Great makers in the USA! Gotta love fitting out a workshop. A joy to watch your videos. Always inspiring and I admire your imagination to keep coming up with great ideas and sharing your knowledge. Well done. One Handed Maker - Australia
Hi, I'm going to be building a 30 x 45 metal garage and I love all your ideas, FYI I would encase the steel angle supports in pine, to loose the metal look, but it may go with the metal roofing
Only suggestion I would make is to off-set the vertical seams. That will tie the entire wall into a more rigid piece. Not “required” for a metal building but it’s stronger and doesn’t cost any more so generally wort it. Unless for some reason you want an 8’ board and batten look with no visible seams.
Just the video I was looking for. Getting ready to finish my building, and I planned on siding like you did, and notching around the angles. Only my plan is to use 1 x 4 horizontal girts attached to the metal studs, and siding over the top. Hoping that works.
I've decided to have horizontal metal siding, so I can run my electric through the grooves. Then, use 3/4" vertical 1x2 slats against the siding to allow for 1-1/2" foam board insulation to be installed flush with the metal studs. Tape the joints, Spray texture, and paint right over the foam board. Since I will be installing tons of peg board, shelves, and storage racks, I don't need beautiful looking walls. I just need it to be white and functional.
Thanks for the useful info! Just to clarify, based off your channel, you used just the double bubble for a couple of years and then did the framing and plywood? Curious if you got good use out of just the double bubble.
@kw1234-w8y yes it was fine with the double bubble paired with the mini split and/or wood stove. But as my shop evolved, ive finished the walls a little at a time which gave me much needed wall storage and extra insulation
What stain and color did you use? In the process of doing the exact same thing and I tried Minwax Early American on a sample but it was a bit dark. Looks great.
I have the same style metal bldg. can I attach the plywood directly to metal or add horizontal 1x then attach to that? Concern is weight hanging things on walls
What's the dimensions of the square tubing used for the building frame? Who was the building manufacturer? What is the white insulation panels inside the framing?
Looks great bud, I do have a question, I have been wanting to use T-1-11 in my shop for a while, im going to do like a corner bar area and want a rustic look. but i have read that the T-1-11 uses a formaldehytde binder ( or something similiar) when it is made and it shoud only be used outdoors for fear of the gases it my put off in doors? I'm just wandering if this is a legit concern. Thanks ...
I'm not sure about all that. I wouldn't eat it lol, and maybe wear a mask when you cut it. but I'd think it would be fine on the wall! Disclaimer: I am not a medical professional 😆
2" foam would have slipped between those frames and then you can put plywood directly on metal frame with self tappers. Just did a 50x30 this way. Took 3 days with 3 guys and a 4th day with 2 guys for the front with 2 10x10 roll up doors. That was the hardest part. Fitting around roll up doors.
Not a bad idea BUT, My metal frame is 60" on center, my way ads alot more support behind the plywood and allows me to use the full 4x8 sheet rather than wasting 3ft off every sheet!
@PatriotDIY that does make sense! The one we just did was 4' centers so that made it a little easier. Them self tappers to get into that galvanized metal was some work for sure, though. Your way is awesome because it's easy running once the framing is in place. Awesome job!

Looks great. An easy way to make a wall look like a barn. I vote for the metal ceiling. Keep em coming!

Came out spectacular!!! Great work!!

Just beautiful, the notches alone great work!
thanks
Nice work! Definitely giving me inspiration, thanks!
Thanks! Happy to help!
Do the ceiling in a rustic corrugated metal. Like the outer walls. Add more insulation.
That's what I was thinking!!
Great work!
Great looking space man. One thing I noticed was, you should’ve used PT for your bottom plates.
looks good! One thing I would have done was stagger the seems.
That turned out awesome. I think I caught a glimpse of a new TS? 🤔😁
Haha...maybe...
Great job looks awesome

Wonder if you could hit random darker stain at the joints to hide the transitions?
You could, but yous have to do it after it's on the wall!
Are you just cooling this room only or the whole shop?
@@firerob5240 whole shop
That’s stain made that T 111 look great. What stains did you use?
Base coat was called Early American, darker spots are Special Walnut
I'm still looking for the part 2 of the miter station build from 2 years ago...?

@ Awesome. Thanks! I’ve watched a lot of your videos and plan on eventually doing the same down the road but need somewhere to start!
@@PatriotDIY Is it necessary to use treated lumber or no?
@kw1234-w8y Its reccomended for any parts that are touching the concrete floor
Looks great! Any plans to wrap those metal angle beams with unnesasary Walnut? :) Yea I watch Fishers shop too!
Lol no, those will stay the way they are
Where did you get the wood panels?
Home depot! It's called T1-11 Plywood siding.
This may work well for a cabin

Hey thanks for the video. I see you used 10x1 self tapping screws if I was using 4x4’s what size do you suggest? Thank you
I like your videos
What's the dimensions of the square tubing used for the building frame? Who was the building manufacturer? What is the white insulation panels inside the framing?
I believe it 2.5x3.5" steel tubing. The white is double bubble reflective insulation, I have a video on the install.
How did you finish off the ceilings? Im basically in the process building the same thing
@MjDomzal-fv4fy I haven't done it yet, but thinking about using corrugated metal
I have a 30 x 40 metal shop been deciding on what to finish with. What did you use for blocking for the TV n split unit?
2x4s and plywood

@mediocrefloridaman thanks!!! Yeah getting into those metal studs is alotta work, I ended up predrilled most of them!
@PatriotDIY definitely a good idea!
Jealous of that backyard.
