The “As Noted”s for this game specifically are the most interesting to me, it’s so cool to see how you scored the harp parts and the background synths, the individual sounds of which normally blend into the background without seeing the score
Oh and this is probably my favorite of your pieces, which was a very hard decision to make

All your scores are fantastic. Real talent right here. This or Journey may be my favourite but I'm not sure.

Gorgeous. So cool to see the score and the instruments dancing to each other. The glass effect added so much to it.

Oh my. I get goosebumps and tear up every time I hear your scores. This is one of the reasons why video games are one of the most important art forms in History to me. Thank you so much for bringing magic to our lives!

3:39 ingame the music gets accompanied by the whale song while it pans out, it's the most wonderful moment while you sink into the darkness and then your light flickers on, taking you from this musical high to a halt. It left quite the impact on me.

This is my favorite moment in the entire game and the soundtrack is part of that. Whales are my favorite type of animal in the entire world and combine majesty, gentleness, and intelligence in one big beautiful package that I think the music and game moment give great honor to. They have been shown to rescue people, avoid hitting them in the water with surprising control and caution not to needlessly kill another living being, have some of the most complex language systems in the animal kingdom, and I'll never stop thinking about that pod of sperm whales that adopted a dolphin with a severely deformed spine.

I know I'm late to the party, but wow. First thing I did after finishing the game was look for an "as noted" from you for this section. Thank you so much for sharing this. Truly a gorgeous point in the game highlighted and driven by equally gorgeous music :).

Most magical part of your score! When I was a kid, I loved blue whales, and felt especially touched by the gorgeous melody you gave them at 3:26
If you don't mind me asking, I've always wondered why you teased us with such a fleeting but great melody at that part, where you walk down this explosively beautiful line over a Bmin (aren't we in C? whooaa) chord, to Gsus(#4), to a stressful Eb electrifying the D6 chord, but take the wind out with a Bmin7/D, resolving to Emin/G, and slinking away through the end. [If those are even correct]
I don't know how it would continue, but maybe with E over something lush (like C6), something classic (Emin7 -> A7 -> D6/9), jazzy?! (G over Bbmaj7), or something restful (G6). I wanted to spend plenty more time with your whale theme, but what made you decide to have it resolve so soon? Thanks for everything you do, Austin!

That melody is an arrival point. It's the foyer of a new building, it's not the pack on your back the way a true theme is. Sometimes, we just have to make something nice for 1 moment :)

@@awintory Thanks so much for responding, and wonderfully said! I guess that's the beauty of that moment: it's a one-time encounter with the whales, before you don't get to see them again. I feel like your mastering of that ebb and flow instead of just going full leitmotif for "three minutes of whale themes" speaks to your incredible talent as a composer. And more abstractly, it seems like great artistic sense to let the diver swim on without some sort of dramatic finale too early, because there's plenty of music left until the last notes of "Then Were Created Gods in the Midst of Heaven" leave us with the curtain call
I'm still reeling that you responded, by the way! I'm sure you must know that reaching out to your fans is incredibly meaningful, and I appreciate it tons
I look forward to hearing the Pathless later this week, and hope it's just as breathtaking as all your other work!

This is a very great soundtrack. My favourite of yours would probably be Tooth and Tail. I'm still getting my cyberpunk animal game soundtrack in the works, inspired by the following:
Michael Giacchino's Zootopia and Thor: Love and Thunder
Joby Talbot's The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and Sing 2
Daniel Pemberton's Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and The Bad Guys
Mark Mothersbaugh's The Lego Movie, Thor: Ragnarok, The Mitchells vs. the Machines, and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart
Daft Punk's Tron: Legacy and Random Access Memories (my all time favourite album)
    Jean-Michel Jarre's Oxygène, Équinoxe, etc.
    Vangelis' Blade Runner (R.I.P. 1943-2022)
…and other synthwave stuff from John Carpenter, Tangerine Dream, Stranger Things, etc.
