Amazing stuff and lovely to see. It brought back memories of my own custom bits and bobs that I would make for my toys, that I'd kind of forgotten about.
People talk about “grails” but these are the true grails - you can’t put a price on those and a one-off, so a true grail. The memories those must hold is beyond any value. I think I told you how my one true grail is the A-Team van and corvette my dad hand painted for me from a 1:64 scale die cast vehicles that I sold in a lot before moving to the states. Would do anything to get those back into my collection!
Wow! Those are some of the most charming toys I've ever seen. You were truly talented. I was proud of myself when I made replacement light sabers for my Star Wars figures by coloring the shafts of a q-tip. Lol! At the same time you were making these works of art. Thank you for sharing these with us.
Lol loved seeing your childhood share ,man u were a busy young man very gifted. Like I to kept myself busy in little projects mainly in art drawings which I still hav to day ,it’s a great joy seeing something yrs later u kept.
nice..im not surprised u were able to make those toys at such a young age...children have alot of energy and if focus those energies the result is wonderful
Absolutely love these. Very creative. I remember another video showing toys you hand made. I used to make hand drawn Star Wars mini comic books as a kid. I wish i still had them.
As a big Ghostbusters fan i am impressed with all your creations but that stay puft and slimer is so cool. I would never have had the attention span to do that as a kid but i do repair vintage toys thanks to your inspiration. Great work as always!
Thank you so much for sharing these with us! They all look amazing and definitely showed your artistic flair & imagination from a young age. There’s no way I’d be able to do any of them today, let alone in my youth. They really are incredible. My personal favourite of your crafts was the Ram Man.
Congratulations Dave on 10 years of Toy Polloi!! I’ve really enjoyed the channel for years now. And those toys you’ve made as a child are impressive. Continued success, my friend!!
Dave, your INCREDIBLE creativity was always there from a young age. You have helped me personally as I repair toys myself now, pretty much 90% of my knowledge has come directly from you. Your passion truly shows as many of us share it also. Thank you for an amazing 10 years & looking forward to the next 10! Cheers
Happy Tenth! buy yourself something made of tin. I wish I could show you a picture of a robin I hand sewn into existence, haha. Great episode. brought up a lot of memories. - Joe
DANG! A 10, 12 year old did these amazing creations!! It's a wonder you didn't become some type of engineer or architect. But you're still doing great work anyway.
All of this reminds me of my childhood when I didn't have a specific toy, like Transformers or Megazords from Power Rangers, I made them in cardboard and visual memory (or pictures from sticker albums), and I made them being able to transform back and forth. I was so in transformable mechs back then, and I'm still on them now. I also made some Star Wars vehicles when the Special Editions came out, and each year my skills improved, so I was able to make more complicated stuff, even as a teenager I still loved toys and cartoons, so I made everything I loved and wanted to have in toy form in cardboard. These skills I got during the years are still with me to this day, and I use them to make accessories for my flea market toys, it always feels like magic for me to make stuff for toys! Thanks for sharing, Dave! Your old and new stuff is so amazing!
I love that your mom has kept all of these wonderful items. You definitely were creative as a child. Those Doozers are amazing for a 12 year old. I remember making models as a child and a wrestling ring for my WWF wrestling figures. Can’t beat a child’s imagination. 👏👏👏
A very touching video, Dave. You certainly were a talented child! All of these creations look amazing, and it's wonderful that your mum kept them all. Clearly a huge amount of motherly pride!! :-)
I said it before and I’ll say it again, you helped me fix a lot of my old toys by giving me the ideas of how and why. I now even repair things non-toy related with toy parts 😂 On to the next ten years 🎉
Wow, those Trap Door toys were a blast from the past! I too made my own toys when there weren’t any to buy (at least, not in rural Australia in the 1980s where I was) but they were nowhere near as accomplished as yours. I do recall creating a Davros from Doctor Who. Luke Skywalker or Obi-Wan was a decent stand-in for the Doctor but I was lacking appropriate villains. I used a broken Spider-Man (he was missing his legs) and I created a chair for him using a lid from a spray can as the basis. Unfortunately, unlike you, I haven’t retained any of those handmade toys. Great video Dave and happy anniversary to the channel.
Excellent work... and excellent taste in music. Nearly 60 and I still listen to my Jarre albums on vinyl. Thanks for a superb look into your childhood.
Dave! These are AMAZING! The skills required to put together any of those toys-let along the variety of them-is incredibly complex, and I love the idea that making the toys was as entertaining as actually playing with them. Puts me right back in my childhood, though I never achieved anything this this! Thanks so much for sharing these!
First off - congrats on "officially" hitting that 10 year milestone!! Secondly, I must say, I'm absolutely blown away by these creations from when you were younger. Every once in a while I'll find something creative that I did as well that I won't remember at all or remember very vaguely. It's really cool to see these unique treasures and just how creative you were way back then to make these excellent items. It's no surprise to know that you were this talented, having seen your work these days and all the solutions that you've come up with and continue to come up with for fixing and repairing so many great toys. Thanks so much for sharing these with us, this is a real treat. Cheers to the next 10 years my friend! Long Live Toy Polloi.
