    My Carina E (2.0, 3S-FE) is 24 years old and runs perfect. I bought her at 2008 and I am 3rd owner. Now she has 300kkm.

    pinacle of unbreakable engineering! after 20 years still zero problems.
    Howerver, 2 german cars that I also had during that time had numerous problems....

    the facts are very simple im own a carina 1.6 116 hp.the car give 220 top speed at the tachometer but the real speed is 210.the engine have 180000 km and doesnt burn oil at all.i buy the car for 1000 euros and now i give 4500 euros to make it gti and change all the interior.its way better from a new car all the carina lovers understand it and someone who knows about cars understands that its worth the time and the money for this beauty

    I have a 93 Carina E 1.6l and the car still runs like the day it rolled out of factory in Japan. Except front springs front brake discs and windscreen wipers (they got vandalised) everything on the car is still original, including headlamp bulbs. The car is nearing 275000Km and I am pretty confident it can do over 500K. Extremly good build, the most reliable car I have ever driven and even with the age and mileage I can still go over 200km/h.
    Everyone I know who drives a Carina has only positive things to say about the vehicle. Last time I went for oil change I asked the mechanic if he gets a lot of old cars like mine. He said only Carinas are still driving :D and that everyone who had one and sold/crashed it regreted it.

    Dammit, now I miss my 1993 Carina E 1.6, such a good car, never let me down. It was also a very good winter car, started no matter how cold it was, and it was very predictable and stable on slippery roads, even with studless winter tires. My current car, a 2010 Honda Civic 1.4 has ABS, stability control and all that stuff, but it doesn't feel as safe on slippery roads as my old Carina, and that car didn't even have ABS brakes.
    It probably has to do with the suspension, my Carina had independent suspension on all wheels and also had slightly softer springs than my current Honda, which also has a solid rear axle and only the forward wheels have independent suspension. My Honda is excellent on dry roads, sitting very flat in sharp turns and such, but on slippery winter roads it feels a bit "skittish". I'm very pleased with my Honda, but sometimes I regret selling my old Carina. The reason I sold my Carina was because the entire brake system was damaged by rust and it was getting very old and worn out, but I definitely adored that car.

    I bought a 1.8 automatic carina E 4 years ago with 37,000 miles on the clock with only 1 owner from new for £500.. Yes £500 it was like new and it has been the best £500 i've ever spent the car has been completely faultless and is now at 70,000 miles. They just dont build toyota's like that anymore! unreal build quality.

    Buying a Carina was like winning a mini lottery. I borrowed my father's 4AFE wagon for a few months to fix my Nissan (had to pull half the thing apart for the umpteenth time). Decided to do full maintenance since I know the old geezer is a slouch and guess what - the thing was still running an original timing & accessory belts (15+ years old) which were spotless. Stuff like spark plug wires, distributors, igniters etc all original. Not sure if this car gives you peace of mind or makes you totally forget you have commitments to it - but i'm sure Toyota totally broke the game. There's a reason why these still run the same money as cars 10-15 years younger but honestly, the Carina will last 10 more years in a milder climate without fault. Also, the whole car economics thing is engineered in such a way, much like the rat race, that you'll spend pretty much the same money no matter what you drive (unless you make very poor choices), so at least you can exercise your right to drive something you're proud of :)

    My dad had this car few years back and it had only 100k miles when he sold it it was an automatic blue colour and 1993 or 94 model it think it was my favourite car and it was the best car had never given us any problems and they were simple easy for drive. Now days cars are just toys and junk but those car like this cerina e it was a strong build and economical car don't understand why they don't build car like these again if they thinking of reducing position then stop making cars with so much tech in them and make simple drivable cars that have less weight in them from not having all that tech so they burn less fuel too. Just simple and reliable is the way.

  • @nostric4237
    @nostric4237 5 лет назад +1

    Most reliable car, like ever. I've had a 93 and a 94, both with diesel engines and the engines can last literally forever. The best part is that the fuel efficiency, it drinks allmost nothing. When people have to scrap these cars, its usually not because of big MOT failures or engine trouble. Its because of rust.

