Warriors needed to reduced financial burden taking one big salary out between Curry, Green and Thompson, they choose Thompson, giving him the only option of reducing salary. It wasn’t the reduction what hurts, it was the fact that he was the chosen one. Warriors could have requested a split reduction among three of them, that could have been more fair. But I guess curry considered he is still contributing way more. About Green contribution… I guess Warriors like his punches

Nico deserves a lot of credit in making a dollar out of fifteen cents. Grant Williams was not going to work out and he corrected that quick. Grimes looks like a more polished version of what we wanted Green to be. Excellent defender and can make hustle plays. When resigning DJJ was complicated due to him changing agents, he pivoted to Naji. He's also more polished than DJJ offensively. DJJ can jump through the roof but his 3s were not hitting consistently during the Finals. Klay should be a seamless fit.

Luka needs to shave off 2 three point attempts per game and give them to Klay. Luka has a tendency to settle for threes, but Dallas is so much better with Luka attacking the paint and finding shooters.
He was clearly injured in the playoffs, so his penchant for jacking up bad three point attempts (rather than driving) was grossly exaggerated.
He can get that step back three at any point in the possession, so why not probe for a better shot before taking the three?

Jones JR. is a huge loss and although the acquisition of Naji and Grimes softens that blow quite a bit, it doesn't nullify it.
Mavs Perimeter Defense is worse, but we didn't lose in the finals because of defense, we lost because we were literally breaking records for horrific shooting. We needed an offensive spark and if we brought Klay in to be our second option scorer, this would be a mistake. But as our likely third scoring option? Tasked with nothing but hitting open shots? Mavericks can only improve if Luka takes less shots and becomes a better playmaker. I disagree that argument he had no one to pass it too. The guy has no business shooting 10 3s a game period. If you told me Kyrie got more shot attempts because there is no one else to pass it to then I agree but Luka shooting that many bad shots just hurts the team. why would I want Luka to shoot 10 3s over Luka shooting 6 but in return Kyrie shot 2 more and you split 4 3s between Pj/Green/Djj/Thj? it doesn't even make sense that the answer to a poor Dallas shooting performance would be Luka shoot bad step back shots ruin everyones rhythm and force the others to get only late shot clock attempts.
