Watching Carol Burnett try not to break after Harvey Korman says, "Chitlins" is hysterical. She'd often do it, esp. when Tim Conway would do or say something ridiculous, like in the Elephant sketch. What a show!
I thought Harvey just said "shit" and he kind of does because he paused in the middle of it. ha ha. Carol trying not to break up after it is priceless. I think Carol said she used to bite her lip to stop herself and it looks like she does a little in this skit.
@@edgefan4437 She was trying really hard not to break in this one. The funniest was either the elephant sketch or the Mama's Family sketch where Vicki Lawrence insulted her. Truly funny!
Wasn’t that Roddy McDowall playing the ill husband in the wheelchair? He was fabulous with the falling down the stairs parts, and the way he “died”. Awesome !!!
@@markandruse4240 That stairwell stunt Roddy did was magnificent. I never really knew he could do impromptu physical stunts. He was always such a great dramatic actor. I miss him lots. RIP Great One.
„The little foxes“with Bette Davis, what a great film. This is Quentin Tarantino‘s version, but even funnier. Ruddy McDowell was his own stuntman here. Mr. Korman is my favorite, but as a team they are unbeatable.
Having a mild obsession with the movie (and play) I actually got all the in-jokes and references. This was so bad, it was hilarious! I appreciate the fact that Roddy got his revenge.
@@SavingHistory So glad you looked into it! I do believe the original full movie is posted here on RUclips. It's one of my favorite movies of all time, but I must warn you: it gets off to a bit of a slow start, so if you have trouble getting into it please give it at least half an hour. That's when the story starts to take off. If you do give it a watch, I hope you'll come back here and let me know what you thought!
I agree with you! This movie is criminally overlooked these days. I only watched it (the movie, not this sketch) at first because Dan Duryea was in it, who I adore, but I was blown away by everybody’s performances. Bette Davis’ character would def make my list of “All Time Great Movie Villains”.
Wow! Was that movie so popular that the general public got the parody back then? I bet people today don't know what this is referencing. It's one of my favorites, which is why I clicked. It was funny but sorry there was no place for the daughter.
Well, this sketch was made during the heyday of the “late night movie”, in other words older films being shown on TV at times of the night that weren’t going to turn a profit if they showed new content, so they ran old stuff instead to fill the time. This led to not only older people tuning in so they could re-watch movies they hadn’t seen in years, but also a new generation becoming fans of what we now call “classic” movies. That’s how people like Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg became movie nerds. So, even though this is a sketch from the 1970s parodying a movie from the 1940s, it’s entirely possible that the average person would still be reasonably familiar with the movie.
The character Tim Conway is parodying was originally played by Dan Duryea in Little Foxes, and while he was not cross-eyed, he was at LEAST as stupid...............
The 1970s were far more scandalous and profane than the 2020s and all those swearing artists put together who think that they're so ahead of their time, so hip, futuristic, but what they don't realise is that all that they're doing now has been done before. Each generation thinks it's smarter and way ahead of it's time and more misunderstood than the previous one. What they all have in common is the domestic violence they suffered in their homes, and violence creates brilliant manipulators in life, just look at Hitler, he had a violent, abusive childhood and had a whole nation follow him and execute his orders. So the next time you hit your child think about the repercussions it'll one day have on all of us. Cheers!

Davis should have won an Oscar for this role.
I completely agree the only reason why Fontaine won is because they felt like she should’ve won for Rebecca the year earlier
The way she just sits there, eyebrows arched, fanning herself as he gasps for ear😂😂
Virtually identical to the same scene in 'Little Foxes' with Bette Davis and Herbert Marshall [1941].

Vicki Lawrence cracks me up in this skit, hilarious
I can't stop laughing at this 😂😂😂😂 Roddy McDowall did an awesome job with his performance! 😂😂😂
That great Southern American accent when we were all used to Welsh accent. Wonderful!
Always incredible! He was so much fun in his appearances with Carol and Company!
Carol is so devilishly & deviously comedic.in her skits!! Love her 4eva!!
I couldn't stop laughing when the cannon came out of the safe 😂 This skit was so funny 😂😂
Carol & Harvey were THE.COMEDIC HUSBAND-WIFE TEAM OF TV! 📺 💘
I just saw the movie The Little Foxes. I love her spoofs!
Harvey’s sideburns !!! Holy Moly !!! That was the style in the 70s, my brother had them !!!
It has nothing to do with the '70s. They're imitating a sort of time period that's
Gone With the Wind-esque. Old southern.
@@Krana-rt2yy I guess sideburns were the same way back then as the 70s.
everybody was great, but vicki definitely did her thing.
Too funny!
"Go play in the wheat thrasher"
Tim getting slapped ;D

That was so clever--Having the doorbell tune be Camptown Ladies!

Yes it is!
"Do you like it? I saw it in the window and just couldn't resist!"