I gotta tell you Dave. Those look absolutely phenomenal. I started carving decoys, and little dancing figures out of wood when I was around 10yrs old. Even with that. I don't think the thought of making toys from certain shows I watched even crossed my mind. Net alone actually doing it. The amount of care, detail, and time that went into these. Would be next level even for an adult. Looks to me like Toy Polloi has been a life time project even if you didn't know as a child. Truly amazing. As always thanks again not only for what you do now, but what you did as a child that led up to it.
This was a great look at some of your childhood creations and the stories behind them. All these things must have taken a lot of time and patience and it's brilliant that you still have them to enjoy. Thanks for showing us Dave!👍
This was cool. Love these types of vids. Love it when you do custom works as well. Hope you're on here for another 10 years. Hope I'm here to watch also.
Thanks for sharing your childhood with us, Dave! It does explain a lot, and seeing those is something that is very impressive! For a child to make those, and for those to have lasted is astoundingly cool! No wonder you also like the Smurfs! I was a huge fan of the Smurfs growing up, and I can draw them all from memory.
Aww, bless! Impressive fabric work, learning to sew when young is a skill that's always useful as are any handicraft skills. Plasticine was always a Big Thing when I was a kid, Ray Harryhausen monsters filled my shelves as well as got trodden into the carpet! The Ram Man's a lot of fun, don't worry, even a non He Man fan like me can tell what it is! I was always enthusiastic about making accessories for my existing toys; Action Man, Micronauts and later on Star Wars, Spaceships, playsets and the like that I couldn't afford. The problem was that I'd make the Ships and stuff mainly out of the now very expensive boxes for other toys! Well it was recycling, or so I tell myself now through gritted teeth... Great video Dave! 😁👍
Really impressive. To keep these nice things and not get thrown away. Thanks to your mom. Nowadays I observe kids playing today hours and hours and hours and hours with their playing consoles. I don’t get it. Others are consuming their leisure time on social media and smartphones. It is another place another time. In my childhood we built all things from tv shows with lego bricks. But unfortunately there aren’t any pictures and footage at all. Keep up the good work.
The Trap Door ones are brilliant. I always wished Berk, Boni, and Drutt had toys when I was a kid. I sometimes tried making them out of plasticine, but of course they would never last.
Incredible memories, I was similar making things, especially lightsabres out of metal tubes and torch parts and other random stuff from my dads tool kits, in the days of course before replica ones and even toy ones. When i was 14 made a guns n roses concert stage from the use your illusion tour of 1992 ha. That is still in my loft actually and like you dave dont think i could really contsruct it again purely from card board and the old bostik glue!
That was a great video! I love the background city scape and keyboards you created for the JmJ concert. I always thought his shows were amazing. His music made you feel creative and you did it justice! That Awing is great too.. make some more ships that what I say👌🏼
Wonderful. Did the same, made my own toys when they were not available in France, but with far less talent than what you show here :D Thanks for sharing :)
Love this video. You clearly have always had a talent. And I have to say that everything you were into as a kid is a mirror of my ear Early life. JJM was supposed to record a live track with Astronaut Ron Mcnair, so he dedicated that track to him in Houston live. Great to see all this dave. 👏
I've got one of those mail-away Tony the Tiger games from back of the Frosties boxes! It was a game where you put water in it then have to push the button which made a puff of air go in to the water and ou had to get the little plastic rings to float on to Tony's tail.
Impressive as hell. My own efforts were limited to replacement uniforms for my Star Trek MEGOs, or stuff made out of either soft modelling clay or construction paper. None of that survived. :( You've been pretty creative for a long time :)
I'd love to see a video of you tackling these projects using current-day materials and techniques, particularly Trap Door. Seems like you ould make tv-accurate versions in plasticine or some such thing. You could maybe try making a Ghostbusters jumpsuit for Real Ghostbusters figures to make then movie accurate.
Wow, the Pom Pom toys bring back memories, I made ( with help from my mam ) the caterpillar from the opening credits of let’s pretend from green Pom poms and painted green boiled eggs for the school Easter competition and from there on we were always making them for various stand ins , I made one as close as I could pattern wise to a crude looking Death Star to hang over my ewok village. It’s amazing what you forget until something like this jogs the memory.
Wow, that’s pretty amazing, especially the band . . . That almost look like there an actual line of toys :) . . . I’ve taken inspiration from shows on occasion to make something out of Lego, but no where near that level of creativity.
..also recently found the weapon for one of my star wars figures that my mum bought, klattu weapon. missing for years along with others, but 2 weeks ago found it lodge inside an edwardian piano stool seat my mum had restored and kept loads of cassette tapes inside of it. it was lodged under the base wood and side of the seat barely visable. It must been there since end of the 80s and i must of been playing with the figures using the inside of the stool seat as jabbas palace rancor pit or something ha!
This was a brilliant episode Dave!! A proper trip down memory lane.. This video brought so much nostalgia for me, as I used to make things myself back in the day…. ...some things never change 😉
They look pretty good
Amazing stuff and lovely to see. It brought back memories of my own custom bits and bobs that I would make for my toys, that I'd kind of forgotten about.
Awesome work Dave, Falco is just too damn cool!
Great. A born designer, and a natural problem-solver. Very impressive
Thank you very much!

