UPDATE: Now it's back! To those asking about why this album isn't on streaming: propably a 10 year license deal with the UMG / Interscope ended in 2022 and now the rights have been reverved to VH. Hopefully Warner Bros. will re-release it soon!
The same thing should happen to the two Fear Factory albums that don’t have Dino cazares on it because the record label that published them went bankrupt
I was in a bad place and had just moved to LA to get away. In a gym there, 2012, and I hear this guitar and then this voice on the late night gym TV jukebox.. And the world was good again, even for 5 minutes
They had a lot of unpublished songs that they mined all along through their career - and nobody complained before. Not one of their strongest songs, but surely worthy of airplay. The thing is, whites performing Rock is passe. We all know all good music these days in world music or Satanic these days. While white guys can perform, it MUST NOT sound white, or they can't play it on TV!!!
I met David in 1983 .he was with some woman walking .this song was fantastic.they were an amazing band and Eddie was one of the best guitarists 🎸 rip Eddie 🙏 🕊 I've got a tattoo of van Halen on my arm a few months before he passed away.
Say what you want about Dave as a colleague or a singer in a live context (of which there's plenty, make no mistake); he's still the master of studio vocals when he's got a good group of bandmates that challenge him to focus and step up his game. This is right up there with all the original hits he made with Van Halen thirty years beforehand.
Yeah back when Dave could sing and Michael Anthony was in the band. If this song got recorded and released as is, in 1985, it would have ended their careers.
@@secef316 You are right. Nepotism is an ugly disease. Mike should have still been in the band. Wolfgang needs to create his own music instead of living off of his dad's creative genius. It was really disrespectful to Mike to be thrown under the bus like he was by Eddie.
@@LS-ki9ft Have you not heard Wolfgangs albums with his band Mammoth? He's an incredible talent and RARELY does his dad's songs. He has amazing songwriting skills and a great voice....and every bit as talented as his dad.
I was so excited when this song came out! Heard it for the first time with my dad, who initially introduced me to Van Halen. Purchased, "A Different Kind Of Truth" the day it came out. Miss ya Dad, and miss ya, Edward!
I gotta say, I was so freakin happy when this came out. Missed Mike but Wolfie proved how much of a musical prodigy tgst he is in his own right. His mammoth album is an absolute banger. A more clever song then given cred for.
VH was the soundtrack to my teenage partying years in SoCal. Saw them three times including USFestival in 1983 pre-VanHagar...They're from here, so the sound is ingrained in our souls and lives..When this song came out it brought back so many memories, and those closing keyboard type riffs at the end just COMPLETE ME...RIP EVH!
I didn't like it at first but the more I blast it, the more I like it. Gonna miss Van Halen on tour. Saw em with Hagar and Roth. Hagar was better I think. RIP Eddie, RIP
Yeah when it first came out i did t like. But relistened to all the vh albums last week (missing Eddie). And this song stood the test of time. Great tune- dlr vocals a little weak but the pre chorus is catchy and now I love this song.
I found this song about a month before Ed passed. I was watching everything I could find with Ed. Then one morning i woke up and saw the news. Sucks! At least we got one more Van Halen album. Its WAY better than Van Halen 3 or Diver Down. It has the sound and best of all, Dave sounds good again.
The only changes I'd make to the song is opening with the swelling guitar Ed does at the end, and taking away the "tat-too, tat-too" in the ending. Other than that, it's a great song. Classic Dave lyrics and a great groove. The bridge is fantastic too.
I remember I was 10 years old and I still remember the night when This was first premiered on Planet Rock radio for the first time and I fell in love with it, Loved the album too, this song holds brilliant memories of Junior School for me!
Wow as Generations pass, My first concert ever was in 6th grade and it was Van Halen's Debut album Van Halen. Hell of a band to be your first show at that age. Every time I hear Eruption I go back to 6th grade in memory's. Peace young man thanks for your memory!
You can put me in a dark room and spin me around, put a rag in my mouth, duct tape my nose, zip tie my ankles, hang me upside down and I can still tell you who's playing guitar within 3 seconds!!! His legacy will live on forever, no one can and will ever compare to that sound, oh that sound, thank you Mr. Eddie Van Halen for the music you have given all of us over the years.
These fun vibes that they brought to the stage..... Like no other particularly with Dave of course. we're so original and genuine will stay always as their finger print
The fact they got Dave back for one last album was a miracle. An album like Van Halen III would have killed the career of almost any other band, but Van Halen managed to recover.
This song rocks solid. Vocals and instrumentals brilliant. If I'm not mistaken, at 2:20, Dave's dog is on stage. I seen a video awhile back with Dave training his herding dog. The man does everything. Van Halen is the best band ever.
@BigBass13 13 thank you, been coming up on 20 years, just now starting to have problems in my head, there's no book out there to tell you what to do after you beat it. Thanks
Probably the 10 year licensing deal with the UMG/Interscope ended and now the rights reverved to VH. Hopefully Warner Bros. will re-release it like the rest of VH catalogue. Same deal with the videos.
I always liked this song when it came out, still do. Eddie and Al are awesome as usual, Dave pretty good in his return and Pugsley Adams standing in for Michael Anthony was solid. Rest in Peace, Legend!
Love this album. Wish it was streaming. Heard Diamond Dave doesn't like this album and has final say to put it back on music streaming services, read info from Wolfie.
Take that with a grain of salt. Wolf also said that Dave was the sole reason a tribute concert to Ed never happened, then we heard from Hagar that Alex didn’t want to do it either.
Some of the band members probably visited Chinatown to discuss the stories left by a Chinese classical philosopher about tattoos they'd heard, and they felt happy and humorous
To always remember what done on that they Eddie is the man he plays music I’m not like no other. I miss the man like crazy and I believe him that he is one kick us man you Eddie Van Halen rock on baby and always say yourself I am a medium, who talks to himself, believes in himself, and sees himself as a person who is, loving kindness forever I am a medium watch watching angels❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
The 10 year license deal with UMG ended in 2022 and now the rights have reverved to VH. Wolfgang blames that Dave doesn't like the album so that's why it's not back yet but it could also financial reason meaning that they are waiting a better deal. Hopefully they will re-release it sooner than later.
Uncle Danny had a coal tattoo. He fought for the unions, some of us still do. On my shoulder is the number of the chapter he was in. That number is forever like the struggle here to win!

