It is what it is might be the most profound wisdom after all. People struggle with reality on a daily base, with themselves, with their closest friends and relatives. Detachment from the concept of free will can bring an enormous relief - other people become less demonic, oneself becomes less pathetic. All of us who feel robbed of the illusion of free will didnt choose to be, but now we are. We have to play these cards handed to us. It is what it is.
Sam Harris' "Free Will" is a good introduction to Sapolsky's "Determined".

It's free enough insofar as you can't ever exactly determine what caused my will. This makes the whole argument so stale and lame. Sorry, Sam, for yawning.
