  • In 2011, the lights went out on Blackpool famous Trams as the modern world took over and the Flexity Tram ruled. But thankfully there was a group of enthusiasts that didn't give up hope and finally made the Heritage Tours along the seafront happen and the Vintage Trams were Back!
Well they are now moving into a new era. Most of the Vintage trams have been stored at the Rigby road Depot for the last 10 years gathering dust, but there is now hope that this forgotten area of Blackpool will be reimagined into Tram Town, A new attraction and water tight store for this wonderful Heritage.
Join me as I take a tour of the Rigby Road and the trams before the traMsformation (sorry) begins and Tram Town is born!

    Hi Matt.
A lovely day out for you and a great viewing of all those wonderful old trams. Personally, I prefer them to Blackpool's modern day trams but, that's progress I suppose.
    Ciao,
    Paul. 👍❤

For comfort, I agree, but I cant get enough of the 1930 styles! Cheers Paul.

      Matt.
I agree about the comfort on modern day trams. However, the 'discomfort' on older trams is all part of the thrill of experiencing the past.
      Paul. 🤩

I think so and each one quite unique, that makes them very special in my book and I am so please something is finally happening to Rigby road. I had a tour in the early days from a friend who was one of the original volunteers and it was a sad sight to see, but now there is a lot of excitement for the future, cheers

Blackpool heritage will cease all vintage tram running indefinitely from early 2025 because of ongoing maintenance issues and developing the modern trams to include a smart pedestrian awareness system...which the older ones do not have....so it's the end of the road for these old trams.

Hi Sorry for not responding sooner, I was so shocked, disappointed even angry, but thankfully it appears common sense has won over - well let hope so and we will see them back on the rails next year! Thanks very much for watching and taking the time to message.

I think they are raising funds for the new doors at the moment and there is a funding page, possibly go fund me, I cant remember but it was something like Rigby road depot doors. Anyway I was just a visitor an I cant wait to see what the future holds, thanks for watching.
