1978 here. These are some great tunes. You could also stop me, with Separate Ways by Journey. Also anything by Earth, Wind and Fire. And Rock Me Amadeus works too.
Have you heard I'm a Player by Tech N9ne? Your Amadeus comment sparked my memory. It's essentially the same in a lot of ways, but instead of "Amadeus, Amadeus", the lyrics are "I'm a Playa I'm a Playa." I'm not a fan of rap but the nostalgia of it makes me smile every time I hear it.
Yea, playing wilson phillips hold on ain't gonna do a damn thing and I love that song. All you'll do is irritate me that you're trying to slow me down. That you'll really have something to cry about!
I'm a Boomer (born in 1952 to a WWII vet), and we loved those songs too! But also lived through the exciting early '60s when Beatles & Rolling Stones hit our AM radios for the first time. My Mom heard pre-teen me singing "I Can't Get No Satisfaction," and asked me if I even knew about what satisfaction was. Not really, I only found out that sex existed around 12-13. It was not talked about on TV or in media. Mom gave me a book to read - I was blown away! You mean my parents had to do that to make me? 😮
I can name a few that stop me in my tracks. Any song by the Police. (Like them or not, one of the most talented bands of all time. Sting plays like 16 instruments.....very well.) And I've never been a fan of current musical trends or fads, and I've never liked radio.
Thank you for saying this. I couldnt stand that Wilson Phillips song. But I will stop dead in my tracks for Barracuda, Magic Man....insert any Heart song here...

Yeah. All of those are higher on the list than Hold On other than the elevator music one with the sax. My local radio station spent 30 years over-playing that one. That one just makes me more annoyed. Careless Whisper, I think it is? I like Hold On, but it doesn't have a beat. I am way more likely to stop for things with a good beat. And Girls Just Want to Have Fun might be stereotypical, but it's a stereotype for a reason. I thought about adding Hit Me with Your Best shot, but really, that's the soundtrack to delivering a beating, too. So may just make the poor Zoomer's life worse.

@@freddyrodriguez4732 I was just going to say the same thing. I think it's funny that people think Black Album if someone mentions old school Metallica. I never owned any album after Justice.