I think David Lee Roth, Michael Anthony, Alex Van Halen and Wolfgang Van Halen (playing guitar) need to release Van Halen IV.
@@domr3753 Alex retired
Seeing Roth and Ed together gives me chills. Two absolute icons.
I was in a bad place and had just moved to LA to get away. In a gym there, 2012, and I hear this guitar and then this voice on the late night gym TV jukebox.. And the world was good again, even for 5 minutes
@Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin VLADDY
THE GADFLY GANG Keep it rock!!
@thegadflygang5381 You wanted to get away from a bad place so you moved to LA of all places ?
You've got this friend. Even if its a year later and you're still doing the work.... KEEP.PUSHING.IT TAKES TIME YOU'VE GOT THIS
I can't believe this song (Tattoo) hasn't received more airplay, great song from one of the best bands ever.
They wrote the original version in 1977 and never included it on their many mega selling albums until the retro one in 2012, so that's revealing.
I thought the same thing.I love it
They had a lot of unpublished songs that they mined all along through their career - and nobody complained before. Not one of their strongest songs, but surely worthy of airplay. It hasn't because it sucks. The lamest chorus ever.
Some of the music was written during their club days..Down in flames
I was blessed to see them during the Diver Down tour. Maybe the best concert I have ever seen.
For some reason this song puts a tear in my eye. RIP Eddie.
Same. I choke up every time.
Kinda feel same way
Lyrics are fucking moving 😢

I was so happy when this album was released just in time for my birthday in 2012 . If this was released in 85 it would have been a massive hit .

look at eddie's happy face. i miss it.
❤Happy Birthday Wolfgang, VH FOREVER,WE THINK ABOUT YOU AND ALL THE FAMILY❤
Great song! This was Van Halen showin they could get back with Dave and STILL could write just as good of songs as back in their day!!
That’s because these songs are old demos that never made the albums when Dave was originally in the band.
Cool song! 🎶 they still sounded good to me in 2012!!
Swap meet Sally! Tramp stamp cat! Mouse wife to Mom shell in the time it took to get that new tattoo!!!
End of an Era...
RIP!
The best of the bests! Mr. EVH, are you forever!
❤
This album could've been the follow up to 5150... dig it to this day
sadly, DLR's signature whistle scream was long gone by 2012. He's never been the same since 2003
Yes, but he’s good enough for EVH to want him back in the band….. yes.
I didn't like it at first but the more I blast it, the more I like it. Gonna miss Van Halen on tour. Saw em with Hagar and Roth. Hagar was better I think. RIP Eddie, RIP
Change My Mind: This the best song by rockers in the post prime ever
Imagine if this song was released in the early 80's

You got it
Don’t understand hate on this song! I love it!
I think mainly because Michael Anthony’s high pitched vocals aren’t here. That’s my only gripe with this song, but great song.
I'm with you.
I love it, very catchy

That was Sammy. Everyone loves this song
I like it 2 I love seeing Dave with guys as soon as I hear his voice with their music it's Van Halen period.

