One of the greatest UK vocalists ever and still an amazing live performer. This album is in some ways the least accessible and challenging listen. They now have 6 or 7 albums, all different in style and tone. The Tales of Us is meant to be a heard/viewed as series of individual dramatic stories. I would recommend Horse Tears from Felt, Monster love from 7th Tree and Clay from Tales. Great songs and great stories.
yes the "distortion box " is a Korg MS-20. And yes, is very difficult , especially in a live , as in this one : ruclips.net/video/D2QUjs4mnrQ/видео.html
Unique sound Goldfrapp had on their debutalbum but i was dissapointed the unique sound changed. The song Utopia is their or her Magnum opus who would dare to say no? Live version of Utopia at the Conan o Brien show is great too.
I think “Lovely Head” was a single. I love the tracks “Felt Mountain “ and “Utopia “ as well as the rest of the album. I like your interpretation of this track, nice one 😊
2:46 LOLOLOLOLOLOL that s actually Alison s voice processed through an effect they came upon randomly and decided to use. pretty loud (too much, I find) in the mix and quite shocking. GOLDFRAPP was such an extraordibary revelation to me (2000, their first album). the track 'Utopia' is my fave. I m their biggest fan. can t wait for a new album... but when? when? WHEEEEEEEEEEN?
Felt Mountain is the greatest soundtrack ever written for a spy film that never existed.
The first time I heard this song I was floored! Absolutely love it. It is so hypnotic.

I saw them support Duran Duran In Nottingham, Easter Sunday 2004 and left when Duran took the stage HAHA!
That made me laugh. DD are nowhere near as good as Goldfrapp
HAHHAHAHHAHHAHHAAAAAAAAAA
And that astonishing noise is her, singing into a distortion box of some sort, apparently it’s very difficult and needs amazing control

Amazing
I love this song so much, thank you for your reaction! Her voice is amazing, and this whistling melody is so haunting, so beautiful. Incredible.
The first I ever heard of Goldfrapp was the song utopia which blew me away then I heard the album felt mountain and this track And I was sold
Utopia is definitelly their Magnum opus. Unique song.

I think that "Pilots" is the best track on the album.
Amazing song 😍
The song is about an unrwquired love? She is look8ng how her lover is geting away. She loves him but his is mad.
Duran Duran backing band? This is vastly superior artistically to any thing they did.
