Actually, yes, but some bands still remain good. I personally love the new epic/symphonic metal bands like Insomnium or Wintersun. Other bands have mostly fallen down though.

Definitely my favorite Pentakill song, and I've listened to them all.
It has just the right blend of heavy metal and power metal, plus it has great lyrics.
Every time I hear the epic metal music I can't help but expect to hear some screaming. Too many people probably wouldn't like it though. Like beer it's an acquired taste.

Lightbringer started the fuckin power metal hype train I find myself on these days and this song nicely manages to keep it going (although that's not "pure" power metal but who cares)
Power Metal Hype Train? I thought that train left in the early 2000s. If you are just now discovering power metal, here are a few suggestions: Dream Tale, Sonata Arctica (their first album in particular), Kamelot (especially their albums Epica, Karma and Black Halo). For really CHEESY power metal go Freedom Call, for more progressive go Stratovarius.
lagerbaer I knew and liked some power metal bands before but this stuff made me look a bit more into the matter, so it's sort of a personal hype train. I'll propably check some of the stuff out you mentioned. I already knew most of the bands but never really cared to give them a real listen.
You will Definitely want to check out the bands these guys are mentioning, Especially Blind Guardian, Kamelot, Sonata Arctica (Fucking awesome btw) And nothing wrong with Stratovarius
