I never even realized how toxic the commentators are. the ONLY person who can speak on gymnastics as a commentator is Nastia Liukin. she would NEVER speak negatively about fellow gymnasts.
There are plenty of other gymnasts who would be/are great commentators. Shannon Miller, Bart Connor, Alicia Sacramone, Aly Raisman etc.
Well she did laugh at the comment he made on Laurie Hernandez
@@apologose456it might have been an uncomfortable/nervous laugh - hard to tell without video of her face though
The editing was gold on this😂 these comments are HORRIFYING
Prepubescent stick insects😂😂
“Perhaps she’s been watching too many” PLS I DIED
1:54 what a weird thing to say 😭 that shouldn’t be overlooked, someone needs to investigate that man lmao
Right?! She dances like what, Tim? LIKE WHAT?!
truly that was disgusting
All the comments about sexy choreo just had me thinking
WHYYYYYYYYYYYY
Like do they think before they talk
Even juuuuuuuust a little
So your problem is that he said the choreography was sexy....not that the gymnast is in a leotard dancing sexy, and that someone literally taught her to do it?
@@igboamaka6142 Yes, their problem is that the commentators did not think before they spoke. What you're addressing in your post is a completely separate issue.
I love this compilation great job the editing had me on the floor🤣. That aside tho it’s really sad to hear these people saying those things. I mean who is the commentator that kept commenting about the gymnasts’ bodies? And kept saying the same “twig insect” phrase each time? That’s literally wrong on so many levels. And Elfie is so wrong for saying someone had no talent when she couldn’t do half of what that gymnast did. Glad she’s not commentating anymore.
*elfi
@@arirenai7097 the commentator was Monica Phelps, she was dreadful
at the end of the day, gymnastics is a sport...and gymnastics will be criticized.
She was saying stick insect, and yeah Monica Phelps had no shame! Constantly commented on the gymnast's bodies and before the internet she was the commentator us Brits had to listen to!
@@igboamaka6142 that doesn't mean they need to body shame gymnasts or say they have no talent
Tim calling a dismount a “dick mount” really needs to be in here 😂
Someone take a shot every time they hear “prepubescent” and see how drunk they get
This should just be called "inappropriate comments" and so important to see this! I don't feel like we hold commentators accountable enough.
the gagging sounds are right on LOL
"Sexy performance." "She just oozes sex appeal." BEING HOT IS NOT THEIR JOB. HOW PHYSICALLY ATTRACTIVE THEY ARE IS NOT RELEVANT TO THEIR ROUTINES.
What is the deal with that lady’s obsession with the phrase “pre-pubescent stick insect” lmao
Wouldn't have minded seeing Tim fired over that Laurie comment.
he's been an annoying commentator for 30 years yet somehow they won't get rid of him ...
The ''she's a mamooth of course'' one in 1:41 killed me, im literally in tears rn
Ok for the dads in the audience she is 13.
Just because you were active in the sport does not mean you can do commentary on it.
It was so messed up
Omg these edits are everything I'm dying
I am very disturbed at how they talked about Morgan. I am also a Chinese adoptee and it made me so upset hearing about basically who she truly “belongs” to.
“Never expected the Russians to put an athlete with so little talent on their team” *as she nails a piked full in*
Lol Efli. At least Semenova is a world champion and came in fourth in Beijing whereas you didn’t even get to compete at a world championship, let alone the olympics. 😂😂
Damn lol
I mean she did make an Olympic team, they boycotted.
"Excuse me Mr. Daggett" iconic
Thank you for making this. This should be shown in every sports journalism / commentary 101 class
Yep
I'm here for the salty comments
"Perhaps she's been watching too many 👀" lmaooooo
@@mcblaloc lol
This was great! There was once a commentator that made a CREEPY comment about (I think it was Al Trautwig ) Nastia....he was talking about how she just bends herself over (she was stretching), but it was definitely awkward, lol. I tried to find the comment but it seems to have disappeared…🤷♀️
OMG i know exactly what you're talking about. i think it's towards the beginning of the 2008 floor final? but it might be the beam final
@@soph3349 She was over 18 though. Creepy but not that creepy. And she was gorgeous.
@@Paulafan5 How old was Al? And considering he'd been commenting about her gymnastics since well before she was 18? Definitely creepy. Even if you're a commentator and find an (adult) athlete attractive, your job is to commentate on the athletics, not making googly eyes. And that's taking the age bit out, which is still relevant.
Around that time he was also saying some weird stuff about Chellsie Memmel and how she had become a woman or smth like that, so glad he's gone.
That was one of the creepiest comments I heard him say. It just sounded like he started talking and just kept rambling
that rupaul reference, IM GAGGING!! SOO GOOD
Alyssa's 'backrolls' comment took me out lol. Also Gia's
that british commentator i gasped every time she spoke😭😭😭😭😭😭
"Back rolls?"
Alyssa Edward's is everything.
There British commentator was mean, but some of her comments made me laugh.
Tim was just wrong. Really Tim? Seriously?
A lot of people coming for Tim Daggett here because he's infamous but I found those belittling, nasty, and body-shaming comments made by the female commentators even worse. (Also it'd be great if there was subtitles, it's kind hard to understand some of them)
Agreed
I just don’t get all the comments on size, undergarments, being. 13, etc...they just aren’t relative and take away from the actual competition one is viewing. Some comments are down right mean and unnecessary.