    • @conorodonnell1826
      @conorodonnell1826 Год назад

      I know what you are saying about the rust on the old Toyota's and that but Toyota had their cars made rustproof by the late 80's due to the awful reputation they had for it in the beginning. The carina E's would have been made rustproof from new. I still have a 28 year old carina E. It's still clean and solid underneath .

    Maybe a 'bland' car in its time, but a perfect example of everything that was good about japanese cars of that age. Perceived as nothing out of the ordinary in its day but today I'd love to take a spin in a good example. By coincidence, just when this video came to an end, Clannad started playing on the radio with "Theme from Harry's game". Very appropriate!
    As a kid I thought the Carina E looked somehow very modern, and tried to talk my dad into visiting the local Toyota showroom. In the end he bought a (then just released) Mazda 626, the 'rounded' 1992 model, which was in its day perceived as looking quite striking. I wish he'd bought the Xedos 6 though...

    My carine 1.6 xli 115hp run smoother than any cars over 2000 years ive ever made. This the best 4 cylinder with normal civilization car. I compare with newer cars and engine carina had over 340.000km now and 27 years and smoother, better. I love this torque car. If You have 3000rpm its 90% of torque this engine. Verry reliability, and flexibity with driven and acceleration. The first time I went to my friend. He couldn't believe how quiet this engine is. It is due to the cast iron block, thanks to which it has a perfect work culture! And above 4,000 rpm, he couldn't believe he only had 115 horses. Short box (relatively) even smaller tires and you can feel these differences. 0-100 according to gps I do in 9.8 seconds but usually comes out 10 10.2. I wish these new toys would keep their power after so many years. 🤣 And one of the few engines of the 90's with "collisionless timing" something beautiful. Sorry for my english. ❤😀

    @stonee206 I totaly disagree...The first generation of Carina E has 1.6 engine with 115hp and it is ONLY 1.065 kg! That means 9.2 kg/hp! (0 - 100 km in 10.7 seconds, Top Speed 195 km/h).If you have any idea of cars (I think that you have), it is easy for you to understand what I'm saying.Except that, Carina E has EXCELLENT QUALITY...Carina E is one of the best cars that ever made in the whole word and the best Toyota's car EVER...

  • @TG1986IRL
    @TG1986IRL 13 лет назад

    @stonee206 i think getting you from A to B all the time with no faults for years and years and doing it on the cheap is a caracteristic on its own, it also doesnt rust as quick as others of its era, how many 93 mondeos do you see on the road? infact how many 98 mondeos do you see on the road? still plenty of 93,94 and 95 carina E's!

    And these are rare too find in uk they are less now back when they were new they cost very cheap just under £12000 with 0 miles which good for quality and practically now you get a small car for £20k which mostly you paying for the tech inside the car more then the whole car.

    Το επίσημο βιβλίο του κατασκευαστή γράφει ότι τα 100km τα πιάνει σε 11.3ασχέτως του αν είναι 4πορτο ή 5πορτο.Πρόσεξε όμως:Όλες μα όλες οι μετρήσεις που έχουν γίνει από περιοδικά αυτοκινήτου (Auto Motor und Sport, 4 Τροχοί,Car and Driver κλπ),κατεβάζουν αρκετά αυτή την επίδοση με μ.ο. στα 10.7.Κάποια αναφέρουν 10.1.Το σίγουρο είναι ότι το 5πορτο είναι πιο βαρύ από το 4πορτο,κάτι το οποίο αν το δεις λογικά,σίγουρα επηρεάζει τις επιδόσεις.Φαντάζομαι ότι η Toyota δεν έκανε τις μετρήσεις στο κόφτη

I don't think so...Carina e was the best car of the category, much better than the German cars.Just look around in the roads of your country...How many German cars of the period '92 - '97 you will see?Only a few...Thousands of Carinas are still in the roads of Europe...

