In the fourth case: Why come back after all of that time to kill Megellic? She was pure evil and never should have been allowed access to her. She asked to take her swimming and she was gone for days? Poor child never stood a chance.
Also, the father was rather naive to think that her mother could be trusted. That was inappropriate and negligent to subject Jelly to that. How horribly tragic.
The way you narrate and collect all the information in these cases just draws me in. I truly look forward to your channel every week. The solved cases on Thursday are my favorite. Just keep on doing what you do. There is nothing you could do to make it any more perfect.

10:43 people with F.A.S. shouldn’t be the drivers if their own lives. The brain development is extremely impaired. Especially if you have problems with impulsive behavior, which this woman had. Ppl with F.A.S. Are not qualified for military service. So either she and her family lied when enlisting, or the military broke protocol to enlist her. Parents failed here.
I assume her adoptive parents didn't know she had F.A.S, since they never met her biological parents and a whole agency handled the adoption. They probably just thought she was a trouble maker and sending her to the military would "straighten her out." It's sad how everything played out.
The last case,why tf didn't her ass get the death penalty or life without parole? How is that baby's life worth anything less. Sentencing judge got it wrong. 😢
Death penalty isn't available in all states, but at the very least she should have gotten life without parole. She tortured that poor child for days before she died. Pure evil!
If you want the real answer, you have to understand how the law works - the child’s death would be categorized as “accidental” (definitely not first degree murder), there was no weapon or specific motive. The mother had not been guilty of such a crime before. These sorts of facts help to decide the sentencing. For a second degree murder charge, the sentencing is high. Previously, I assume they were offering manslaughter, which is an even lower charge.

It appears to have affected her judgement. Really who accepts an invitation into a private home--particularly if one of the residents she accused of rape--to look at baby clothes? Maria Frances Lauterbach didn't ask to be brought into the world by a woman who never considered the effects of drug use on her baby. She did, however, pay the price. Rest In Peace 🕊️
