answer, What vendor would you go to and find a MOSFET like this?
@UCLaXgfNlVxY149shiA1pykQ goat just stands for “greatest of all time” like how mvp means “most valuable player” and that’s you man, you’re the greatest of all time!! 😄🥳
Plz explain the p channel mosfet. The functionality of drain gate source. And the difference between n channel and p channel. Which pin voltage goes to the chip and which pin it comes out in each.
I am working on an Inspiron 5755 thst I have worked on before and same issue now. Lady didn’t want to spend any $$ in it and gave to me. Taking apart I can do blindfolded. Have basic electronic experience and will see if the Monet here. This model year was known dot problems. But if can get working I’m ahead of game. Thanks.
Never missing a video so far, I was wondering if suppose we used the thermal camera on this case would we have found this particular mosfet issue, regards to all
hello i was wondering if you can help me my latitude 7480 was overheating so replace it with brand new thermal i did all of the proper safe procedures when disassmbling the labtop from wearing anti static wrist latext gloves removing the internal battery , cmos battery holding the power button down for a min to drain whatever power that is left disassemble the heat sink fan removing the thermal paste from the cpu gently and lightly as possible where i dont damage or scratch the cpu and video chip put new thermal paste and installed everything back and now it doesnt turn with or without the charger just now power idk what could be the problem all i did was remove the thermal from the cpu so i went back to what ive done remove the thermal off the cpu and video chip got a flashlight and a magnifying glass to thoroughly check the cpu and video chip and theres no scratches ,dings, etc both are fine ive been doing this for years this is the first time ive had this problem before i would appreciate it very much if you or anyone can help me and tell me what could be the problem my labtop is a DELL LATITUDE 7480 i7-6600U looking forward to hear from you or anyone here that can help me with this problem .
I have a same model of laptop, and have a same problem with him. I try to charge over usb-c port, and it works. Now i have a solution of my problem. Thanks a lof lot for possible solution of my problem. Assalamu alaikum va rahmatullahi ve barakatuh brother from Bosnia and Herezgovina.
He measured the Gate voltage (about 13V, if I remember right from the Video). Since Source terminal is at 18.3V, Vgs is NEGATIVE (about -6V) and this is the condition for a P-channel MOSFET to turn on, making Vds almost equal to zero. So Vd should be 18.4V, but this did'nt happen due to the failure....and the MOSFET was to be replaced. Hope to have clarified. Regards from Italy.
Awesome video. I have 2 Msi of the same laptop. One won't charge. I'm going to troubleshoot it. It's been laying there for about 2 years now. With an Nvidia GPU collecting dust. time to learn Electronics repair. Thank you for the video.
Wow, interesting... I'll try for check my Phone mosfet before buying a mosfet, classic problem for siemens oldphone not charging... nice idea of troubleshooting... Great job...👍👍👍
I have the Dell Latitude E7470 similar issue I believe, how much do you repair this issue? In my case the battery doesn't appear to charge and the computer will not boot, although it does come up to the BIOS and startup F2 F12 options. Power led on front is on when plugged in which is also odd.
Very good video realy . Can you send me solution for my elitebook 2560p . No sound. All drivers is ok i dwnload from hp suport . The softwar test showen good . But no sound .the botton led always on orange color. I need the schematique of cart mere .can i upgrad to i7 ? and what is the best prosessor can i use ? Thank you
Thank you! I could measure 0 V on the inside of the power connector, so I guess the motherboard needs replacement. This will be my third motherboard so maybe this time.......
Brother, i disagree with one thing, you did not lie, as lying should have intentions to deceive others. You did not know the charger was powered or not :) Rest is perfect as usual, thanks a lot taking time, and sharing your expertise, really appreciate that.
Some dell models have another problem, I'm not sure u have a solution for that, they don't power on unless you remove the internal battery and connect it again
19V rail has standard first and second mosfet and a current resistor right after these to start with, these are intended to protect the mainboard from a broken or bad charger with wrong polarity.
Hi my Dell laptop won't turn on. Of I press the power it turns the light on sounds like it's going to start up but doesn't then power light turns off and the fan. Help please
SIR I have problem with my laptop usb ports only power no data showing what could be the problem it’s my mobile repair shop laptop use for mobile software’s FROM INDIA
I love your confident laugh when you successfully repair something