    @alexdriftersupraman Πράγματι τα service στην Toyota είναι πολύ ακριβά.Από εκεί που η Toyota ήταν μια προσιτή εταιρεία,έχει γίνει πολύ ακριβή,ίσως διότι είναι η πρώτη σε πωλήσεις εδώ και πάνω από μια δεκαετία.Πάντως,ούτε και εγώ τηρώ τα service τα τελευταία 10 χρόνια λόγω κόστους,αλλά,όπως σου είπα,αλλάζω λάδια ΠΑΝΤΑ κάθε 5.000km και γενικά το πηγαίνω για έλεγχο κάθε 10.000-15.000 km και τσεκάρω τα βασικά σημεία.Τιμόνι,φρένα,σαζμάν,λάδια,φίλτρα κλπ.και το αμάξι είναι σε εξαιρετική κατάσταση...

    @k0ntrakiasJapan Κάνεις λάθος.Η 1η γενιά Carina e (΄92 έως '94) είχε 115 άλογα.106 άλογα είχε η 2η γενιά ('94 έως αρχές '98).Επίσης,η 4πορτη Carina,1ης γενιάς πάντα,ήταν όντως 1.065 κιλά,όσο και αν σου κάνει εντύπωση.Είμαι 100% βέβαιος και για τα δύο αυτά στοιχεία,διότι,πολύ απλά,είμαι κάτοχος μιας 4πορτης Carina e μοντέλο '92 και τα αναφέρει στο επίσημο βιβλίο τού αυτοκινήτου η ίδια η ΤΟΥΟΤΑ.Ως προς τα πολλά Carina e,για παρατήρησε λίγο καλύτερα...Αλλά και BMW σειράς 3 υπάρχουν επίσης αρκετά...

      Για κανένα λόγο 10-40. 5-30, 15-30, 15-40 και 20-50 δουλεύει αυτό το αμάξι. Όσες φορές οι μηχανικοί που "ξέρουν" μου έβαζαν 10-40 το αμάξι αργούσε να σηκώσει πίεση λαδιού.

    @78989795 11 лет назад

    Δεν υπάρχει καμία απολύτως περίπτωση να φτάσω το αμάξι στα ''κόκκινα''.Δεν έχω κανέναν λόγο να το κάνω.Άλλωστε,ο χρόνος για την επιτάχυνση 0-100 km δεν είναι ποτέ 100% σίγουρος.Εξαρτάται από πάρα πολλές παραμέτρους.Προφανώς,όταν την κάθε ταχύτητα (1η,2α,3η κλπ) την ''φορτώνεις'' μέχρι εκεί που δεν παίρνει,κατεβάζεις τον χρόνο και αντίστοιχα όταν το πας πιο χαλαρά,ο χρόνος αυξάνεται.Προσωπικά δεν με αποασχολεί καθόλου.Πάντως,θεωρώ ότι είναι πιο γρήγορο από τα 11.3'' που λέει ο κατασκευαστής...

    Buying a Xantia instead of a Carina is about the dumbest things to do. I hope you realise that when you buy another piece of cheese like a Xantia. Toyota forever... Literaly

    Χάνει απόδοση στα κόκκινα. :/ Αλλά δεν παθαίνει κάτι ένα toyota.
    Και μην πεις πως αν το κρατήσεις για αρκετή ώρα θα πάθει γιατί και στις 6.000 να το κρατάς αν είναι σταματημένο θα πάθεις ζημιά...Όταν όμως είναι εν κινήσει δεν παθαίνει τίποτα.
    Υ.Γ Οι αναρτήσεις μου είναι χάλια.Τι προτείνεις McPherson ή Kayaba?

    Το ξέρω ότι είναι McPherson φίλε γι αυτό σε ρωτάω...
    Αλλά μου προτείνουν Kayaba γιατί θέλω κάτι λίγο σκληρότερο για να έχει πιο καλό κράτημα...
    Εγώ συνεχώς το κάνω από τότε που αλλάξαμε κινητήρα... Ο πατέρας μου τον έσπασε...Και γενικά το έχει γ...σει το αυτοκίνητο (συγνώμη κιόλας αλλά...)

    Come on...Carina E is much better than all these cars...
    The first Primera,on 1992,for example, had 175/80/13(!!!) wheels...
    626 and Accord are not so popular...
    Carina E 1.6 Gli...
    115ph
    0 - 100: 10.3''
    Hight speed 195 km/h
    And only 1065 kg
