Hey Edward, how would you compare the NDH 30 with something like the AKG k712 pro ????? (though it's a relatively lesser priced option and in a different segment)

Nice review but I wish you had said a little more about the sound..Are they a clear step up from Dt 880 for example or hd 600 in instrument separation for busy tracks with lots of instruments or a little?
I'm agonizing about this myself. If you purchased them please let me know. I have 880 pro and because of the price of the Neumann NDH30, I could really use some advice.

Forgive me if this has already been pointed out, but you’re wearing them the wrong way around! Wire comes out of the RH side for some reason. Given that the drivers are offset in the cups this will drastically affect the sound!

I am biased in neither direction. Got NDH30 and DT1990 from their respective factory web-shops. At 3-4 KHz got a sort of "hiss" with DT1990. In general dt1990 was much less colorful in the mid, less round, and less colorful in the low end. DT1990 went back a week ago. Do recording & mixing opera (soprano, mezzo-soprano) and classical music

I own the DT 1990 and I wonder if this NDH30 can be a better daily driver for me, for music listening, media consumption and ofc music.
I've modded mine with Dekoni elite velours and tamed a bit more treble via EQ. Can a "true" flat HP like this one can be my endgame ? :p
hello, I used 1990, the high frequencies cut my hearing a lot, but now I have ndh 20, I think there are better headphones, only lcd 4 xc are higher than them
so if you work with sound or just want to enjoy music, take it! ndh 20 or 30! The 1990 don't sound close, they are very tough, and the release of the new ndh 30 is a step forward!
I have the DT 990 Pro and these felt like a very nice upgrade

@@jcap8391 it actually will, because the drivers arent the same on these. My guess is he is wearing em backwards because of muscle memory. On most headphones, the wire is on the left.
@rist98 That's exactly why he's wearing them backwards, but his mistake makes this review next to worthless.
EDIT: I almost stopped watching right off the bat when I saw he was wearing them backwards, but decided to keep watching. In some of the footage, he is wearing them correctly, but I still feel like any sound impressions are worthless if he did indeed wear them incorrectly and didn't realize that he was doing so, and also failed to address the mistake in any way.
They dont care about real sound they get free headphone and money from headphone company..

you should look into the new audeze mm-500 headphones, would be interested to hear your thoughts, as it's a studio series offering from a audiophile focused brand, it's new so not sure u can get your hands on it fast but either way look into it and lmk what you think!

Nice content as always! Can you do a video on how to properly set up a tube mic to your iMac or computer? I’m considering getting the Rode k2 mic but not sure how to set it up properly. Do you still need an interface like the Scarlett to do so? Thank you! :)
For a tube microphone you will likely need:
- the tube microphone and it’s power supply and/or preamp
- XLR cable
- audio interface to convert the analog to digital
If using a tube microphone I’d probably be using a dedicated preamp for it as the Scarlett preamps are not great quality. They are okay but they are entry level and about the “lowest” quality “professional” home audio interface you can get. Personally I’d recommend a MOTU or an RME. If I was using a tube mic I’d probably be using a Neve 1073 preamp and an black lion audio LA2A / 1173 combo limiter/compressor for the vocal chain.
No point in buying expensive mics and then buying cheap preamps and converters.

I've owned them for 3 years. I've also owned Focal Stellias, ZMF Verite, ZMF Eikon, Audeze LCDXC and a plethora of other expensive closed backs. NDH 20 was the best and most trustworthy.
I own them and listen they have to be the best tracking headphones period they don’t bleed

I use NDH 30 with SoundID reference. It is even better 10X.
Can you give me a suggestion for any hedphone to mix and mastering and trust the low end . Because i have a bad room so i cant get a studio monitor .
This is the good choice for mixing and mastering
Like many big name producers have told me in the past. You need to learn your headphones or monitors. What ever they are and always use a reference of your favorite recordings to compare.
Just got the NDH-30's today, and I'm not a fan. Sticking with my DT 1990's.

Personally I have the left channel on my left ear instead of putting the headphones backwards, but each to their own...

Why would you be using open back headphones for tracking though? These headphones are for mixing. If you wanted tracking headphones you should have gone with closed back headphones
I loved the sound of these, but sent them back for the same reason (excessive cable noise). The cable noise happens with very slight movement, and I’m surprised reviewers have yet to mention it.

Is it ok to buy akg k72? Does it sounds flat and good for production and mixing/mastering?
I have both the k72 are ok for mixing but way better at everything else than that. They have a huge sound stage at times it feels too distant. Sold my ndh 20 for 30s. Sound better but still uncomfortable as sht compared to k72

@@hannibalhector3719 I have the ndh 30. Nothing special tbh. They sound alot like my r70x. You stick with your badass headphones. My R70x are actually flat. These ndh 30s are more natural. I bought them for editing and they are perfect for it. I wouldn't say they are the best for music though

I know I'm a nobody in this regard, but I had the chance to compare them both IRL, and the beyer indeed had a "harsh" feeling in the high freq. range. the neumann actually sounded excellent. Please go ahead and go to a shop where you can try the neumann, it actually does worth it IMHO.
on beginning Edward talks so slow i had to change video speed to x1.5. Then he speeds in the middle and slows again...stop recording on methadone...
