Hey there. Your videos are fantastic. Your sense of humor is killer and the information is, for the Cirklon community, hugely helpful and much appreciated. Thank you and happy new year!
I just have to leave a compliment on all the classy background music going on throughout. Quite considerate to also change it when you think it's annoying! Most demo videos on youtube border on unwatchable in this very regard.
@@splitradix Mate, I got a P3 since the first time in kit. Could you give me paid lessons? I quitted from making music 16 years ago and just came back. I am lost. Thanks!
Very nice video again, something that I didn’t see mentioned in step record mode, but is quite helpful: press shift+REC to enter the step rec mode, press menu to exit the menu (while still being in step record) and you can now press an encoder (and keep it pressed down) and play a note on the keyboard to enter the note for that selected step, very convenient way of entering notes.
Thanks for doing these, had a Cirklon for a few years and learning lots of cool new stuff in your videos so much appreciated. Cheers, I owe you a pint ;)
Glad you like them! We met a few times back in the day I am sure. I used to pop over to London for the Scand nights etc. Old friend of Simon Dexorcist.
Thanks for making these videos, I don't think I ever watched such long videos on RUclips (distracted much?) Anyway this is very helpful and entertaining too.
Amazing man!Amazing!Just arrived into the Cirklon’s world and found your channel! Many thanks for that ! So so so useful and motivating me to learn deeply that « beast »! Struggling to plug my Vitus Ti and set up so if you have an idea where I can find some infos about those topics …would be really nice! Anyway …subscribed! Awesome…you make my day !
really appreciate your work! cant wait for the Aux Events .. wondering if you could imitate a Krell Patch (Modular) from Forbidden Planet! basically random pitch, random length and random speed of notes!
Quick question I don't have my cicrklon just yet ( soon verry soon ) but I can't seem to find the solution in the manual Currently , a pattern has a global pattern speed which can be set globally for the pattern , 16th means it will advance to the next step each 16th . Every step can have it's own duration , Example : first step is a quarter note , second is an 8th note and third is 16 but the sequencer will still advance to the next step every 16 th note ( global pattern speed ) Is there a way/possibily that the sequencer advances to the next step BASED on the step's gate time ? So it would hold the first step for a quarter note , then advances to the next ( holds this current step for a 8th ) , then advances to the next ( hold this for a 16th) .
You can use the "set norm tbase" and "set trplt tbase" on each step to change the timebase of the pattern. The gate length itself won't change how long it takes to advance to the next step. The different settings are 1, 2, 4, 8, 16 (default), 32, 64 for norm tbase and 2T, 4T, 8T, 16T, 32T, 64T for trplt tbase.
@@splitradix Hm colin gave me a different answer on the sequentix forum . The way he explained it it was possible to have a step hold for a quarter note ( and hold it ) , then advances to the next step ( hold for that particular length etc ) All in one pattern
@@WARDISWARD I saw his post on the forum, it's actually the same answer as mine, using the tbase aux. The steps aren't "held" really, the steps just play at diferent speeds depending on the tbase value.
@@splitradix O.k so this got me really confused Let's say your pattern is set to /16 th note speed , for regular 16 th step NOw , the first step aux t-base is set to 1/4 , and the next step t-base is set to 1/8 ( remember our pattern is set to 16th speed ) With this approach our first step is triggered at 1/4 ( which is equal to 4*16th notes ) , the next at 1/8 , how can it then not hold the note ??
@@WARDISWARD The tbase controls the pattern speed. At your first step the pattern is playing at 1/4th speed, not 16th speed, on the second step the pattern is changed to 1/8th, and so on. The step will play for longer at a slower speed, but technically the step isn't being held by the aux event, it's just playing relative to the pattern timebase.
Yes I send notes to my TR909 via midi and it works. Make sure 909 is set to the right midi channel and that you're sending it the right note values for each drum sound.
Hello. The Tie Function is only possible for Midi and CVIO Signals that use Gates, right? So with an Modular Synth like the LIP it is not possible because it has no Gate Just Trig. Thank you.
The tie holds down the gate. Technically a trigger is just a very short gate. I don't own the LIP so I would need to try sending it some crazy gate signals before I can faithfully say it won't respond to ties.
still trying to find time to dive into this fully, but looking forward to doing so. does the cirklon have trig conditions similar to elektron sequencers?
Is Cirklon any good for non-computer sounding music? something a bit more experimental/naturalistic or looser in feel? I'm not saying it's not, just all demos I've heard so far are very quantized and "computery"
a surprisingly hard question to answer. Scott Walker's Bisch Bosch? The World is Saved by Stina which is still clearly sequenced but doesn't sound so tight. A lot of examples i can think of are not made on machines, I guess@@splitradix
Yes there is. Colin added a new feature to mute rows about nine months after I made this video: "1.20d - 7/9/21 added note row mutes to CK pattern - hold SOLO/SKIP and press ROW to toggle row mute status, SHIFT + SOLO/SKIP to clear all mutes"
@@splitradix hey man, its me again ^^ "but" its only a faster way to get it to minimum or no Volume - wouldnt it be cool to select the displayed notes on ck pattern (always 8 in screen during scrolling etc,) in the middle 8 step buttons? so we could mute all those 8 displayed notes by pressing the buttons "for example 3 notes simultaneously. basically, mute more than one drum/note at the exact same time. Did Colin make the request of Apply FTS for Ck track happen?
