Hi, thanks for the tip about using "boot" command to boot first before flashing. I have been just flashing the image, though I get the correct image and patch it properly. This does make it safer.
Error is coming when trying to flash the patched boot file in fastboot. I kept the command fastboot boot xyz.img but its saying unknown command. how to fix?

if you have Android 13+ you have to use fastboot flash boot (if 2 partition boot_a boot_b) magisk_patched.img. Fastboot boot didnt worked for me (Error) had to flash thx for video ✌