that takes me back! not sure my fimo creations survived the younger siblings, but I will have to go into the parents attic and check one of these days
Those JMJs are incredible. Amazing you’ve still got it all.
Love the Doozers are adorable. Think you should remake one for a future episode.

Hey Dave
Very nice homemade toys!
Would be cool to watch you make a few of them again.
Take care and Happy Weekend to you and MrsTP 😊
Thanks 👍
I just loved this episode! TYSM for sharing with all of us.
You are so welcome!
DANG! A 10, 12 year old did these amazing creations!! It's a wonder you didn't become some type of engineer or architect. But you're still doing great work anyway.
Great to get a peek of Tiny Toy Polloi and your amazing skills!
These are incredible. The level of the builds and attention to detail is amazing. And very clever solutions to make toys you wanted.
Thank you very much! I'm not sure I could make these again today.
All of this reminds me of my childhood when I didn't have a specific toy, like Transformers or Megazords from Power Rangers, I made them in cardboard and visual memory (or pictures from sticker albums), and I made them being able to transform back and forth. The handmade Drutt was incredible. The face was bang on! 😂👏
The Ram Man in the box was freaking adorable. I absolutely love the way it’s a childhood hand made toy with a modern made case and backing. Brilliant!
Thanks. I remember making the felt Ram Man and thought it was long gone so I was amazed to see him again.
I love that your mom has kept all of these wonderful items. You definitely were creative as a child. Those Doozers are amazing for a 12 year old. I remember making models as a child and a wrestling ring for my WWF wrestling figures. Can’t beat a child’s imagination. 👏👏👏
Absolutely incredible! No doubt about it, you were destined to be a toy man! I’m so glad your mum kept your creations!
Thank you so much! I can't believe these things still exist myself. And that they are still mostly intact.
A very touching video, Dave. You certainly were a talented child! All of these creations look amazing, and it's wonderful that your mum kept them all. Clearly a huge amount of motherly pride!! :-)
Thank you! Cheers!
Congrats on 10 years and look forward to another 10 years!!
Those cloth figures look amazing, especially from a child of that age. Congratulations on 10 successful years of saving our childhood toys.
Thank you so much!
I said it before and I’ll say it again, you helped me fix a lot of my old toys by giving me the ideas of how and why.

Dave, these figures you made as a kid are pretty impressive! I think you are a very creative artist, even back in the past as a kid. Well done!
Thank you very much
This is incredible. And also the best toy related video I’ve watched in quite some time.
Thank you so much 😀
Brilliant Dave, here's to the next 10 years and continued growth.
This was amazing, such great treasures! Thanks for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it!

Great video Dave! 😁👍
Man, these are ADORABLE
That stay puff marshmallow man is incredibly cute! Really nice things you made. I used to draw superheroes and make up my own, I have loads of them.
Oh cool!
Thanks!
Wow thanks 👍
Really impressive. To keep these nice things and not get thrown away. Thanks to your mom. Nowadays I observe kids playing today hours and hours and hours and hours with their playing consoles. I don’t get it. Others are consuming their leisure time on social media and smartphones. It is another place another time. In my childhood we built all things from tv shows with lego bricks. But unfortunately there aren’t any pictures and footage at all. Keep up the good work.
Wow both amazing and heartwarming
Absolutely amazing Dave, I love this 👍👍
Thank you! Cheers!
Theses are all creations, amazing!! Congratulations for your 10th anniversary 🎉🤓👍🏼👍🏼
Thanks so much! 😊
The A Wing and ATST look as though they could be chess pieces. Excellent work
The Trap Door ones are brilliant. I always wished Berk, Boni, and Drutt had toys when I was a kid. I sometimes tried making them out of plasticine, but of course they would never last.
Very nice! Congratulations on ten years bud.
"Vienna Calling" randomly pops into my head even after all these years.
This is just an adorable video. Thanks for sharing this! I wonder if we'll see some fimo or felt show up in one of your 2024 fixes! 😃
Ha ha. Maybe!!
REALLY AWESOME!..THX MOM!!!
Most impressive David👌
Just amazing!!!
RamMan!!! Yes 🙌🏼 ❤
This is so wonderful.
10 years on youtube 💪😎 congratulations brother 🤜🤛
That was a great video! I love the background city scape and keyboards you created for the JmJ concert. I always thought his shows were amazing. His music made you feel creative and you did it justice! That Awing is great too.. make some more ships that what I say👌🏼
Glad you enjoyed it!
Wonderful.
Did the same, made my own toys when they were not available in France, but with far less talent than what you show here :D

Cool toys action figure collection ❤😊
Congratulations! Love your channel.
Love this video.
You clearly have always had a talent.
And I have to say that everything you were into as a kid is a mirror of my ear

Fragile Rock was my sisters favourite… I remember singing the theme tune at school (the rude version😳)
