Awesome! I bought the 3 LP set. I had my hands on an OG copy back in 2008 for 40 bucks. For some reason I passed that day, went back the next day and it was gone. Oh well, I'm happy to have it now! It's the only album I own on CD, cassette and vinyl. I just love this album!
Hi Bob, Always good to see Jeffrey Lee in your videos. I'm checking out the isolation problem myself. Recently purchased a pair of Klipsch RP-500M speakers, hope to set up soon. I'm working on turning a bedroom into a music room. Thanks, have a good week.
Among too many speakers and gear, I have a set of a/d/s 910s that were completely refurbished and sit near the top of the heap. Everything you said I can second about the mids, bass extension and fundamental fullness. The design is very MCM on the 910s and there are a couple of good vids on youtube. One about the Bauhaus school/workshop and another that ENO scored on the gent who did a lot of the Braun designs. Great vid...thank you!
Good to see you guys! Im digging the new Wildflowers AATR too. She’s The One soundtrack had a few songs from those Wildflowers sessions as well. Glad all those songs are finally out there. Thanks. - Zach
Great video and great review. I was amazed at just how good the new vinyl release sounds. It's really mixed well and has been on steady rotation since I picked it up. I was enjoying the video and kept getting distracted by the speakers. I was asking myself if those were ADS but couldn't tell which model. I was thrilled when Jeffery Lee said that they were L810's. It just so happens that I recently picked up a killer pair myself for around the same price. I refinished the cabinets and ordered new grill cloth and recovered. They look stunning and sound spectacular! I pair mine with a vintage Marantz 2275. I see that he has a Clearadudio turntable. Is that a Grado cartridge? Anyway, I just stumbled on to this video today and so glad that I did.
The Louisville show (1995-02-28) is the stuff of legend amongst diehard Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers aficionados. Not only was it the opening night of the "Dogs With Wings" tour but it stands as the closest the band ever came to performing the entire "Wildflowers" album onstage in one performance. The standout track from that concert would be the only known live solo piano performance of "Wake Up Time" that Tom Petty performed as an encore that night and dedicated it to his original producer and mentor Denny Cordell who passed away a few weeks before the start of the tour. "Wake Up Time" would not be performed live again until 2003 and then it was performed utilizing an arrangement based around the acoustic guitar as heard on this box set. Apparently the Louisville performance from 1995 does not exist in the band's archives as it does not appear to have been professionally recorded by them as far as I understand it.
Love listening to you guys, great stuff and nice system. I'm looking at upgrading and going for a different sound too, got my eyes on a pair of open baffles and tube amps
Thanks guys, got the 7 LP version sitting here but waiting for a new pre-amp to arrive this week, so will be spinning them soon. Also, very much in favour of not spending £1000s on systems in pursuit of diminishing improvements, so great to hear about Puckett's new adventures in hi-fi...
Careful shopping, patience and a little luck will pay off more than spending lots of money. That's my theory, mostly because I don't have lots of money.
Nice review of the Wildflowers pressings! Sonic bliss indeed (3lp for me). I really liked the photo of Tom Petty that appears when opening the gatefold and the innersleeve with the artwork representing each song. Amazing detail. Cheers ~Corey
Haha! If you compare the last Jeffrey Lee Puckett joint video with this one, it looks like this Covid time at home has really started to take affect with Jeffrey. Haha! Awesome video showing the two different Wildflower sets. I just ordered my 3LP set from your favorite place, Barnes and Noble, which seemed like the only place that still had it for $39. Haha! I didn't get that Neil Young yet. I'll have to wait a little bit. Between Blue Note, Analogue Productions and my trip to Chicago, I've been spending way too much lately.
To anyone watching this vid/reading the comments. - I’m no audiophile, my equipment is probably considered “basic”, but, this Petty sounds absolutely spectacular. Honestly, it’s well worth the $$$. It exceeded my expectation. If you’re on the fence at all, I say go for it. I can’t imagine anyone would be disappointed with how it sounds. A good reason to have a turntable actually.
Trevor, I use the resealable type.... I actually split one side and use the sealable flap to adjust the size. Then the split Side becomes the top if that makes since :)
Solid... want the 3LP but dang did I underestimate just how fast they’d sell out. Should have preordered. I often wonder how good my gear actually is because I have not gotten to very much room treatment. I hope to DIY some traps this winter.
@@coletrain4121 I bought the stands on sale but not the Lintons. If I ever come across a used pair for the right price I'm not sure I could resist, but the L810s are still rocking my socks off.
You don’t need socks where you’re goin’! Haha, the Lintons have been on my radar for some time now. The stands are rad too for the extra storage 👌🏼 Thx for the reply
Yeah totally agree about the remastered wildflowers amazing sound. I didn’t buy an original back in 94 I bought cd with a leaving voucher from a job never bought a Tom petty record before but liked him , But from that day I loved wildflowers me and my girlfriend played it to death. I’m just about to play all of the seven vinyl set like Jeffery has . Thanks guys wish I’d bought an original vinyl but got the red box like you Bob specifically for wildflowers on vinyl kind regards joe jealous of Jeffery s set up sounds amazing
Great review guys. Beards, wild hair, glasses, checked shirts, multiple copies of the same Tom Petty album, both excited 😆 New speakers on the horizon Bob?
Hello Bob, I have a question- How is the red box set of Wildflowers compared to the 3 lp set of Wildflowers the new reissue? I have the red boxset and I think the issue in that set of Wildflowers sound amazing. I would love both opinion
Yeah the red box pressing is great, but def a little more in your face mix. The 3 Lp is a bit more detailed and dynamic the vocals are much more pronounced to my ears.
Yeah, the new “Wildflowers” LP’s sound absolutely fantastic. I bought a bootleg of it too, which has a bit of noise in the R channel. Doesn’t matter though, cuz the new AAA reissue is unbeatable. Edit: At least the 2xLP’s of the main album are AAA
Bit of tumbleweed blew across the screen just at the precise moment Jeffrey dropped he wouldn’t Back Down comment! However it’s Time to Move On! 🤔 I can feel another purchase coming on!!!
Very cool video! Amazing album release and audiophile focus!
Long time coming! Good times!

When you are holding the booklet, I felt like Jeffrey Lee was thinking, Bob handle with care!
I was being very careful .... after all I am an expert book handler :)
great speakers been my favorites for the last 10 years. Also picked up wildflowers along with another Petty lp "she's the one", both sound fantastic.
Always good to catch up with mr Puckett 😎🤘👍
Thanks for watching!

It’s been a long time coming for sure.
I wanted to support my local indie record store so I saved and pre-ordered the indie 9 record version. Extremely happy. Great video.
Fantastic, you made several good decisions there! Cheers

Yes it is a grado cart, nice rig I love the marantz stuff! I am starting to feel like I need a set of those speakers lol, salute!
L810 4ever. Or at least until I stumble across something new. Haha. 2275 + L810 is a hell of a combo.
Wonderful video - Lots of TP and great informative chatter:)
Thanks George!
Appreciate it!
Good to see you two collaborating again.
:) cheers

well that would explain it i guess, i’ll have to look for footage on youtube i suppose ... salute!
Well that was tasty. Love the Petty set and nice to see you two back together. My best friend used to have those speakers and I always loved them. ✌🏽
Thanks Mazzy we always a good time making these. Yeah those speakers are bold sounding for sure.
Hi Norman. Yeah, they're very lovable speakers.