Also got the moves
When did Diamond Dave turn into Steve Martin

One of the best songs from VH or anyone for that matter!

R.i.P. Eddie we will miss you but not forgotten we as as parents need to show rerock😢😢🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
BRILLIANCE AT IT FINEST! RIP EVH!
Eterno Eddie Van Halen💔
I think David Lee Roth, Michael Anthony, Alex Van Halen and Wolfgang Van Halen (playing guitar) need to release Van Halen IV.
Frickin awesome song. Super underrated
ABSOLUTELY!
Damn. Watching this jacked me up just as hard as it did in 2012.
jacked me up as hard as it did since Women and Children First album.
I heard this for the first time in 2015. But I didn't think it was actually diamond Dave. A ten year search for this song
I loved it when Dave rejoined the band - even if it was for just one album!
Two albums, Tokyo Dome 2015 live with David Lee Roth is also a great album.
I'm glad Eddie found peace though
Makes me wise magic sound like runnin with the devil.
Uno de mis solos de guitarra favoritos sin duda!!
great song,

Riposa in pace eddie💓
Great song love ya work.
I LOVE this Video, seeing the 3 Van Halen men and DLR. Wow ❤😂🎉 RIP Edward, and keep the legacy going Wolfgang ❤
This song just pleases the soul on so many levels EVH 🤘🏼❤️
The fact they got Dave back for one last album was a miracle. An album like Van Halen III would have killed the career of almost any other band, but Van Halen managed to recover.
"Van Halen III" is a MASTERPIECE FOREVER !!! Clean your ears
Love this song
I'm stoked they borrowed their uncles' 8mm CamCorder to make this video
This song rocks solid. Vocals and instrumentals brilliant. If I'm not mistaken, at 2:20, Dave's dog is on stage. I seen a video awhile back with Dave training his herding dog. The man does everything. Van Halen is the best band ever.
It’s a good one,folks.
I remember the first time I heard this song, I shouted Van halen is back ❤
Watching this in 2024 and Wolfie looks like such a baby face...LOL
He was just 20 here
When you have the best of every band position, who gets the camera spotlight?
amazing track 🔥

. This song sounds classic Van Halen. Back to their roots.
Awesome R.I.P Eddie ❤🎉😢😊
The only thing good about this video is the fact that Eddie ,Alex and Dave made up before Eddie passed!
Van Halen forever
Being a cancer survivor, I'm still not over his passing,
None of us will be. EVHs passing hit hard.
Btw, keep up the great work, survivor👍🏻
@BigBass13 13 thank you, been coming up on 20 years, just now starting to have problems in my head, there's no book out there to tell you what to do after you beat it. Thanks
They ripped it! Love it!!
You can tell Eddie loved singing with Dave.
El gran himno de los tatuajes qué gran homenaje a este bello arte 🤘🤘💀💀🔥🔥🖤🖤💿💿🎵🎵

why official music video from official channel got removed? and why do they remove one album that has this song in spotify?
Probably the 10 year licensing deal with the UMG/Interscope ended and now the rights reverved to VH. Hopefully Warner Bros. will re-release it like the rest of VH catalogue. Same deal with the videos.
Yeah Spotify lift your game we need this album
les go

this can't compare to the original (down in flames) but it's better than nothing, at least we got somewhat of a studio recording of this beat
,,,,,.... TOGETHER ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, FOREVER ...............❤..
Watched an old shirtless concert video before this and it makes this one seem like the dads of the other Van Halen.

Killer. EVH was a god.
Dave's voice is VH. Sammy was ok but nothing like the original
Imprint!!! ... !!! ... !!!
if this came out in 83 it would be considered a classic VH track
What's going on at 1:25? It looks like if the video is playing backwards, check out Alex's drum sticks.
Yeah they made some parts of the video backwards.
Why did the album get removed from Spotify and Apple music😢?

Catchy tune. Too bad radio didn't play it.

Ohhhhhh Yahhh...
This was really good
I had this in my playlist only to find out it got removed from Apple Music in Canada WTF….
DLR to the Max
Older DLR is starting to look like a bedazzled Charlton Heston.
This is the true band, there is no better voice to Van Halen band...David Lee Roth is the perfect voice to this band!
