Machining a lowboy trailer pin with Vanover Machine and getting interrupted by Josh Topper!

- I took a road trip this past week and stopped by to see Kyle at @VanoverMachineAndRepair. Kyle was gracious enough to let me hang out in his shop for a bit over a couple of days and I also got to meet some other local machinists and machine rebuilders. Had a little fun and recorded him trying to get a rush job out the door - in between all the phone calls! 😂

That day was a fun surprise. I had forgotten what day it even was, yet alone that kyle was having his shop day. It was fun chatting with you both.
Same here. It was such a great trip. Hope to chat with you again some time.
Nice to see RUclipsrs getting together. And even a third one on the phone.
One of these days, I want to get to Europe.
Was good meeting you guys at Arnfest!
Yes! I am sure we will cross paths again, hopefully many times.
I walked in right as you guys were leaving that day. It was fun getting to hang out at Arnfest and walk around in the machine shops at the railroad museum.
That place is pretty awesome. I was there a couple years ago and things are already different.
What a great community to be part of (meaning you guys knowing each other), without social media, we wld be checkin the yella pages! Thanks for sharing all this wonderful content.
Agreed. The best benefit of starting a YooToob channel is making so many new friends and acquaintances.
Not just the friendahips, but the wealth of shared knowledge. It has brought me many people to bounce ideas off of.
@@TopperMachineLLC Absolutely, 100%! It's the one aspect of "social media" that doesn't suck the life out of you. 😂
@MyLilMule you got that right. I can post stuff on the other platforms and get a ton of stupid and degrading comments. I post here and mostly positive and sometimes helpfull comments. You still get the moron, but they are easily blocked. Lol
Like a 70s super group
😂
Great video, ironic that I just recently found Vanover Machine. I've followed Josh for years. I started out on a SB 10L and its a wonderful machine to learn on. They are easy to use and very forgiving. Then I purchased a Monarch 12CK and wow what a machine. My only real complaint is the small spindle bore. However metric threads are not in its vocabulary. The bonus was is came with a functional Newall DRO.
LOL. I was once enamoured with the 12CK myself. But I am not sure I still feel that way. Between the small spindle bore and the inability to run the spindle in reverse, I am not sure that will be my future lathe anymore. I love the look of them, and I especially love vintage machines, but now I am having second thoughts.
@@MyLilMule I've thought about something like a Okuma LS but they tend to sell well. And I'm well cheap 😂
@@mabmachine I'm still partial to vintage US made machines.
@MyLilMule just get the 12CK. You'll love it and work past it's short comings. It will make you think outside the box, making you a better machinist.
@@TopperMachineLLC It's still on the top of my list. I haven't come up with an alternative that fits my "must haves".
You looking for a bigger lathe now?
I will, some day, be looking for a more rigid gear head lathe.
One hell of a crossover episode. Mr. Peanutbutter would be jealous if he was real.
