      there was a time (early Arab Muslim invasion) when the Samaritans were not recognized as people of the book. It seems the situation changed during the Mamluk period where the focus of Muslim persecution was against the Christians who were the majority at the time. However the Samaritan community had already been devistates and were scattered to different parts of the land of Israel. Historically speaking their numbers have grown and the smallest the had been was during the late Ottoman period when there were only 100 scattered over a number of cities. It would be interesting to know if Samaritans emigrated and immigrated back and forth. Certainly there were Samaritan communities in Egypt and Syria and other parts of the world.

      Arabs only immigrated I the late Ottoman period and the majority immigrated in the British Mandate. The Arab Muslim invasion of the 7th century never settled he land. And the land was majority Greek Christian from the 4th century until 1300 when the Mamluks persecuted them almost to extermination. But I digress. Arabs were a recent immigration according to Ottoman and British census data. (250K from 1904 to 1914, and another 700k from 1918 to 1947.)

      Aramaic came later as a convergence of Mesopotaian Hebrew and Kana'anite languages.

    • @1czechit1
      @1czechit1 8 месяцев назад

      Aramaic was the lingua Franca of the land since the Babylonian invasion. Canaanite/Phonecian was similar to Hebrew as can be attested to from Ugarit. The Jews in the second temple period began to write in Aramaic (Ashurit) script and Aramaic was the spoken language among the simple people. This continued through the Christian majority period and only changed with the Mamluks who "Arabized" the land in the 13th century. Their persecution specifically of the Greek and Latin Christians turned the land to a majority Muslim but also devastated the population from 500K post Arab Muslim invasion to a mere 123,000 according to the early Ottoman census. @@abrahamWeizfeldPhD

      @@yurichtube1162 Judea was a small @×× kingdom that was between Gaza, and the Dead Sea, that only lasted for 1,030 years, which is a shorter period of time compared to the Islamic Arab rule in the Levant. There had been several documents in Ancient history mentioning Palestine, such as the land of Peleset, mentioned by Ancient Egypt before the little kingdom of Judea came into existence. Judea was founded by ethnic cleansing of the Jebusites, and Canaanites. Bethlehem was a Canaanite city which means house of lehem(dedication to the canaanite fertility god, Lehem), and Jerusalem is the city of the Jebusites which the Children's of Judah invaded. Many of the Canaanites fled north, and south, and many of the Syrians, and Lebanese carry traces of Canaanite DNA that is native to Bethlehem. Palestinians are related to the Canaanites. Palestinians score 51% Levantine DNA in their 23andme DNA results, while Hebrews score none. The forefather of the Hebrews, Abraham, came from the land of Ur(From Sumeria, in Southern Iraq, not in the Levant). Judea was a small Kingdom between Gaza, and the Dead Sea that only lasted for 1,030 years. If anyone intelligent here entertains thoughts to get into a serious exchange with the uploader, I recommend they avoid it because it would be time wasted on trying to educate an idiot -- more precisely a useful idiot, who believes that the fact the Samaritan script is older than the Hebrew script used in the past 1900 years means it existed 3600 years ago. All the reputable specialists on Hebrew script agree -- even the chief Samaritan scholar Binyamim Sedaqa is part of this consensus (I have seen him say this) -- that the Samaritan script wasn't created before the late 2nd century BCE, and that the Paleo/ancient Hebrew script precedes the Samaritan script by more than a thousand years.
