From what I know, the motors will actually try to compensate and keep the drone flying. So even if you see it working and flying properly, it may cause damage to the motors, for overworking to compensate a broken propeller. It is the same when flying at high altitude and at very low temperatures, when the air density is low, and there is not enough lift generated, the motors will work extra-hard, so keep that in mind! Thanks for the video!
Vibations scrambled the gyroscopes signal so much it didn't know how to react. I've been flying model helicopters since 2005. Only a gyro on yaw (tailrotor) back then. They where hugely sensitive to vibrations, first few gens of flybarless gyro controllers still were. Later versions used a different type of accelerometer in the gyro, much more vibration resistant. What these drones are doing nowadays with stabilization, gps, position lock... is basically magic. I have a Mavic air, doesn't really feel like flying, it's basically a robotic camera. Don't get me wrong I love that thing for what it can do, the video recording stability is mindblowing but the flying itself goes against all my instincts of flying dynamics, momentum and muscle memory. It really flies itself like a videogame no matter what you throw at it. When it comes to just flying thrills I'll take a heli any day. As for prop damage, it's all about balance. Back in the day we did an experiment, remove one mainblade from a heli and counterweight the other side with a heavy piece of metal and the thing flew. Not very well but it flew. PS: Not really trying to make a point here my mind just took a walk.
Good to know! I was using autotrack and it hit my house, only chipping one blade a teeny bit. I'd already used my extras so I'm stuck like this for now. Glad to know it still works fine
I have a broken prop on my DJI mini 3 and yes it can fly, and can be maneuvered...but introduce some wind and it changes things completely. I went flying to catch a cool view a top a hill...and when i hit done breeze, the drone became unresponsive, drifted right..and fell from the sky.. thankfully it readjusted itself and i managed to get back home, but man, was sure she was gone. Since then I've tested it out in some wind and it definitely affects your drone if flying with a broken blade. Maybe the mini 3 props are a little less strong than the mavric, but I'd definitely not use a broken prop for distance flights or in wind or your at risk of loosing your drone!!
lol, I cut my self just barely trying to stop it from crashing. I hit some railings taking off because of the wind it was not very hard but dented my propellers I changed them but seems like my drone is wobbling just a little did I mess it up?
This was my fear that if I knicked a branch and broke a wing what would happen to my drone. Crazy the motors are that strong for taking that much impact.
Well if you have a better blade to use then you shouldnt use a damaged one. Its at your own risk, but for low easy flights you can probably use it, but for more long range or dangerous flights I will always use a nice propeller.
What about missing one of the locking tabs? I cracked a couple and coated the cracks in e6000, flew perfectly but one now has a broken tab. I’m a bit scared to send it up while waiting on replacements
Thanks for the demo. Certainly impressive how much damage the blades can have and still fly. Sorry you had cut your fingers in the process. I’ve been flying my Mavic Pro for over a year, still using the original props which have no nicks or scratches yet.
Yo bro I just got my mini and I flew it into a wall and scratched my props and it didn’t fly good at all it kept moving to the right and not flying so the props are pretty weak on the mini but still an amazing drone
Dunno if this is true, I have never needed to buy additional props really, only got a few for free from points. The ones I got from the beginning almost always last me, I break the first set, then go good on the second one for years
Dude you were so close to a good joke. Had you cut your middle finger and said it will live to fly another day and then you could have said and so will the drone. That would have been hilarious.
You should be expecting a crash. You should also not teach people it is okay to fly with damaged props. The balance of the blades is crucial. If they are not balanced (pieces missing on them) they will cause a vibration that could and most likely will transfer to the motors on the unit. I would NEVER fly with unbalanced blades. Do as you wish but if you continue to fly with broken parts the whole thing will be broken soon.
I wouldnt really call this teaching people to fly with damaged props, its more of an experiment... and it comes with a real life warning at the end in the form of my fingers ;)
Is your finger ok??? I crashed my first drone yesterday and I was worried, but been doing research and it's normal and ok... lol. I sent the owner of the company I work for which owns the drone links of Google to calm him down that it's normal and ok. Thanks Google...

