This is definetly the most beautiful song of In Flames, in my opinion.. it's so perfect with everything falling in place.. th violins near the end always give me goosebumps and sometimes make me cry when im alone, just because it's so beautifull....

To me, this is one of the best composed, and easily the most beautiful song In Flames has created. Everything comes together from the strings, to the emotion displayed in Anders' vocals. This song is literally one of the most powerful songs that metal has ever seen.

Ah the song that saved my life. Saved me from falling through with a stupid idea that kept crossing my mind. Hearing the instrumental made me smile.
the nice thing about this album is that not only A New Dawn is a great song but it is in general a album with alot of masterpieces because those guys have work for 3 years and got the time to greate this album love it.IN FLAMES WE TRUST GREECE.

Man...I just gotta say. That In Flames has been every where, and done so many fucking sick songs...I wish they'd come to Canada, in toronto...I REALLY wanna see them play here. Especially with the song A New Dawn. Since it's already won over my heart.

OMG. That fucking riff from "Where the Dead Ships Dwell" is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. If there is anything that hits you with that old school In Flames sound it's that little lead melody. I can just barely catch the verse riff after it and it sounds top notch. Going to be the best song on the album by far.
Saw the reviews for this album, and listened to it myself first... so-called "Metal" fans are the saddest excuses for human beings ever made. I'm almost sad I am one. They are beings with such low intelligence, that change hurts them, so know what they do? They spend the entirety of their days writing long statements about how bad the band is, and good they used to be. They bash the album and state that some generic, horrible band is better. And everyone else agrees.But not me. I love this cd!

You know, these guys have been playing hard music for so long. I think I'll enjoy a more mellow album for the first time. They are not selling out, they have not lost their passion, they are just doing something different, and I can tell they are still making great music. Can't wait for the album!

A New Dawn (the song with the cellos and stuff) is probably the best song on their album.
It has many elements of their older work, it's very strong and then the orchestral instruments hit in which just changes the focus of the song...

@Ndemco you can just do both. I plan on downloading the album on the 15th so I can listen to it while I wait for my copy to come in the mail. The real fans will want a hard copy, I went through the supplier so Its coming with a shirt too. gotta get something to wear to mayhem coming up XD

@intruderGER i do agree with the production, the past few albums could sound so much better but the mastering quieted a lot of the guitars and power in the drums, with this aside, i love the album and knowing IF these songs will be EPIC live!

@intruderGER Anders vocals on this album is the best vocals iv'e heard so far. Sure there arent that much screams and growls like the other albums, but damn, the vocals are good! The drums are not boring, its the tightest and heaviest sound Daniel has ever had. And sure, there may be a lack of double bass, but does that make an song automatically good? And I guess you havent heard the whole album when you are saying that there is no fast ones. What about The Puzzle, Enter Tradegy, Darker times?

@intruderGER it's a good album, actually it's way better than ASOP, the reason why there are no fast songs in terms of drums, it's because it's more of a melodic album, i think this time all of the members agreed upon which direction to go musically speaking, you can hear a sense of harmony whithin all the instruments, it's a nicely done album

I liked the old vocals better. even on a sense of purpose it was better, he put more power into it and he wasn't "crying" the whole time. Maybe the drums sound good, but that's because they (as i hear) triggered. I didn't mean boring as how they sound, more like what is played, it feels some kind of empty with all those single bass, which is sure good in some rythms, but it's repeated too often on the new album. Still there are some faster songs, but overall the album is really slow.

I said _almost_ no double bass drumming and I mean that compared to their previous albums, even ASOP had more. There is more and better on the old albums, as I said it feels kind of "empty" sometimes. But maybe that's just because I'm a drummer.
And by the way, Necrophagist is ten times more technical than In Flames.
Dont get me wrong, In Flames were my favourite band, but I think this changes now.

Well, Necrophagist's guitarist composed both albums completely alone, so you can't await musical perfectness in every part. But this discussion should not end up in a battle between to bands.
Technicality is not the most important thing, but at least it keep songs interesting as theiy differ much more from others. Though it's not a must have to make good music.
I just critized In Flames' work on this new album, maybe I just have to get into it, but I listened to it four times now.
