    Thank you so much for this video!! I rented the same exact trailer today and need to drive 5hrs away and the speed limit on the freeway is 75 mph. I noticed on the trailer it says maximum speed 55. No way I can be driving 55 max.

      It’s a recommendation. Drove from Nashville to Rochester, towing Uhaul trailer 75 - 82 MPH when appropriate, properly loaded, zero issues.

    Hey man, thanks for this video. I wondered if my 2018 Subaru was capable of pulling a trailer of this size from NY to South FL. Thanks again!!

    I did the same in my 4 cylinder mitsubishi outlander but only 500 miles. The fuel economy was cut in half! How did the subaru do with mpg?

    • @jmillertime
      @jmillertime  2 года назад

      Normally on the highway I’m around 30mpg. Towing the full trailer I dropped to around 20mpg.

    I have a 2019 Mitsubishi outlander sport 4 wheel drive option. Gotta drive to northern NJ from Chattanooga TN then from NJ to Maine. Should be fine right? Trailer fully loaded and weight appropriated very well

    • @jmillertime
      @jmillertime  11 месяцев назад

      As long as your within the weight range for towing you should be fine. Just take your time accelerating and give extra time for slowing down.

    Do i meed to get a different hitch or can I use the stock? 2018 Outback. OEM Trailer hitch and flat pin installed at the dealer. Class I, hitch TG 200lbs.

    • @jmillertime

      Recommend that it’s a 2” hitch and not 1-1/4” Not sure which is stock on the outback.

      @@jmillertime Stock is 1 1/4” receiver from the dealer (after market can get 2” hitch but didn’t want to risk pushing the tow capacity)

    I have to do a similar drive soon with my 2016 forester. This will be my first time towing, just curious, is the ball hitch a rise? I’m also getting a 5x8 and my current hitch is about 12’ off the ground….. worried about the ball not meeting the trailer.

      @@jmillertime thank you so much. This was the most helpful video i have watched. I'm doing CT-Austin, later this week, so 1800 miles and all my family was saying subaru's can't tow. Then Uhaul was not helpful when I called and asked about the height for ball mount. I again, cannot thank you enough

      I used a 2” drop receiver that was flipped the other way. You can see in the video that it sits a bit higher.

    How much do you figure the total weight was? They say the trailer alone is 900 lbs

    • @jmillertime
      @jmillertime  Год назад +4

      The trailer was packed full so I would guess around 800-1000lbs of stuff plus the trailer weight.