The technology just continues to amaze me. I never would have imagined it would fly with that much prop damage. Thanks for takng one for the team!

I'm a simple guy, I see blood sacrifice for a drone, I click like

This is a brilliant video, I have a Mavic mini covered in blood🤦🏼♂️😂👍🏻 [i tried to fly it in my living room]

Wow that crack..... was actually on the wrong side of propeller.. but I still enjoy watching this.
Underrated
What happens when flying it in the wind in sport mode?
lol, I cut my self just barely trying to stop it from crashing. I hit some railings taking off because of the wind it was not very hard but dented my propellers I changed them but seems like my drone is wobbling just a little did I mess it up?
I like your style. Hope your finger grew back. :)
This was my fear that if I knicked a branch and broke a wing what would happen to my drone. Crazy the motors are that strong for taking that much impact.
Thx for the experiment 😅
some sacrifice for science 😀
Very nice tests. I feel even more confident about these propellers and about the Mavic after seeing your video. 👍👍
Nice video.. So if blade have small damage.. Is that Okey?

where i can buy dji tello drome props?
I felt that lawn mowing
Great Tips and very informative video tutorial💖
5:39 OUCH! That’s happened to me once... of course the props weren’t broken I was just an idiot who didn’t know how to use a drone 😅
Happens to the best of us
You all right man dude omg you should of tourn the controller off because it shuts off inmdently that's my hint
What about missing one of the locking tabs? I cracked a couple and coated the cracks in e6000, flew perfectly but one now has a broken tab. I’m a bit scared to send it up while waiting on replacements
Great video, ty
Great video, crashed my mini 2 this morning and I chipped the base of one prop. I hope your hand heals soon
This what i called real world test review, not the spect sheets read type.
WOW, that's a really tough prop.
Like Ford finger bro 😂😃
Can i fly with little broken prop mm
and i was worried aobut a 1mm chip causing issues because of the errors on the app, thanks
DJI builds well
My old bebop 2 was flying with two broken propellers
Thanks for the demo. Certainly impressive how much damage the blades can have and still fly. Sorry you had cut your fingers in the process. I’ve been flying my Mavic Pro for over a year, still using the original props which have no nicks or scratches yet.
Nobody likes a show off... i placed mine in the side of the flower bed wall in first 10 minutes after package arrived hahaha
what if the propeller has a broken clip.. could it fly off the motor? will it result into a crash? i'm a greenhorn
how do you think a mini will manage with a couple lightly chipped props? great video man!
Yo bro I just got my mini and I flew it into a wall and scratched my props and it didn’t fly good at all it kept moving to the right and not flying so the props are pretty weak on the mini but still an amazing drone
@@ramzidugum3568 thanks, i was wondering about changing mines before trying another flight, glad i did jaja salute!
i can't fly my drone dji mavic air now coz it has no battery. it's very expensive
Sizzors❌ roof,road,and tree✅
Dji really tries to get you spend a lot of money on props. They are fairly durable, should be changed but not as sensitive as most of you think
Dunno if this is true, I have never needed to buy additional props really, only got a few for free from points. The ones I got from the beginning almost always last me, I break the first set, then go good on the second one for years
This was a very good video. I might have to get this drone. Sorry about your finger.
Loooool sounds like wen I got attacked from mine indoors. The props absolutely killed three of my fingers
when a man is cut on the fingers, what would happen to a pigeon pufff
Fortunately I have never had to find out
Give him a like people
4:09 most evil moment ever
Do what I can
Dude you were so close to a good joke. Had you cut your middle finger and said it will live to fly another day and then you could have said and so will the drone. That would have been hilarious.
sorry about your finger. now we know that tiny dent won't cost problem to fly.
Thanks for this! Sorry about your digits. :(
No worries I have a few spares
I cut my nail once... :D
Flew mine into a chair
Full throttle Sean lmao same
I was playing it out side and the wind blew it into the wall and crashed into rocks
i don't like the blood
The only thing is sensors like gyro are balancing the drone.... Its useless experiment doing such dumb things.
Plz cut all 4 proplers

Yeah after a few days it was back to normal
