The arrangement is superb and the contrast between Alison Goldfrapps sultry vocal during the verses and her soprano voice treated electronically is extraordinary. Listen to Pilots by Goldfrapp.
Don't sleep on b-side *"Fondue Knights"* & *"Pilots",* the album's key track. Less downtempo & more Scott Walker-influenced, _Felt Mountain_ is a journey to take. Shame Goldfrapp never did a Bond theme.
I think something interesting to note is that the high pitched sound between the verses is Alison's operatic vocal being manipulated and processed. Quite the vocalist!
She’s driving an MS-20 synthesizer with her voice. Will is manipulating the Cutoff filters and lfo on vibrato of the MS-20 while she’s screaming into it. But for it to sound as good as that, she has to have really accurate pitch control.
Their best song imho is deer stop from the same albumit's a dark and sensual electronic ballad with equally haunting string arrangements and the vocal manipulation on that one is something to marvel at
The whole "Felt mountain" album is the closest to perfection I ever heard...
One of the best and most unique bands to come out of the UK music scene!

Great album! The perfect blend of Ennio Morricone/EddaD’Orso, Portishead and Lamb! Absolute perfection of an album.
You need to watch a video of her live when she screams into the synthesizer, it will give you goosebumps!

Yes by an MS20 synth
At this point, you might as well do the whole album. :)
The the you think is an electric instrument is actually her voice using distortion and her soprano voice.

Stunning album,Alison is just amazing.
