    so glad you took the proper precautions with lead, i don't want to see you suffer from heavy metal poisoning

      Thank you I am always as careful as I can be but with lead I feel was extra careful as I no it can be unpleasant 👍

    Lead is fun to melt. Such a low melt temp. Great looking ingots there. Definitely easy to add quick weight to the stack. Speaking of the stack, it looks really good. Great video 👍

      Thank you I plan on starting fresh as of the new year. And yeah lead is really easy to work with and very mesmerising when pouring

    Pouring Lead is like pouring a liquid mirror, it looks great. I myself use an IR thermometer to make sure the Lead doesn't get to hot.
    Fumes start to form at about 480C so I try to keep the temperature between 400 - 450C. When a yellow-ish dust layer starts to form you know it is getting to hot.
    Nice ingots! Stay safe 👍👊

      Thank you I haven’t got an IR thermometer but it is on my list of things to get and yes it was lovely to pour and even watching it back it’s quite mesmerising. Thank you for watching 👍

      Yeah I try not to work with it to much but it was given to me and I can’t turn down free material to work with. Thanks for watching 👍

    I started casting with lead when I was 7 with my father. Love lead and how it looks.
    Watching you heat the lead past the melting point reminded me why you should not overheat the lead.
    Tell Tails of overheated lead is when it Blues while pouring. Just getting too hot.
    Lead is a fabulous material to work with, Great for casting all sorts of ingots, bullets, fishing weights, or trinkets.
    Please get an IR temp gun SOON, lead can be unforgiving if you don't pay attention to temp.
    Good video, Stay Safe!!!

    if you toss in a wax candle before skimming the dross it helps clean the lead better

    • @meltingipswich
      @meltingipswich  2 года назад +1

      Really. Do that work
      I was actually expecting more dross than that
