If you want, this is the story of Sonic Omens in short. It's supposed to explain why the Chaos Emeralds are not used in Sonic games anymore. (Even tho they were used in Generations) this is all happening sometime after the events of Unleashed where Tails got a memo from news about Eggman stealing Chaos Emerald again. But in Area 99, the Emeralds were doing this lighthouse thing that is suppose to bring Omens I guess? (Those big monsters you were fighting against) and they're doing it if they feel in danger. Game's explanation, not mine. After defeating Eggman's Metal Ember you realise he was trying to protect them from Exiled. Trying to collect them to destroy them to get back home. Also Shadow is here too... OH WAIT! I forgot Shadow. He's working with Exiled because he has constantly some visions about Maria and he was supposed to help him to get rid of them, but he double cross him I think? (I didn't really understand this part tbh) After the fake promise, Sonic was just happening to be on top of the building where Exiled destroyed those Emeralds (they're gone at this point) to open a portal to get home, but Shadow was still able to make Chaos Spear somehow and Chip somehow absorb the Chaos energy even tho they were already gone? And also this game is somehow linked with Sonic X series where two world were connected into one thanks to Chris and Exiled, but because of the jumping between these two world in Season 3, Chris had only 15 years to live. That's about it before you get into final boss. Or before you edit it out. Idk if you still tried to beat him after the video or just straight up left. I want to say at the end that the story really doesn't make sense and trying to explain why Chaos Emerald are not used anymore is kinda pointless when you consider you were always fighting against Eggman at the end up until Sonic Forces.
The true sign of the hubris of Sonic fans is the fact that they'll constantly say that the boost formula is not sustainable, then all the 3D fangames are exclusively boost formula
I hate the amount of hate this game gets. Not only did I not run in too any of the issues people were talking about but I also beat most of the levels pretty fast and I beat the final boss in one go. The fact I was able to do better than most grown adults is wild
Cool, but I don't think your experience invalidates any arguments made against this game. I gave it a shot too as a *non* grown adult and encountered my own fair share of issues. It wasn't an enjoyable experience in the least, ranging tediously mediocre to just plain awful (only my opinion for the record). I don't think this has anything to do with skill because I've been playing games better than this, better than this game, since I was young. If anything, I'm glad your experience wasn't entirely horrible, but it sure as hell speaks volumes that it was for a lot of other people

Now it’s true OMENING TIME 😈 1:36 the way I see it and I’ve sat on this for a LONG time… yes the latter half of the game sucks and it’s actually horrible, BUT much like how you said their was no replay ability with this game, this stage is a huge example, there’s a lot of reused designs and stuff, and it makes memorizing stages easy, but it’s not fun to memorize LAZY design, and I think SA2 sorta suffers the same fate and the linearity makes it boring and kinda bad, I know this will sound CRAZY but I like having stages that are open and explorable to an extent. 8:42 and I think that’s why I love boost formula, especially because it makes memorizing stages more fun and satisfying. I've always had a problem with people saying that you can't enjoy a Sonic game if you don't replay. I agree to an extent that replaying a stage is good for enjoyment, but can't stand when that's only applied to some games. People will tell me to replay Death Chamber and Eternal Engine to like it better since I wasn't good enough to enjoy them the first time, but these same people won't give a game like Sonic CD or Shadow the Hedgehog an honest shot.

I think the real reason the level drags compared to Let’s say aquatic mine is one Frustration when a level is super frustrating you want it over with which makes every minute feel like a drag 2 The multiple characters in P06 add variety 3rd repetition in longer classic stages there exists multiple gimmicks the game will test you on this keeps levels fresh but in this stage you do the same thing like 3 times Kill the metarex destroy the generator then some boosting and platforming 2 3rds of that is so repetitive.
I was too busy listening to your discussion at the same time actually being impressed with the way you're handling the stage to do a timestamp. But I'm going to disagree with you on that time discussion a good example of the length that you are talking about is Sonic Unleashed with has a similar length to heroes and 06 on a casual play through of the day times stages 1st time play through 10:40 I want you to go play crazy Gadget right now.
