No clock? YAY!! I find the glowing clock face disruptive. I am always looking for something to cover the clock with. I have been awakened by an alarm set by a previous traveler. Who among us does not have a cell phone next to the bed? Tap the screen and you know the time, then darkness again.
On one Viking Ocean Cruise, we received an upgrade to the Penthouse Veranda. My wife loved it. She appreciates the large room and space. The champagne was a nice touch to our vacation. Overall, we are in agreement that Viking sets the gold standard for room amenities. We were not bothered by the lack of a clock in room or other items mentioned in the video. We particularly like that we can place our luggage underneath the bed with no problem. There is ample space to do this. On the upcoming Viking Ocean Cruise in 2025, my wife believes the $1,700 per person upgrade from the Deluxe Veranda to Penthouse Veranda is worth it. Who am I to argue with her?
John and Susan from Texas The Penthouse Veranda Stateroom is our first choice. We have sailed on four ocean cruises with Viking. We have lived in the Deluxe and Penthouse Junior staterooms in addition to the Penthouse Veranda. The Penthouse Veranda is by far the best compromise in our view. As for your very minor complaints, they are not any big deal. You forgot to mention that there are NO ICE MACHINES ANYWHERE on the ship!! Of course room service and the attendant will provide ice upon request. Obviously you don't wear a watch and the doors are weather sealed.
I agree that more hooks would be a nice addition. I also think there is too much drawer space and not enough closet space for hanging items. FYI if you ask for more hangers they will provide them.I also had issues with the shower unit. They all need replaced with a better unit.Otherwise I loved the Orion and can’t wait to get back to cruising.
I agree with the lack of closet hanging space. I was alone, so it was fine, but had I been with my female companion on a 2-week+ cruise, I could see issues. Maybe get rid of the dresser in the closet and have another rack for hanging clothes?
Hello again. Just got back from iconic med cruise on viking sea. It was wonderful. Only complaint most folks had was excursions we rushed and not enough time to really enjoy the areas we visited. Thanks again for all your videos. I am a subscriber
I find your video very informative and detailed. I like the pacing of your video..very smooth.. Thank you ❤️ Hoping one day I and my husband can cruise with viking.
Thanks so much for a great video. Was the Penthouse Veranda Stateroom noisy because they all seem to be located near the elevators??? And was the movement more noticeable since that cabin category is located near the front and back of the ship and not mid-ship???
Hello, I really enjoy your videos. I have a question. I have a DV2 room 6096 for upcoming cruise is 13 days. Do think being upgraded to a PV for $700 P/P is worth it? I would like the extra room and amenities . What is your opinion? Thanks
All I can say is that for that price I would definitely do it on a 13 day cruise. Each person has to decide whether or not it is worth it, but that seems like a bargain to me.
This is always the category of room we book on Viking. While we pay more the room we spend a lot of time in our cabin and find the extra space and bathroom and find it well worth it. The only thing I would change is to have taller toilets in the bathroom.
No offence but if you've done any amount of cruising you would bring magnetic hooks and clips with you. Everybody has a cell phone that displays the time. A Clock would be redundant. But if that's the only thing you found wrong, I am so looking forward to my cruise in April. Great info, thanks
Well done! I agree with your review. We think the extra $ for PV1 is worth the money but PV 3 is the same size but no alcohol in mini bar and a few other things you won’t really miss at a cheaper price.
The lack of a clock in the stateroom is something we noticed, and will remedy by taking a small plug-in clock on our next trip. You can take magnetic hooks to add hanging storage. Command brand hooks work, too. They will easily peel off of the wall at the end of your cruise. I think there is no ice bucket in the room because there are no ice machines accessible to guests.
Done two Viking ocean. I agree with nearly everything you reported. I could do without the planetarium; it detracts from my favorite area on the ocean ships - the Explorers lounge. Can't (but will have to) wait to join a Viking ocean cruise.
I'm on Viking Venus right now & they provided us with 2 sets of 10 black surgical grade masks upon embarkation. They also have mask disposal trash cans around & about the ship.
We were on the Viking Sun for its 2020 World Cruise and had. A penthouse veranda. We found it more than ample for a long voyage, quite comfortable, really. We did have an ice bucket which was filled daily, so if you were missing one in your cabin, you just needed to ask. As far as a clock is concerned, we always bring a small alarm clock, so having none provided in the cabin, was not an issue for us.

Never a clock on a ship

The extra storage space on the Penthouse Veranda versus the Deluxe Veranda is really great if you are doing a 2 week or longer cruise.

We stayed in the Deluxe Veranda suite and also thought the balcony door was difficult to open.
Great video - nice, thorough overview of the cabin!
Been checking out your channel!
Just got upgraded to a pv room at a great price. 5 days until we depart for Italy.....so excited. Thanks for the video
Have a great cruise!

My iPhone has a very nice clock and alarm feature. I guess that's why there're 2 USB charging ports on each bedside table.

The excursion issue is common on all cruises. Glad you enjoyed Viking Sea, they are amazing ships.

Susan, this was a very calm sailing, so there was not much movement anywhere on the ship and I never noticed any issue with noise.

Under the bed

We have been in all PV"s and all had mini alcohol you need to tell your cabin person and they will fill with your preferences.

The bathroom seems to be lacking- no separate commode, 1 sink and no tub.
Thank you great info
Where was the thermostat?
Does Viking provide masks? Changing them frequently is a good idea but I don’t want to fill a suitcase with them.
Viking did provide masks. And, they are nice black ones!

Your review was good, but why not think about your audience and do a review of more reasonably priced staterooms/

No bathtub, huh?
Correct!
Actually on the ship RN!

Why to go to such details as to explain which particular items you should put inside of which particular drawer - lost me there
