A friend of mine used to dumpster dive at Panera and get bags full of day old bagels. Sad the food was thrown away and not donated somewhere. Just like the food and clothing that you found could have been taken to a shelter but instead got thrown away.

I used to work for a private company that threw away hundreds of electronic products regularly into dumpsters. We had to slash them with razors/destroy them to avoid individuals from retrieving it so to prevent false returns or resale. The sad thing is that a product’s shelf life is about 6mos so once an item goes out of season, more products are manufactured and older items just get discarded or auctioned off. The more consumerism-the more landfill.
I believe it ! But where I dive I find stuff you can definitely still use they just mark out the barcodes so you can't return the item , which I think is a perfect solution! I'm sure there is another aspect to it but to completely destroy just breaks my heart . Thanks for chiming in and stopping by 🥰

Great score! TJ Maxx is always good to us. About a week after we started doing videos the one a block down from us put locks on their dumpster because of the homeless pulling bags out and trashing up the area but we do have two other ones. Happy Diving and Stay Safe.

We don't mind it as much since we started dumpster diving and meeting other divers. It give us the opportunity to recover it and get it to people in need. Even some of the thrift store in the Albuquerque have crazy prices on clothing items. I understand they have to make money but $5 to $7 for a plane pocket T Shirt is crazy. I just purchased a 6pk of Hanes plane pocket Ts form Walmart about two weeks ago for $23. That's about $3.84 a shirt.

At my TJ Maxx nothing is thrown in a compactor except for damaged items and opened food. Everything that’s not sold IS donated!
