Only 8K to replace an EV battery?! Never heard that before.

The oil companies must think I’m really dumb to believe any of the nonsense.

well, google says that just 1.5% of ev's have replaced batteries and I think most of those ev's are simple ev's with small batteries like nissan leaf. There is virtually no battery change for the cars with large batteries. So, where is the nonsense?

This is a complete lie. My local EV shop makes repairs just like ICE vehicles. Shortage of components from unestablished companies can be a problem but this is typical in the startup cycle of a new technology.

Model and make of the vehicles is never given in this slick piece of propaganda. Your documentary portends impartiality without ever giving the viewer relevant details. Who is paying for this?

Tesla battery packs last a really long time and will be recycled when the time comes.

    No worries everything is recyclable.

EV battery replacements are less than 0.1% today, across the industry. Tesla are practically non-existant. If it wasn't the oil industry would make sure we knew through channels like this.

The stats I'm seeing say 1.5% overall and 0.4% for Teslas. Though the Tesla numbers may be skewed by insurers scrapping them for anything beyond purely cosmetic damage.

this video is worthless propaganda. If you like to waste time watch LOL cats instead, better for your sanity.

The problem with EV batteries is that there are no standards. Once your model-proprietary battery pack dies after the warranty, it is nearly impossible to get an affordable known-good replacement. Scrapping whole packs or even whole cars due to a single bad cell is not sustainable.
If EV batteries were broken down into standardized 20-30kg (45-70lbs) modules, you could swap out dead or damaged modules for 1-2k$ a pop.

by the time the battery dies the car is no longer in production and even if the manufacturer would want to provide a battery which in most cases is from another manufacturer they can't do it because the old battery is no longer in production. Also a lot of the newer ev's have "structural" batteries and replacing them means replacing a part of the body of the car which clearly will not hapen. Also the batteries have a lot of complementary devices like the bms, the cooling system and if they would be split in smaller modules that would increase the cost and the weight. Newer tesla batteries are potted in some foam, they cannot be repaired, they are tossed as a single piece.

EV’s (at least Teslas for sure) have significantly lower maintenance costs so of course we’re going to see propaganda claiming EV’s have high repair costs. LOL (I say Teslas simply because that’s what I drive and what I’m familiar with...it’s a late 2019 and hasn’t had any service whatsoever. PS I’m wrong, I forgot it needed a new 12V battery (things like windshield wipers run off a regular car battery) earlier this year. Of course it was free, covered under Tesla’s warrantee...and they even came out to my house and installed it for free.

well, wait until the warranty expires, in about 3 years
