I heard this news from a teacher in 9th class who was also blaming Salman Taseer when I was just 15 year old. One can imagine how these narrative is put on the younger generation who's intellect is not able to differentiate between right and wrong!

If the Supreme court found that there was no proof then the two ladies who made false charges needed to be punished for making Asia Bibi go through the ordeal. Even her husband and kids must have gone though horrific psycological trauma.

Salman Taseer did nothing wrong. You can see his honesty when he was explaining the whole situation about the blasphemy. He explained really well that people always try to revenge for their own matters by just blaming the other person for blasphemy.

With all due respect sir. This issue is not debatable and it is not/ never has been a constitutional debate. It is a perspective of one nation. It can't b changed. I am a christian and I wish I wasn't a pakistani. In this country, we have always been taught to be cautious of not getting into a religious conversations. If anyone does engage just listen and don't reply or move away from it. Because the problem starts when one reply to such questions. Funny story, I got my entire education from a Muslim school and since I studied Islamiyat as a subject I had to memorize verses so kids used to say since you know these verses by heart, you are now converted to Islam or even funnier, you are a muslim someone just didn't tell you. I have alot of stories I can telll. I notice other people feel this immense need to convert/invite someone to Islam. Like it a source of their breathing. Well lastly, all I can say is... Nothing! It won't matter and my voice will just go unheard. #peace #staysafe.

The problem I find in both the narratives (although I have no right to judge) is that in either case one cannot question Quran or Hadees. If that is the underlying assumption then there are always going to be troubles.

All Abrahamic religions started like that, no logical reasoning allowed, no diversity of thought allowed.... Its just that Judaism and Christianity became moderate and changed over time, but Islam, especially among the converted south Asia folk, just keeps regressing and going back in time instead of progressing...pakistan and Bangladesh have some of the most extreme radical elements, more radical than the original Muslims of Arab world..

I would like to add another lens to this incident, though the explanation u gave is well reasoned. I have observed that all political circles starting from far right, center and far left, have never been collectively against voilence, almost everyone says that change will never come in this society, so it is necessary to bring change through revolutionary voilence, and hence its justified, but what they miss out is, that once its justified, then everyone wants to use voilence, and in a society like this, more following and more power lies in the hands of extremists, so they will always win once that power vaccuum is created. The conditions for such incidents to happen are made only because there was no collective mindset of avoiding the use of force to take the law in our hands, if that would have been done, many things wouldn't have happened in the first place, after all, Mumtaz Qadri is like Che Guevara for the religious people.
