In this song there is a line.. "grandson:where are my glasses? ancestor:take them my grandson" means ancestors saw and wanted this world, nature, animals to be existing simultaneously. Centuries ago they planted seeds of many type plants, animals excretion made those seeds grow, rivers and streams gave water to plants, air and rain also made the plants grow to a canopy or a forest. Ancestors nurtured and protected these forests, agriculture, vegetation very much by keeping in mind that their toil and love for nature will preserve this world for future generations to come. But today's generation doesn't see it as they saw. Today's generation destroys jungles, vegetation, rivers, air etc. They decreases the area of agriculture and forest and builds concrete jungles which make the nature and animals extinct. Thus they make life on earth non livable. They construct dangerous industries that pollut air and water. They are struggling to live a happy, harmonious, healthy life together. They don't know love, cooperation, planting seeds, growing them, the need to preserve nature and animals. So ancestors are very much worried and anxious about future. So ancestors are trying to tell grandchildren see this dangerous situation and urgency to recover from it through the eyes of them. Then grandchildren are asking how to realise that situation and how to recover from it. Then ancestors telling them to use their wisdom and love of nature.

Sorry. Your information is not fully correct. Dhee’s (Dheekshitha) mom is indeed a Srilankan Tamil just like Dhee’s biological dad. Dhee was born to Srilankan Tamil parents who settled in Australia. She was born and grew up in Australia. She is more of a Australian born Srilankan Tamil. Her mom later remarried an Indian tamil music director, Sathosh Narayanan and relocated to India. Dhee continued to stay back with her brother and her biological dad in Australia until recently she started staying more with her mom to work on her musical career in Tamil film industry. Having said that it doesn’t take away her Srilankan Tamil roots/identify. Her unique style, personality and her love for Tamil clearly comes from Australian Srilankan Tamil environment/household she grew up. Dhee’s maternal grandparents still live in Jaffna, Srilanka. It’s an irony that this song itself is about our “roots” and people are trying to hide or redirect Dhee’s roots just for their own happiness.
@@madhurz557 Sorry. Not really. Srilankan Tamils(aka Eelam Tamils) either living in Srilanka or settled in other parts of the world have different history, slang and their own unique life style compared to Indian Tamils. enjaami = en + saami. "en" -> mine and "saami" -> God. The literal meaning of enjaami - "My God". The contextual meaning here -> Grandparents affectionately call their grandchildren "enjaami" which reflects how much they love them(equal to a god). Elders also use this term when trying to console/comfort children as an expression of how much they love them. That different voice that Arivu is singing with in-between is supposed to mimic grandmother's(elders) voice. The lines that were sung using this different voice are meaningful colloquial sayings by rural elders that were passed down from older generations. Another aspect is the way he is singing these lines is using "Oppari" - a traditional form of music that is still used in funerals for lamenting. The music instruments used were traditional Tamil music instruments(all the drums) and the drum elements are of Tamil traditional music not of African tribal music as everybody is assuming. Also the video backdrop with tribal people is supposed to highlight how old the Tamil civilization is. Tamil is one of the oldest classical languages in the world and possibly the oldest civilization with thousands of years of history. Everyone makes tribe elements connections to Africa which is mistaken.
What you discussed is the back story of Mr. Arivu. But the essence of the song is to preserve Nature as Nature belongs to everyone, including animals and birds in this world, and Humans are monopolizing Nature. We should embrace all living beings on earth. Thanks for reacting to this, Ankit & Dhanya!
Some 200-250 years back... When East India Company ( British company that ruled India ) .. came to India... They captured Srilanka island... Then it was full of Forrest ( virgin Forrest )... They wanted to build society there ... They took poor Tamil people ( the region am from, tamil is my mother tongue) ... They took people from India to Lanka to kill Forrest, build house and tea plantation for revenue .... Once the society was build and population grew there (like after two generation) ... Tamil ppl were asked to go back to India as the population was increasing Island. Now these people didn't know anything else apart from working in tea plantations. Some worked in hill stations in Tamil land... But many lost their livelihood, started doing random jobs like unskilled labour work... The writer's grandma was one such person who was migrated. The song takes inspiration from that.... But main Idea here is the nature belongs to everyone... Not just for humans.... And in a line they say how bird's excretion ( which is good fertilizer ) helped growing Forrest ... Which is today your nation... Your house... Amazing... Tamil is tamil so soothing bnd powerful ...
