Hot Lap of Michigan International Speedway in a MonoTracer

- Since this was only my second lapping of the day, it wasn't quite as "hot" as the laps later in the day. I did about 100 laps, so by the end of the day I was getting the track pretty well figured-out, and although I was never "at the limit", I was able to make better use of the track, run a smoother line, and pick up quite a bit more speed. By the end of the day, I was doing a fairly relaxed 90 mph through the corners, and 125 & 130 mph on the back straight .... oh yeah, with passenger on-board.... :-)
@MrBOB39 55 mpg highway; clutch with a pre-selector switch tied-in with an electronic shifter; have fit a guy 6'-4" and about 230 lbs in the back seat, but it is somewhat "tight" at that point. Very comfortable and roomy for 6'1 or less; About same comfort level as any sports car; The 'leaning' aspect of the MonoTracer is the best part about it. If feels like you are flying as you go through corners on smooth road; Yes, you are right, it IS blast to drive....
unless the price comes down it will remain a toy for the wealthier, this thing needs to go into mass production so price will come down it needs to be around 15.000-20.000 euro (20k-25k usd.
S Dew Agreed on all points.... but need somebody with the vision to invest about $20 million to make that happen :-/
Jimmy Lorimer yes true
We need more of this in the USA! 🇺🇸
@fpskirk You deploy the "landing gear" when you come to a stop, OR if you are in bumper-to-bumper traffic & just want to roll along without having to balance the vehicle. The "landing gear" is controlled by the driver, and can be deployed once the vehicle is below 15 miles per hour. They can be retracted once the vehicle is moving at 2 mph or more.
Still disappointed I missed out on this when you sold it. How's the new owner been enjoying it?
They also call that "PIO" -- Pilot Induced Oscillation.... Since this video was of my first few laps on the big-banked-oval, I was probably still a little "tense", thus was a little too heavy on the controls. Also, some of the NASCAR guys in attendence said that the wind buffets between the grandstands so much, that it causes even the big NASCAR cars to move around. As the day went on, and I became more comfortable on the track, the "oscillation" was much less.
Well, they are priced in Euros since that is what the manufacture as to pay for parts and labor in. The current base price is 60,000 euros, which puts it over $80k, due to the declining value of the dollar.... Still cheaper than many other high-performance 2-seaters, and it can do something that the others can't do.... lean through the corners.....
How can I purchase one of those awesome things
A couple of questions if i may...
How do you find the MPG on that ?
Is it semi auto or how is it shifted ?
How is the head and Leg room on it ?
How comfortable is it for extended rides ?
How do you like the handling of it ?
Now...It looks like it is a Blast to drive..
Too bad this vehicle is way too expensive and doesn't have car-like controls and more legroom under the handlebars.
They should make a radio controlled replica of it.
haha awesome! must feel weird when cornering, gotta get me one lol
soooo...how do you stop at red lights?
I want one of these!!!! :-D
Did you ever get out of 4 gear or are they just a 4 speed??
Actually, strictly speaking the car never stops turning left, except when it's going straight, in which case it's actually turning right.
how much and where can you get one?
i hope this e tracer will be available in Singapore. If i get my bike license this e tracer will be my first bike.
@Torhec75 5 speed BMW,same as on the 1200 series BMW.BMW drive train, the other X racer is electric.
@blackbetty101 Sure! In Caifornia where it is legal. Do a RUclips search for "The MonoTracer Lane".
can you lane split with this thing?
How can a guy get to drive (not just ride in back) one in the USA...West?
how much that costs?
Is it semi Automatic???
About $80,000.... Same price range (or LESS!) than many other exotic, high-performance two-seaters, but none of those other vehicles can lean through the corners!
Contact Jim at 21st Century Motoring if you would like to order one.
these are like 70k right?
@ZoneTelevision If you like some right turns also, search for "MonoTracer In The Canyons" on RUclips,
" . . . was getting the track pretty well figured-out . . ." ?
It's a bl**dy OVAL!!
why not using gyroscope

Indeed. And most of them are way more expensive in following costs -
Fuel, Tires, insurance,... Using this thing not more expensive as a sportsbike.
You can even park it on bike parking.
(which are mostly free and near the entrance...)
thats an hour from my house, I want to buy one
@gck86 If Singapore will accept E.U. and/or U.S. safety standards for certification & licensing, we will happily ship you one (since you said "E" Tracer, I assume you meant the electric version of the MonoTracer, thus there should not be any "emissions" issues...). If you are not already on my MonoTracer Update e-mail list, send my your e-mail address and I will keep you posted of further MonoTracer developments. Google 'MonoTracer USA' to sign-up for newsletter.
I would pay 20k for a tube and fiberglass version, instead of monocoque.
Taking orders now for 2013 models! Contact me via the 21stCenturyMotoring web site if you are interested!
By the way, I just gave some rides on the 2.5 mile Road Atlanta road course this past weekend. Much more fun when there are both left AND right turns!!
Turn Left Turn Left Turn Left Turn Left Turn Left Turn Left Turn Left Turn Left . yawn.
This 'pilot' seems to be taking it pretty easy--or is the lack of sensation of speed just a camera illusion? Why the low groove, and why feather-foot it through the comically large curves?
Beyond these comments, I am intrigued by this bike and would love to own one. I'd need pleny of performance, and would have zero interest in E-power.
Why is the economy only in the 50's? I get that with my V-strom and its aerodynamics are terrible. This should do in the 70's or better I'd guess.
