As an Argentinian I can undoubtedly say that Drurys commentary on this final achievement by Messi and Argentina is the best of them all. No argentinian narrator got the right word the way he did. The exact emotion and perfect description of what have had just happened. Peter Drury is unequalled as a sportscaster. When I first heard him during the 2014 World Cup championship game between Germany and Argentina I was nearly stunned by his impromptu eloquence. He makes statements on the spur of the moment that no script writer could prepare.

I was fucked during this time in my life. Not a hard core football fan. But I was on this day. Somehow messi and Argentina just became mine and decided my recovery and happiness and my life. Even today when I think about it - it has it’s special feeling. A feeling of affirmation that this world cup seems to have a great contribution to survival of my life within. And so is messi - the god sent guy to us who share his life period.

I am a hardcore Brazil/Barça fan and a Leo Messi worshipper at the same time since childhood. I had seen Brazil lifting the 🚾 in 2002 but always desired to see the golden trophy in the hands of La Pulga since the day he scissored past the Getafe players (Encara Messi). I was hopeful in 2014 but I was shown the backdoor. Had to wait 8 more years to witness that magical moment that I dreamt of often. I thank each of the Argentine team members including the nonplaying stuffs who contributed extremely to make us witness divinity. Muchas gracias! ❤
