As someone who does python and Linux system administration for a living this stream was painful for a while :P The radio looks pretty nice. Thanks for sharing.
Depending on how it performs, it could be my first HF transceiver when I pass my test this September. Its superbly priced. If it were 100w on ssb I'd be puting an order now. Cant wait for a full review !
I just bought the board for this radio. I have everything else including a case very close to the dimensions of the new case Ashlar provides. I think it will work, I didn't think too much about the length and width dimensions so there's a chance its too small. The new case he provides is 1/2 as thick (about) as yours ! (I TAKE THAT BACK, i THINK YOU'VE GOT THE NEW V2 CASE) It will probably be here in about 2 weeks . It might have the updated software on it. Another channel figured out how to make the site upgrade upload process work. I'm thinking it might be the top competitor for folks who want a radio that will do everything including ssb, all the digi modes except Varac, and have some incredible methods for powering it. I'm looking forward to trying the CW decode which looks really reliable (we shall see). Two hours with that little battery designed for a model car or whatever ? Wow ! I'm going to put a little wire on the wifi chip in there so I have it outside the metal case I hope to use. .UPDATE so far, I've gotten the Pi screen and have it hooked to an antenna, my microphone from my uBITX should work fine. Getting close, tonight will probably be the first operation night. That said, I'm wondering now if the audio comes from the HDMI screen I've hooked up or what ?
It looked like the two pin cable is right next to a mini jack socket. So, I'm guessing I'll plug a speaker in there. But no 36:00 that is the key, the speaker is right up against the side J6. ok. Mic in the middle. Cool. One thing I wasn't able to do with the Pi (I used it for Diji work, js8call) was get audio from it. Now I can.
I will tell you that I am going to put in a good word with Ashhar. He actually gave a couple of these to some , well, being kind, lets just say he chose the wrong folks. You should have gotten one of the free ones. You definitely so far have done this radio justice. You need to be just barely a home brewer to do that. Not saying that you aren't full fledged home brewers, but I am saying that the people who got them for free had a couple of issues, one, just not really awake, 2 seemingly laughing when they blew the radio up in case two.
Are those pics on the screem from the Raspberry Pi vacuum tubes? If so, it explains their case design. Looks old school with old school black tuning knobs.
I got a ft-991a for a steal, but i keep looking at things like this to use on a hike, even though the max power is more than QRP. Plus i like the idea of this.
You can get a V2 for 270. Minus case though. I can imagine someone having one of those printers and printing out that front piece. My uBITXs both came no case, that was what was happening up to the v5. I think you could get a case for the v6. APRS ENCOM ? It Sends Texts to Cellphones, without cell data, and that cellphone can text back. Very Useful in a real encomm situation ! We have entire huge highways up here (two lane state highways in the middle of no where that ONLY have APRS for textual messages to civilians.
So far, other than Ashar, you guys are the only ones together enough to do a decent video on this (other than the guy at the field day site). I apologize if there are other good videos out there but I'm here to tell you, if you can't do a good video, just don't do one at all.
Many people are gutting the existing PA in the sBITx and using the K9HZ 20W and 100W power modules as replacements since they are bulletproof and flat in gain from 1-54 MHz.
A very interesting and informative vide ... I have a V3 unit on the way and can't wait to see how it performs .... this should be a really great radio for Ghost Net use ?? Thank you for the video ... 73 Mike AD7VV maybe a QSO someday ??
I am a new ham, do not have any HF rig yet. I am interested in FT8, POTA and SOTA. No interest in HF ragchew. They say QRP is hard for new hams, but want to try it anyway. Very familiar with Pis and Linux. Debating this sbitx V2 vs the X6100. Any thoughts? The internal battery of the X6100 is awesome. The price is pretty good. Portability for SOTA is sweet. The sbitx internal Pi is really cool. I wish the x6100 had an CM4 Pi in it. The integrated Pi must be so great for FT8, POTA logbook, etc.
I only delete comments that are argumentative and trolling. I don't recall your name specifically but if you were being mean, that might be why they were deleted

Great video! Thanks so much. I ord my sbitx after seeing this vid. Delivery in 5 days. Excited!
Looks like a sweet rig. I googled it and found the original one and thought it was sold out, but it's v2!! Woot!

100w isnt necessary i love my g90, its more how good the antenna is. radios are as good as the antenna

I am really considering this for portable use ft8 or side band, maybe even cw

I wouldn't take this thing on SOTA. The X6100 has a built-in soundcard, so it does well on FT8 also.
Good project radio
Mine is scheduled to be delivered June 15th
It got here 2 days early. I like it!
It's like severse sideband for CW.
Specs are missing input voltage range… though it mentions 3S batteries. Any idea?
Just got a notice from DHL my V3 will be here by end of day June 27 …
Cool
To bad it doesn't have am/fm modes I would be interested in it then.
I wonder if this radio can me MARS modified?
got mine today
Does sBitx V2 remove the need for uBitx V6
I;m not familiar with the uBitx V6
Is there any reason you couldn't use them 8gb ram version?
I don't see why not.
Has anybody used any other sbc other than a RPI 4? Thanks.
According to the website, the radio is made for an RPi4
Is 2 GB of RAM adequate for this rig?
Time will tell
How much will you want for it.
I think I sold it
