One of The Stones most under appreciated songs. Mick’s growling vocals fit the lyrics perfect, snd like the song Angie, it’s a vocal style not heard in any other Stones song. Black and Blue is also an under appreciated album. With Memory Motel being a masterpiece!
Anthony Micheal Hall and Oates , love the H & O ref i'm on the Daryl's house video room day in day out Joe Walsh ZZ Top Temptations, Rob Thomas, their all top drawer, now on to Hand of Fate my fav song ever, seen em 3 nites in a row London Earl's Court ' 76 & Knebworth 3 months later, I'm give my right arm for this great Paris Abbatoir show to be released on Blu Ray box set in the next few months 2022, it was taped by French TV over 2 nights ( I have the bootleg 2 DVD version but it's poor enough colour + sound quality Take care Don ( Ireland )
One of Jagger's best vocal performances. However, this song rocks on the heels of Ronnie and Bill Wyman. That bass is amazing. No one ever gives Wyman credit.
The Stones had some amazing albums in the 1970s: Sticky Fingers, Exile on Main Street, and Black & Blue. Off of Black and Blue, this is my favorite track. And they always gave above-average shows in Paris, like this performance.
Well said Naoimi, firstly had this show on VHS then bootleg hoping for an official release soon with cleaned up pic and sound, just like El Mocambo special place in my heart for '76, they were promoting Black n Blue saw em 3 times in London then August 21st Knebworth hard to believe they are still going strong today!! The best of the best
as a guitar player i always loved Ronnie Woods playing he proves on this song and the subsequent Love You Live album hes his own man and style great funky feel
A re-discovered gem. LOVE this fuckin song. The guitar playing sounds great here (even w/o Mick Taylor!) This live version feels harder, rougher (in a good way) than the studio version. Love both. Ahh, love Stones forever.
From the swagger, the pouting , the prancing, this is one of Mick's greatest vocal deliveries ever, not forgetting Ron's killer solo's also, it's one I keep going back to time and time again, I know 2 of the Abattoir shows were taped by French TV, it's about time we got a double Blu ray of this epic show🎸💯😎🙏🙏🙏
@@mjp96 Absolutely. I really wish Wayne Perkins had been the guitarist they went with to replace Mick Taylor. I know that Keith got on better with Ronnie (which is important, yes) but Wayne's guitar playing is so much better than Ronnie's, people could have been talking about the Wayne Perkins years in the same affectionate way that they talk about the Mick Taylor years.
Buy Live at the El Macombo !! The version of Hand of Fate on that could be the greatest live song the Stones have ever recorded!! Leaves this awesome version in the dust
One of the best songs from a VERY underrated album. This, Negrita, Crazy Mama, and Memory Motel are classic a few of the others are pretty good too. The clothes on this tour were pretty bad though!
The clothes on this tour kind of encapsulated the out-of-control excesses of the Stones during the mid-1970s. Everything seemed accentuated, from the scope of the production, the size of the band, even Jagger’s mouth, hair, and how he moved on stage. That said, I love Black and Blue, and you highlighted the three best songs from that album.
Ron Wood after replacing Mick Taylor during the 1975 era plays all the live solos on lead guitar note for note for the Rolling Stones but plays a less melodic and has a choppy galloping style than Mick Taylor or Wayne Perkins. FYI - Ron Wood is a very good guitarist but was picked by the Stones because he's English, Harvey Mandel & Wayne Perkinsare great American born guitarists, but the Stones wanted to keep the core of the band British and that's why they picked Ron Wood and Ronnie was also a good friend of KeithRichards and had done some recording sessions on Ron Woods solo projects prior to Mick Taylors departure in 1974. 1975 Album BLACK & BLUE Hot Stuff - Harvey Mandel - Hand Of Fate Wayne Perkins And Hey Negrita Ron Wood on Solo..Cheers !
As far as I know Jeff Beck was asked before, he is British as well. Bu maybe that was after Brian's death. But Beck refused because the Stones weren't producing enough in his eyes
Jagger told Perkins that he would tour with them for the B n B Album but went behind Perkins Back when seeing WOOD at a Party n asked him to join , DICK MOVE by Jagger , Wood in my Opinion is more of a rhythm type guitar player then Taylor or Perkins who as you know play 3/4 of lead
Great tune. Billy Wyman is welded to the floor as usual, locked up knot-tight with Charlie. Mick and Keith - what can you say? Sorry, Ronnie is no Mick Taylor. Still, a great little piece of Rock and Roll. “It pick you up, and it put you down!” So true.
Taylor didn’t plY on this track on the studio no need to compare him here. Wayne Perkins played the studio solo as Taylor quit by the time they recorded the album
The Mick Taylor Worshippers, also known as the Mick Taylor Warriors, the Mick Taylor Zealots or the Mick Taylor Mystics, are a very prominent group on certain websites dealing with The Rolling Stones. They determine what is true or false. Their credo runs as follows: Before the guitarist took up full-time employment with the group, RS had been a bum band. With the glorious advent of Mick Taylor RS were elevated to a high(er) plane. When he terminated his employment, RS became a bum band again. So this credo proves that The Rolling Stones have been a bum band for over 55 years and that it was for five years only that they played tolerably well, which fills the Mick Taylor Worshipper with intense delight.
What does this have anything to do with some girls? This is off black and blue lol. And black and blue is the closest thing your getting to disco with songs like hot stuff.
@@luvittodeath7031 Yes true ! However Emotional Rescue has a fantastic bass line, it seems to me that it's Ronnie on the bass! By the way, Bill is a great bass player and he did great things, especially in the 60's. The other day I was listening to the song Break the Spell and I thought Bill had done a fantastic job, but then looking at the credits I found it was Ronnie playing bass. This is not the first time this has happened to me.
Right you are. I get so sick of the Mick Taylor worshippers. Yes, the guy was a great player but since when has rock and roll been about perfection? Never was. The rough edge of Keith's (and Ronnie's) playing is what makes it ROCK AND ROLL. Some people will never understand that. If you want a maestro, listen to Mozart for crying out loud.
When Mick Taylor is in the band the 2 guitar styles were quite different It many times was very much lead versus rhythm Ronnie and Keith's styles are much more similar. There is much more inter Twining styles. I love the debate. I love all the videos of Mick Taylor and Ronnie wood playing together so they don't seem to mind.
Good version. I like the one from Germany 1976 much better. Mick doesn't screw up the lyrics like in the beginning here. And he sings with more of a growl. Check it out people
He toured with the Stones in '73, '75 and '76 (and a couple of shows in '77 at the El Mocambo in Toronto) besides playing on various albums like Goats Head Soup, It's Only Rock'n'roll and Black and Blue. He's been a very important musician in the evolution of the band, especially during the 70s.
For once RonWood is fluid here. Loved him with Rod Stewart as he's a great good time rock and roll guitarst but doesn't come close to Mick Taylor for melodic beauty and articualtion and overall skill.
Judging by the comments here and on websites such as Time waits for no one, the people who listen to this band are a motley crew, only bent on dissension and strife. The Beatles websites are quite the contrary.
There was always something dangerous but addictive about the Stones , once there are in your blood ….they never leave…
You're right i love this kind of addiction :)