Thanks to Vijay Kumar explaining this songs in detail, "This song with the exact meaning which is missing from the English subtitles. Some people have still misunderstood the song with the wrong assumption. Let me explain... “Parai” & “Murasu” (Musical instrument) is played in the beginning of the song. “Parai” & “Murasu” is purely belongs to Tamil tribes (everyone thinks it's an African music played in the beginning) but it's not, followed by they showed “Salangai” wears in both the legs & hands which is followed by the Tamil tribes to express their feelings by the way of dance. This is mostly during auspicious moment, festival, wartime etc.,. Hope you have seen Salangai” wore in “Bharatnatyam” which is a major form of Indian classical dance that originated in Tamil Nadu. Bharatanatyam is also one of the oldest classical dance traditions in India which is often are used to express Hindu religious stories and devotions. So all this shown in the beginning of the song to make positive vibes. And then the soil is shaking. That means, the land is shaking/hearing/feeling/enjoying to the music. And the girl opens her hand from hiding and coming out to say what is emerging right now... rest is the song... Grandpa is called as “Thatha” in Tamil She is also singing “Cuckoo Cuckoo” hope everyone know it's a bird. But which bird? The answer is given in the next line. “Annakili Annakili” which is a name that has Tamil origin for girl/women and also it's name of the bird as well which is seen widely in Tamil Nadu 50 years back and now no more because of the expansion of development like Cellphone tower, the loss of forests, plains and other natural systems into agriculture, mines, and urban developments, the draining of swamps and other wetlands, and logging reduce potential habitat for many species Let's move on further, somehow now you got the context of the song but still the subtitles are not the exact meaning represented in English which caused not understanding the deep message. So the song start with saying Grandpa weeding out the fields and he finds a kingfisher bird in the trunk hole. The frog is swimming in the water. And here lyrics says the caterpillar is sister. How come? It is Because frog eats all kinds of worms except caterpillar since it has a toxic body condition. So caterpillar can go and stay near the frog without fear. This is the concept of these lyrics... Further, the rapper is singing that my grandma’s has shrink bag (wallet) with betel (Paan) and nuts (Supari) which we have seen already in our life. And then he is telling his own lifestory about his grandma which you can refer the subtitles. Now the girls is saying that our ancestors left this soil with all these blessings. Our forefathers lived across the river banks and did fertile fields. So at that time, every birds and animals felt safe and happy. Our ancestors also fertile the fields across the river and live happily. She also say that the lakes and ponds belong to everyone, not only for humans that includes birds and animals. During middle of the song, especially, when the male singing part comes, it is consider as the Mother Nature is singing or saying that “I planted fives trees, Nurtured a beautiful garden, My garden is flourishing, Yet my throat remains dry” that means the Mother Nature gave us 5 element. They are Earth, Space, Water, Air and Land, then why are you still struggling to survive in this world? Because we have failed to save and look after nature. That's why people suffer from not being able to live with nature everywhere in the world. Everyone thinks that this guy is enjoying and dancing 🤦🏻♂️that's not the actual meaning of the video. To conclude the song... the Mother Nature is also asking (when male singing part) ... This is a serious statement “What the matter my dear? my sugarcane? my grandson? and then it says “Bitter Gourd in my canopy, it has given us seeds, Left by our mom and dad... (By the time they shows the old man smiling and feeling happy) Everyone thinks that they are Farmers or Someone came without meaning... actually they are all our ancestor, they left the seeds through our mom & dad... so what is meant by “Seeds” (it's a hidden message) the exact meaning of “Seeds” represent the “Current modern lifestyle” who failed to save the mother nature. In result, Air pollution, Water pollution, poor management of waste, global warming, growing water scarcity, preservation and quality of forests, biodiversity loss, and land/soil degradation etc we face today. Mother Nature is crying and lamenting to express the own grief and also want to share and assuage. Because of this strong message, this album got very popular all over the world. At the end of the song, they show the group of people which is a root of how humans diversified from our ancestors to till date. Thank you once again for your valuable time to read this lengthy message to get understand this song"
This music is desi af, (drums, beats, there are some tribal element in this song *not African) It talks about nature, land, Mother Earth, casteism and landless farmers who have worked hard, their struggles. Let’s all come together and Rejoice life Live to the fullest.
This song carries a heavy message saying that this soil is not only for humans.. but also equally shared by birds, animals and insects too.. We have the responsibility to preserve it for the next generation as our ancestors gave us to live.. This is a condemnation alarming message conveyed in a different way.. A ton of thanks to the creators.
