Hi! I just finished this book and loved it. I came for the atmospheric fairytale narration Moreno-Garcia is known for and stayed for the weird romance and class warfare hahah
Great analysis; I hadn't considered this story as a "conversation" with the original but I see it now. Genuinely enjoyed Montgomery's perspective as much as/if not more than Carlota's, surprisingly. It's been awhile since I've read an angsty male lead so I was definitely there for that tension. Also, I think Moreno-Garcia went a little outside her box with creating Carlota's more passive and sweet personality compared to like, Noemi and even Maite.
Yes; absolutely! She is so good at giving us varied and interesting woman at the helm of her narratives. And I also enjoyed Montgomery’s POV!
Hella predictable book. Even more disappointing than Mexican goths. Or was it called Mexican gothic? Either way, you get my point.
Sorry that Silvia Moreno-Garcia doesn’t seem to work for you, but thanks for sharing your thoughts.
