I have had my PC drill driver combo for just over 10 years. I have three single cell black batteries and 4 of the red bigger batteries. The batteries still work, and when one needs charging, they recharge. I know there may be more expensive brands, but the Porter Cable tools work great for what I have used them for! A ten acre hobby farm, weekly use in freezing conditions. In 2023, buy one brand of 20 volt tools with multiple batteries and they all work with some performance differences. In my unprofessional professional opinion, Milwaukee Tools offer the widest tool line. Porter Cable in the middle. But I like my PC tools.
Black & Decker batteries work on that Porter Cable if you file down one tab. The B&D, Porter Cable and the old Craftsman Bolt-On stuff all use the same technology and are interchangeable.
I wish I had watched your video before buying Porter Cable drill. My son in law told me this brand is what I should buy, so not knowing any better! I really enjoyed watching your breakdown video. Tky for the knowledgeable info. Maybe the Porter Cable will be ok for what I will be doing with it.
PC and Rockwell used to be the pro tools Rockwell wasn't cheap but lasted forever. Some were think I have my dad's old Rockwell sander all metal need a forklift to pickup and has the notorious green wire on the outside of the cord. Definitely can't use on a job site the fire marshal will toss you and the tool off the job.
I have the 18v PC NiCad set, saw, sawszall, grinder, impacts, hammer drill, lights, air compressor- (which is awesome.) I use a $15 adapter to the newer 20v lithium PC battery and they all run great. Not a pro, just a homeowner.
I have the grey line industrial Porter cable that I bought 50 years ago it is 1/2 inch drill and it is still going strong I've changed the brushes once and rear bearing you could still work on them at that time Milwaukee to same kind of quality back in those days now everything's made in Taiwan or China pretty much junk
Yeah Stanley Black & Decker just signed a deal with tractor supply for Porter-Cable to be there exclusive house brand. hopefully they'll come out with some more higher quality tools and expand the offerings cuz they have to compete with Ryobi and rigid and Cobalt and Craftsman from Lowe's and Home Depot
Bought a Porter Cable chorded impact gun and it burned out after using it 3 times. Only Porter Cable tool I ever bought and the last one..... Tried to warranty it out and they wanted me to pay a service fee more then I paid for the tool + shipping cost. Garbage tool
Porter Cable used to be the brand to buy for professional woodworkers back in the day. Ever since they were bought out by Black and Decker, the quality went to utter shit.

If you grind down a tab on the battery you can use black and decker batteries with porter cable and vice a versa.

I believe the 20v Black and Decker batteries will work by removing one little plastic tab.

I've graduated back to corded. (Too often the batteries "go dead" when needed most.) Great review, Ty.
Can you do a teardown of the 24 volt Kobalt drill?

A real shame how porter cable has been take to the bottom of the heap when my last ones finally go it's to the trash they go.
My buddy had the set of these. Crapped out after a year.

You can get the battery at Tractor Supply
You're right as TSC is the exclusive supplier of PC now. Cheaper and easier to get B&D knockoff batteries on Amazon and file the tab. Works great

Flat earth my friend.
We were listening to you in stereo as i was watching by phone.
Good show buddy.
No way... this dude is a flat earther?
Nice job, Catus!
Need parts from 20 volt porter cable drill.
My favorite quote “if this fell and it broke then these would fall right out” 😀 no kidding
Thanks for this teardown. Subscribed.
Thanks for the sub!
Any chance you would sell me the grars out of the grar box out of the Porter Cable Brushless 20v Max 1/2" Drill. The ring gear and 3 little gears?
Mine is new and the chuck wobbles like crazy 😡😡 called the company they sent a new drill and guess what...the same problem!!
If you have any 18v battery and run those two in parallel the good battery would just jump the battery but no longer then 5 minutes at a time
