so odd, these computers obviously came out 30+ years ago which seems absolutely AGESSSS ago! but I can still remember them being new like it was yesterday!!
Wow, nice purchase! Love expansion on A1200, great looking! Also on A500 nice expansion with memory modules! Great to see external drives too, love to have on my Amiga too! So have fun and enjoy!
You don't see the Amiga 500 Plus very often. I owned one in the 90s with two SupraDrives (52MB, 40MB hard drives and fast RAM), 3 external floppy drives, Sony CD player (SCSI) and a lot more.
It was great to have so many to look at and fun to see what state they were in. The 500+ was the worst due to the battery on the board leaking. Going to send that one to CRG for trace repair as that is something he likes doing and is good at. Thanks for watching and for commenting
I was kind of hoping that now I own 6.5 Amigas the chicks would come flocking :-) Wishful thinking on my behalf. Your comment did make me laugh, thanks for watching and for commenting. All the best
That A600 with the rev1 A300 mobo, is an early and rare A600 board. I cant remember the history all that well on this board (i think the machine was going to be called theA300??), but i do remember them being rare as the majority of the motherboards had the A600 naming. That is one worth keeping.
Its been amazing posting this video as I have learnt so much info. The A300 was the original model number when Commodore built the machine as a cost reduced A500 but then for some reason decided to add PCMCIA and IDE so it ended up being an expanded A500 and they renamed it from A300 to A600. Will restore that one faithfully to ensure its preserved. Thanks for commenting and for watching
i wish my friend in Liverpool had taken care to find a home for his A500 when he got kicked out...he took the useful PC parts but left the valuable Amiga and peripherals and lots of worthless old tech...i heard it all went out to the dustbin...i imagine to the Landfill...sad ending to a working retro computer
Yes it certainly worries me. I did clean it many times with IPA after removing the battery. I am sending the 500+ to CRG as he enjoys trace repairs but I may clean it with white vinegar and then IPA it many times to get that off the board as well. Those Varta batteries are demons for leaking and causing so much damage. Thanks for commenting and for watching. All the best
Ummm, Nice I have some too, 8 A2000 & 9 A500 + Peripherals & Monitors & C64 & Vic20 SYSTEMS, But As a Ex-Commodore Dealer, just to clarify, Commodore Sold about 4,850,000 AMIGA'S of All Varieties So finding them accumulating into a Lump or "Twist" of Amiga's is Normal, sorting them, getting them working is the Issue ..
Thank you Jammi for your kind comment. It didn't look like a standard 40 pin IDE cable and I don't get to work with 2.5" drives very often. Its a 44pin IDE cable with the four extra pins being the power element. I did put a comment on screen to say "Power is Supplied Via Ribbon". Anyway, thank you for watching and for commenting. All the best
If all of these restorations are uploaded to youtube, then I will be a happy bunny :D. At some point I will be doing restorations on 10 x A4000's. Tbh 9 as one of them has no lid/top cover so will not be complete :(
I am sending two off to CRG, the 500+ and one of the rare board revision 500's. The rest will be for restorations. All of them need recapping but I just want to get them into a safe condition (so will likely decap them all first) so I can plan them out and think I might do the 1200 or the 600HD first. Ten A4000's! did you get lucky in an auction as well? Maybe the lid-less one would be a good candidate for spares for the nine. Between us we could open an Amiga shop :-)
i have had a George 2 on order for a while. They told me they were due in last week so expecting it to arrive next week. its been a long time coming and i just missed out on the first batch. cant wait for it to arrive and to open it up :-)
This is the first time I have owned any Amigas, normally stick to Spectrum and C64 machines. Will be restoring them when time permits. Am looking forward to seeing whats on the hard drives as well. They all need re-capping first and then can have some fun playing with them. All the best and thanks for watching and enjoy your Amigas
Lovely unbox! Must have been like Christmas morning :D Some gems in there and plenty of projects to keep you busy over the winter months.
Thanks Lee, yes it was like Christmas and fun to see what has hidden inside :-)

Yes me too, although I have more vivid memories of the Acorn Electron and ZX Spectrum than the Amigas. Happy new year and all the best for 2024

@@NLKMediaGroup Great to hear it will be preserved.

The damage could get a bit worse on that A500+. I'd be scrubbing the board even after you remove the battery. That acid doesn't rest!

The adapter is serial to serial, 25pin serial to 9pin or vice versa.
Thank you Jammi for pointing this out, much appreciated. All the best and thanks for watching.
Nice little haul you could easily treble your money if you sold those working at todays prices

The 2.5" IDE connector is standard and always carried power on all systems. Too bad you're not very familiar with computers.

@@NLKMediaGroup wow. I found a guy reviewing the George II radio and he almost put me to sleep in the first minute. I’m waiting for you.
