Im on a fischtank bender right now and its so funny watching him react to cody johnson 9 months ago saying country wasnt really his thing and as much as i like new pop country im glad people are breathing some fresh air back into the genre of old story telling country and folk music
Lainey Wilson performed this not long after her dad was in the hospital, he was actually in the crowd so I can almost bet that's who she was focused on for the majority of this performance. Her power and fierceness at the end really shows another side of Lainey. HARDY is going to be a HUGE name in country (and rock) for years to come.
Love your reactions. I met Hardy at a Mexican restaurant in rural West TN several years ago before his name really got big. I had heard of him and he was performing at a local college bar/club. Super friendly, down to earth guy. Took pictures with us and even put us on his guest list to watch the show, for my wife’s birthday. Been a fan ever since then

Hardy at the end was my favorite part when he sang “lord” I was shocked. And the his stage was hands down the best one there. Same with the performance. Even the host right before they came on he said “This is proof that country music is in good hands.” they are awesome

Hardy is bringing back the old style story telling country music like Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, etc..... did it. Lainey Wilson is one of the best female country music vocalists I have heard in a long time with her old soul style of singing.
They did a great job, and it was definitely a highlight. A performance by Chris and Morgan Stapleton with Patty Loveless was also very special, you need to check that out.
That's my favorite song by Patty Loveless and she killed it last night.

Yes they did set the bar! And you’re damn right let’s celebrate this amazing talent - HARDY! And Lainey’s voice! It seemed the CMA was doing the MW snub though. Luke Combs is great but I’d argue Morgan’s tour was bigger and there was a WHOLE lot more excitement around it, both from the fans and the industry. And, although I love Buy Dirt, Sand in My Boots not winning?? Things that make you go hmmm. 🤔

I have to admit I have not really listened to country for awhile. I watched the awards and was like ehh. But then this performance happened and I hadn’t heard of these two. But I am hooked! I absolutely loved it all and I have been playing this song over and over. I’m a fan!
Hardy is probably highly respected. With song writing skills like that everyone probably wants to work with him. Do you know Carrie Underwood's new single has him as a writer? She talked about him so highly. It's on RUclips.

They are my two favorites right now! They are both going to have long careers they’re both so talented! She deserved both awards she got last night! She beat out Carrie underwood for female vocalist and that says something about her. crazy thing is hardy never tried to make his own solo career and only pursued songwriting because he didnt think he had the vocals. but he wrote a song for florida georgia line and they convinced him to start singing his own songs

every once in a while, I hear a song that I want to play over and over. I showed my wife the original video a few weeks ago...and I watch reaction videos, which is how I found your original and this one. I found Lainy about a month ago. All I can say is I am sooooo happy to be done with Bro Country (Florida Georgia line was HORENDOUS) and am very happy to be a bell bottom country fan.

Lainey's voice actually gives me very Dolly Parton vibes just with more push. If she backed off and sang breathy and floaty, the yodel in her voice would sound just like Dolly. But she doesn't she pushes deep and sings very strong and not breathy. To be born with the ability to sing with a yodel in your voice is so unique and will always be a winner.

That pistol brings some power, just like Hardy's music. Agreed!! These two are setting the bar for country music and yes, country music has been pretty weak for a while. Very few artists bring it. Two other newer-ish artists that I can think of that bring it are Eric Church & Ashley McBryde.

Song was #1 iTunes all-genre the day after the awards. Other than this performance and a few others, the show was terrible. I hate award shows, but I watched just to see this and wow! I was amazed at both of the voices there towards the end, but more surprised with HARDY's.
This Wallen phenomenon is unbelievable! You gotta wonder just what most of those 6,000+ Association members were thinking or if many of them even know or listen to country music when one nominee has had FIVE #1 songs this year and doesn't get Male Vocalist or Entertainer. This five-times feat has happened only three times in history: Eddie Arnold 1948; Charlie Rich 1974. Morgan Wallen 2022. I bet the other two got loaded up with recognition back in their years of dominance. Back when we were living in a REAL world.
I heard HARDY tell Tracy Lawrence last week that HARDY's label had figured out a way to release Jack on rock radio even without rock airplay ppl at his label. Something about some of the country airplay ppl used to do rock and still have contacts. Good to hear that you've heard it!
