Just love his great voice, like liquid gold. Always such great diction when singing in his native language. Still giving joy to millions nearly eleven years after his death at the age of 71. He put so much into each performance and is always genuinely appreciative of the orchestral musicians too. Such a generous soul, and you can hear that warmth and kindness in his voice. He was 60 at this point and the voice is wonderful.
È stato molto fortunato che non è nato quando c'erano tenori del valore di Del Monaco Corelli Tucker Di Stefano Bergonzi Kraus, a quei tempi sarebbe stato un tenore di secondo piano.
He was so dedicated to his music and the audience. Look like he was sick or doesn't feel well but he carried out so perfectly in every note. I have tremendous respect for this artist. The world has lost one of the BEST of all time. Nobody can surpass Pavarotti.
Can't stop listening to Un 'Aura Amorosa. Pavarotti sings Mozart so beautifully, so lyrically, in this aria. You can hear how enthusiatically the audience responds. 💗
@@SAVELOG not such a « provincial « town when it comes to Music. Abbado was at home there,as you know. So many great productions, even with Benigni, and Domingo, once. Pavarotti hailed from not too far, too.
It is interesting with Pavarotti videos and the critics. You will see a video from 1981, and the person will state that while Pav is not at his prime, he is still great in the clip. Then you will see another from 1988, and the person will state that Pav is way past prime, but still is great in this video. The same thing will happen for 1990, 91, 92, 93...96, etc...
He really should have retired by 2000, he always has and always will be my favorite tenor but by then he was becoming a character of himself. He was down to only singing Tosca at the opera house and most arias were being transposed down to accommodate his voice. Frankly had he not undertaken to add Pagliacci to his stage repertoire, I think he would have been better off. His voice wasn't meant for the role and seemed to never have quite the same brilliance after he started performing it on the regular. It was around 92...Pavarotti hit his stride for many years. Really from 1970 to the late 80s he was in a league of his own. With maybe the exception being Domingo, but then your really starting to get in that never ending "who was the greatest tenor" argument.... My opinion in pure vocal brilliance Luciano will never be surpassed, tenors aren't even taught to sing the same way anymore. As for overall staying power, vocal range, timbre and musicianship Placido Domingo is incredible.
@@Will_DiGiorgio I agree on most things you said. But I strongly agree on what you said "tenors aren't even taught to sing the same way anymore". I'm not sure if the "old brethren of italian opera teachers" (if that even exists), was broken along the way. Or is it the fact that singers rely heavily on other resources more. Like singing with falsetto, thin singing, or not using the chest "resonance". Is a shame, I think the singers are comfortable with the way they sing today, and since Pavarotti's passing, literally, opera started dying. And audiences became comfortable on what they are being offered. And they comment on today's singers, and critique on one or another. But you bring one of the old ones into the conversation, and wipes the entire "new order" of singers away. Simple as that.