Its for the whole world, vr losing our treasure our land, water, agriculture the pain of farmers.. Atleast with this new fusion all shud understand what are v, what v are losing in our life for the future
Down South we experiment a lot with music..it's a different level altogether...you guys just wouldn't understand...in one word, we're not Bollywood! ;-)
Rightly said by sister "beyond the imagination" wonderful reaction for this wonderful and meaningful song about the mother nature, rain forest, elderly people and farmers who save guarded our land for years and years togther. This song was choreographed so great that many do not realize that, it took just two days to shoot this song. Amith Krishnan is the director of the Video. The green rain forest setting is indoor studio in Chennai, the outdoor scenes are shot in AR Rahman farmhouse located outskirts of Chennai.
In this video ... women's reactions nice expression that means this music slowly went to her heart..eyes glowing .. thanks for this video madem...thannya vaar...acha baguth acha..both of you
Great reaction guys😍...♥️...n the song itself talking about how our ancestors protect and handled the natural resource, equality between the animals with humans...also the necessity of continuity of following wht our ancestors does...♥️🔥🔥
“Odiya Odiya “ in the beginning of the song is a slang for odi (run) vaa (come) come running/fast, which we Tamils say when we have something important/interesting to say to others (come fast I’ve something to say to you). Elephants play an important role in preserving the forest and nature, which plays a role in bringing about rain. That’s why Tamil ancestors made us worship the elephants to protect them from poaching. “Mum (3) maari (rain) in Tamil has been mentioned in ancient Tamil literature so many times. The Tamil kings always made sure that their lands received “maadham (monthly) mummaari” 3 times rain) to keep the land fertile. This song speaks about “ ambaari “ in Tamil , a seat fastened to the back of elephants where we can sit and ride, rhyming with mummaari thus connecting the elephants with rain. The messages in this song is for people all over the world. It’s the oldest language in the world, Tamil. Tamil has the root words for many languages around the world like Greek, Turkish, Korean and even Latin according to etymology researchers. This song is about the Tamil’s way of life. How our ancestors preserved this earth for thousands of years but how this generation is destroying all natural resources in the name of development and our offsprings will be left with nothing if this continues. The Tamils always say that all the resources in the earth are for all living things and not only for us humans. Enjoy is English, enjaami is a slang for en (my) saami (lord or god) (we just call our children and grandchildren dearly as “my god”) vaango vaango means come come, onnagi in Tamil means “together as one”. Basically the song says to the younger generation to come together and preserve nature and enjoy together. The thirukkural (sacred verses) written in tamil thousands of years ago by Tamil philosopher Thiruvalluvar also talks about this! This has been translated in many languages around the world. It says “paguthundu (sharing the food that we have with other living beings that are in need) palluyir (many/all living things) ombuthal (protecting all living things). The sound they make at the beginning and end of the video is called “kulavai” in Tamil. Ladies make this sound at the beginning of all festivals and celebrations. Proud to be a Tamil

This music is desi af, (drums, beats, there are some tribal element in this song *not African)
It talks about nature, land, Mother Earth, casteism and landless farmers who have worked hard, their struggles.
Let’s all come together and Rejoice life
Live to the fullest.
This song carries a heavy message saying that this soil is not only for humans.. but also equally shared by birds, animals and insects too..
We have the responsibility to preserve it for the next generation as our ancestors gave us to live..
This is a condemnation alarming message conveyed in a different way..

Rightly said by sister "beyond the imagination" wonderful reaction for this wonderful and meaningful song about the mother nature, rain forest, elderly people and farmers who save guarded our land for years and years togther. Me as a Tamizhan from Tamilnadu from farmers background, I was literally in tears while watching and listening to this song for the first time... thank you both of you for reacting to it, take care, stay safe and be blessed.
This song was choreographed so great that many do not realize that, it took just two days to shoot this song. Amith Krishnan is the director of the Video. The green rain forest setting is indoor studio in Chennai, the outdoor scenes are shot in AR Rahman farmhouse located outskirts of Chennai.
Wow..thanks for sharing that 👍🏻
Arivu the rap sensation
There is an important message about our planet and environment which people need to take home.
True
The beat is typical of Tamil Nadu oppari (funeral songs) and pari drums: it's to evoke a poignant feeling in the listener tbh

Srilankans are our tamilians till now we are supporting tamilians in srilanka speaking the old slang of tamil till now.