I love when they get proved wrong
Already w8ing for part 2 🤣
ruclips.net/video/uQCfZY6UCyU/видео.html
Just listen to what he said about Izbasa and Chelaru...
Izbasa at 9:00 - literally 35 seconds attacking her
Chelaru at 14:58 "ELF LIKE GYMNAST"?!?!?!
"perhaps she's been watching too many" LMFAO
The one that body shamed...yikes. I remember early 90s doing that a lot on commentary.
We need more of this please!! It’s been 3 years and there’s been a lot more since!
TIM NEEDS TO GOOOOOOOOOOOOO
The amount of drag in this edit 😂😂 Please do more!!
The toxicity and rudeness is ASTRONOMICAL
WHY DOES KHORKINA LOOK LIKE PENNYWISE AT THE END I'M DYINGGGG
The Khorkina one killed me 🤣
i was looking for that commentator who always say “Anamar”...
"What you WANNA do is not necessarily what you're GONNA do"
Thank you for this I’ve been waiting for this
Hardly surprising that half of the video was Monica Phelps' commentary! That woman had no shame!!
Most of them are just dumb rather than malicious, which doesn't make it any less infuriating and ridiculous LMAO
Hm, seems like figure skating isn’t the only Olympic sport where the commentators are annoying pricks the entire time. RIP gymnasts
I would be so humiliated if someone talked about me like this. Oh my god.
they used to make SO MANY comments about how the gymnasts look and what they should look like or saying something like “her twist was very poor” like you don’t just say that to the whole world- I’m very glad they stopped
The obsession with weight is insane, at least wait until they perform ffs
“Excuse me mr dagget!?” LMAO
2:30 “She chooses to twist but unfortunately doesn’t do it very well” 💀💀
Honestly!! This is my favorite video!! What a fun compilation of shade!! 😂😂😂
THIS HAS NO BUSINESS BEING THIS FUNNY LMFAOOO
“Prepubescent stick insects” I’M SCREAMING 0:56
Literally had to roll my eyes with Tim Dagget's comment on He Kexin's routine. Are you serious?
THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS!!!! There’s always things about the commentators that creeped me out. Hearing them all together :/
ARE YOU KIDDING ME. YOU DID NOT INCLUDE EKATERINA LOBAZYNUK'S beam in the TF at Worlds 1999?!?! Lobaznyuk had a runny nose and the commentator went on about how the Russian federation must be falling apart because they allowed a gymnast who is sick to compete...this was right before Lobazynuk hit like the best beam routine of the competition.
“i need glasses” was so funny lol
Racist remarks from Tim about Morgan Hurd. His comments feeds in the larger racist dialogue in the U.S. that always attempts to shun Asian-Americans as foreign even though they are just as American as everyone else. He would never say that about Nastia who was born in Russia
Those were such stupid comments. If you can't think of anything to say, how about just dead air bc it'd kill far fewer brain cells than having to hear such demeaning comments.
His comments were not racist. Talking about someone's ethnicity is not racist. He didn't say anything negative about her being chinese...or that there was anything wrong with being Chinese he simply said..imagine china having this talent... and basically loosing her. He also made comments about russia loosing Nastia, and that she is of Russian descent.
If you care about racism maybe you should take a look at Table 14 or Bureau of Justice Statistics Criminal Victimization report. Or look at Bay Area, Philly, NYC, etc. violence against Asians and who perpetrates that violence. But I'm guessing you find it more convenient to complain about anodyne comments from Tim Daggett.
This is my favorite thing I've seen all day...😂😂
Who was the gymnast that was on beam and they were talking abt her jean size
It was Tatiana lysenko
And how did they GET her jean size? Nosey Nellies.
@@DovieRuthAuthor There was a time when the gymnasts' weights would be posted along with their names and the nations they represented.
This was incredible! Can we have a part two plz (we all know there are plenty more moments)
2:04 My favorite smack in the face!
At the end when it talked about her looking sad I got an ad on how to cope with depression
This has to be the best video i have ever watched thx for this..
This made me laugh so much - thank you I need this
I don’t remember which competition it was, unfortunately, but I saw a clip once where this Chinese girl fell from the beam and Elfie chuckled and said something like “and THIS is their national champion!”. Ugh. 😒
Isn't that the purpose of the commentator? To give commentary?
@@igboamaka6142 The quote above is not an example of commentary, it is actually an insult. There is being direct when giving commentary (which I endorse), then there is actually insulting someone. Because where the line between the two may at times be thin, if the reference that the OP is referring to is accurate, then that was absolutely an insult.
Wow this might be the best thing I’ve watched all day!
Perhaps she's been watching too many. That was hilarious.lol
the fuck was with that woman who kept calling them prepubescent stick insects????? what is your damage maam?????
They are so creepy and rude WTF
omg the editing is hilarious, lmfao absolutely incredible
She literally opened the door AHHHHHH 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
"you're cute jeans" I'm dead lmaooooo
EXCUSE ME.
For the DADS in the audience… she’s 13.
I’M SORRY BUT WHATTTTTTTT 😳
This made me so sad. The bullying, racism, misogyny, and PEDOPHILIA I just listened to almost gave me secondary victimisation.
Does these commentators have rocks in their head don’t they think? Do they have any common sense? No? That’s what I thought.
