Here’s the longest 914 video to date. With some ambition I was able to complete the entire passenger side rebuild of the 914.
I started off with rebuild the hardware for the door jam. The easy part is placing the door striker screw holes and the more challenging part is fitting the 90 degree cabin air fitting. I used my trusty bandsaw to cut the fitting and a permanent marked to mark where to weld in place. After the hardware was installed it was easy fitting the door jam from the previous screw holes I installed in the last 914 video.
With the door jam in place it’s off to the races installing the roof pillar. Thankfully to Restoration Designs fantastic fit it was a quick install with very minimal body hammer wielding. A few tack welds and it’s in place!
With the most challenging piece saved for last I use my auto body dolly and body hammer to cut and fit the entire rear quarter of the passenger side. I have a lot of welding to do in the video but with some editing you get to view the best parts cutting out all the dust :)
I hope you enjoy the video, please remember these are for viewing pleasure only.
Stay tuned I have many more videos to come on this project with some neat tricks along the way. Don’t forget to subscribe if you want the updates! Cheers!

Watching, and hoping that the ‘72 I just bought doesn’t have quite as much rust. You are very talented, so sorry the channel did not take off.

This was excellent to watch. It really gave me some good tips for my 914 rust repair project. Some days it feels like I’m chasing these issues endlessly, but it’s good to remember to list things out and get them done one repair at a time.

@@joeaverage8396 That's really cool that you took my advice. I keep giving my daughter and wife my advice too and they tell me shut up!!! The 20 minute length of the video is perfect. Do you watch Ian Carr's 914 videos? Im hooked on watching old Porsche, Land Rover Series, Dodge D100/200 & Alfa Romeo Berlina restorations, I also watch old wooden sailboat rebuilds too. Keep up the good work! Watching these videos motivates me to work on all my projects!!

I came for the Corrado, staying for the Porsche! Interesting collection you have Joe, what’s happening after the 914?

    • @joeaverage8396

Hey Jason, Awesome to hear! I’m currently working on a video for the Mercedes SLR 50 go kart and juggling the 914 in there. I still have Corrado videos coming and after the 914 I have my eyes set on a particular red 356 ;)
If you go to the “abandoned Porsche 356” video you might see the car I have my eyes set on.
Also working on some driving review videos for my collection.
      Thanks so much for watching!