What is the MOSFET's function anyway ?? Just curious.
Turning things on and off really fast 😌
How you know if the signal on the gate of the mosfet is ok to let it work Alex??
He measured the Gate voltage (about 13V, if I remember right from the Video). You really are a legend! True OG.
I really hate this light feature on the Dell´s connectors, but now I know in which situation makes sens. :)
Like always, great job!
nail it like a champ! awesome job, Alex. 👍
Nice and fast, thats just because of your experience and knowledge. Thx for the video. Greets

I love Dell laptops they are synonymous of perfect design.
Durable and great for work, play and study.Simplicity in functionality.
Experience, knowledge, genius! 👍🏻
Those charging cables with the light at the end are very handy, it's more than just a gimmick.
I want to be your apprentice sir ...
You are great 👍
That deep breath at the beginning was just like ok I'm over this already. Haha
Liking your contents. Keep doing what you love to do.

Nice... thank you very much for sharing your knowledge, Sir.
Love to watch you work have you start training yet
“Let’s hope nothing is going to blow up”. Lol!
how do you know if it's a P channel or N channel mosfet by looking at it?
Can you test the mosfets on circuit
what if i decide to leave the jumper wire will it cause any problems
sir which micro scop camara u use
What thickness jumper wire, is it fuse thickness?

Thanks sir it's works but show message on bios charger not installed but on laptop in diagnosis unable detect charger
Superb diagnosis!
👍👍 Super fast diagnostic and fault resolution !!!
i doubt its the mosfet, look at the blown capacitor under pin 1
I have the computer. What does a repair like this cost on average?
Hello, I really like your work. I have a laptop problem. Can I contact you to solve the problem?
Nice job and video like always
Thank you for this Video!
Can we fix that laptop using jumper wire & no mosfet change is it safe to use???
How to know the part number if the part is burn? Thanks
I did exactly as you showed in the video, but after that the battery does not work, please help
Ic is where available
What is the use of MOSFET when it has just to be bypassing it?
for protection
19V rail has standard first and second mosfet and a current resistor right after these to start with, these are intended to protect the mainboard from a broken or bad charger with wrong polarity.
@@cagataykilic7978 omg o can't understand it too much but thank you I thing in simple language it means to prevent from shirt Circuit
Or a short circuit on the motherboard.
What if you leave it like this ?
How many mosfets are in a laptop ?
Did he say it could be the Mosfet?
Hi my Dell laptop won't turn on. Of I press the power it turns the light on sounds like it's going to start up but doesn't then power light turns off and the fan. Help please
Good job always.
Outstanding. #TheGOAT #BTF
I have like ten LGA1150 motherboards with no power I wish to repair but IDK how.
Nice job 👍
Genius. 👏👏👏👏👏
That bappens a lot in the older Samsung laptops
Pro plesss backup bios dell 7490 "16MB plus 1Mb "
Always check, fix to the maximum
I try to do the same and 🤯smoke I burn a similar part 😭 black smoke
If it was Sorin that jumper could have served the purpose and he could not have bothered to replace the mosfet
The highly calibrated fuse
Nice job my frand
sir i have a hp laptop, the problem is that when I use the charger, it gets very hot after one hour. Please give me a solution i how to solve
Can i work to you sir i like learn hardware repairing laptops, computer pc or other else sir..
That was quick diagnose
why don't you leave it that way without replacing the mosfet?
The mosfet acts as an electronic switch if something goes wrong, without it,no protection whatsoever 🤷
Awesome ✌🏻✌🏻✌🏻
I love his sucess expression hahaha!
I like this guy.
What will happen if you keep the jumper wire and continue to operate the laptop ? Is something gonna blow up ?
Mosfet protects the motherboard from bad power input. With jumper wire you have no protection.
Awsome video
Greattttt👏👏👏👏👏
We are waiting for part 2
I'd wish to fix only laptops with this kind of issue... :)
good job bro
SIR I have problem with my laptop usb ports only power no data showing what could be the problem it’s my mobile repair shop laptop use for mobile software’s FROM INDIA
