Loved this cast. Elsie and Hilda had their family around was amazing it shows a different softer side to them. Irma and Linda are great. When the Barlow’s and Ogden’s were connected is fantastic. Albert is pure gold. Great episode. 5 stars
The thing is, we as audiences, have become desensitized to the ordinary comings and goings in soaps. The script writers have adapted to serial killers, rapes etc to keep us watching. They might want to entertain the thought we need retraining and bring us back to basics.
Love this! I’ve been trying to formulate this very thought into a somewhat articulate sentence for so very long indeed…. you however have put it absolutely perfectly. The soaps now are just purely designed to grab ratings & outdo each other. There’s no, how shall I put it…. empathy anymore?!
This was made the year I was born. Great to see David and Irma. Don't remember them but heard all about them. Remember my mum watching hickory house with me and saying "that's Ken Barlows brother!"🥰
Corrie scriptwriters could take a leaf out of the old episodes and see how dross Corrie is now it's full of kids years ago it was Val's twins and Christopher Hewitt and Lucille herself
At the point 14:54 Annie Walker is saying what is always in Mike Baldwin's mind at all times! He entered Coronation Street 8 years and 10 months later.
Not watched this early before - Dave, the man with the girl on the bike, in the 70's/ 80's ended up doing a childrens show 'Music Box' on ITV in the mornings & is now almost totally forgotten, must be a bitter feeling, I hope he was successful in some other way.
Hilda Ogden and Elsie Tanner had a personality Clash. Eddie Yeats was like a son to Hilda. As you know Dennis is Elsie's son. I wonder how Dennis TANNER and Eddie Yeats would get on if they knew each other as well as Elsie and Hilda do?
I'm a bit confused linda her husband and 1st son paul are there but there's no mention of other son martin in his bio it says he was born in 1964 so that would make him 3 years old in this episode

Lovely episode, written by Geoffrey Lancashire, father of Sarah.

Perfect , and very well put, and So true

Thank you for uploading this episode of Coronation Street Auntie Corrie2
I married an American in the Navy, moved from the UK, I totally identify with Elsie.
Simple but very entertaining. Sadly this programme would use the Christmas Day episode for some kind of murder, cot death et al. these days.
I agree. Soaps try too hard these days. Sad really. It's the little things that make it more endearing and comedic. 🥰
I was born 15 months after this love these corrie episodes
I was born exactly nine months after this
I was 3 months old when this went out
I remember in the late 60s ,having sports days between different youth clubs in Manchester, always ended with the tug of war
My birthday..12/25/1967...9:07 pm
Time Traveler's Talk ❤️💐

Classic 👌🙏
Them were t'days! XXX
I was conceived in Rochdale the north of England on this night. This was on in the background.
If only my old man had worn a condom.....
Irma to David.." you'll feel better after you've tugged"....😊

Albert catching himself on that Holly was genuinely funny

Chillmax loved Music Box . Used to pretend to be sick to stay at home and watch . Told my nan I had to watch as it was educational
@@donnajones6131 It was Picture Box, a classic school's programme.
Alan Rothwell, and it's Picture Box. It's a cult classic for kids TV actually.
He was in Hickory House and Brookside as Nicholas Black (the ones I remember) he married Heather I remember that storyline..he was druggie.

Picture box
All that innuendo about tugging and flicks of the wrist. Who wrote this script - Bernard Manning? Lol!
Maybe its just you got a filthy mind lovie
how much hay did he have to drink

Steve Zodiac!
Who is the little girl on the bicycle with David Barlow?
Her name is Jill Morris-a girl David and Irma fostered whilst her own mother was in hospital.
@@alexanderjones9572 thanks
