I've had the same Kenmore electric dryer for 30 years that was bought used, all I've ever done is replace 2 drum wheels around 10 years ago and do periodic cleanings, no other issues at all.
We have the Maytag Neptune …. the model proceeding the Bravo . I just replaced the seals, rear rollers, drive pulley and idler too. Ours was electric but it didn't take more than an hour to do the entire job . This is an easy job that will save you hundreds of repair dollars doing it yourself. RUclips have many videos on this subject . I was drinking Hamm's as you the completed this job , Taryl .
Taryl you gave the game away at 6.07 and you realised it. There was a very long pause when you realised you said “our” dryer. Keep em coming and stay safe over there Regards Stuart from across the big pond NE UK 👍
Thank you Mr Dactyl, another great fix video. I don't care what it is that you're fixing, as long as you film it, I'll watch it. Keep up the good work!
You are truly a gentleman and a scholar. It's been about 40 years since I've been into a dryer. Haven't changed much except my new one is computer controlled.
I've done that job. Hardest part is to figure out where to put the disassembled pieces. On mine one of the wheels was seized on its shaft and out of round, I used acetone to break the glue seal on felt gasket. That glue they give you with the kit is outstandingly adhesive. I still have the tube 8 years later and use it for all sorts of gluing applications. Nice job Taryl!
Congratulations on the RUclips, 100k subscribers plaque. My grandsons (11 and 9 yrs old now) have really enjoyed watching them together these past couple of years or so as we work on various projects. They both will throw in a, ‘and there’s your dinner’ occasionally, lol. Thank you and all the crew for all the effort, work and great content you provide. Continued success to you all. Stay safe.
At 12:48 that little nylon spacer actually goes on the outside of the idler wheel so it doesn't rub directly on the retaining clip. When you put the wheel back on you turned it around. You can tell by the black rubber mark around the outer edge of the wheel. It was on the outside when you took it off & on the inside when you put it back on.
A nice enjoyable DIY video, it's sure to help a lot people in the future. My old Sears dryer is over 30 years old and still on the original belt and seals, but a couple of sets of rollers along the way, I had to clean the gas valve once and I think that needs doing again. I sprayed the seals with silicon lubricant when I had it apart last time. I'll be lucky if I don't have to replace the belt sometime this week since I posted this (knock on wood). I think I heard or saw that dryer fires are the number one reason for fires in the home, from built up lint.
My ex had a dog grooming shop and has a front loader washer and I did the boot inbetween the drum and door and it was easy to get the old boot off but back on was a pain in the a$$. Other than that it was easy. Most appliance's are easy to repair. Really there is not much on the inside of any of them stoves included. Hot Water tanks (not gas ones) are stupid easy. I can completely rebuild the entire electrical on a hot water tank in 20 min. Seriously if you are having an issue with your hot water tank watch a video and do it yourself. For under a hundred bucks you can have hot water again. Good job Taryl
One very important step. After hooking the flexible gas line back up to the dryer. Spray soapy water around the fitting and make sure you do not see ANY bubbles. If you don't see any bubbles this can prevent a gas leak.
Love your videos Taryl!!! Entertaining, informative, funny, great characters, thanks for teaching us all! Got my "fix" of Taryl fixes all .... and there's my dinner!!!!
The one step that really helps dryer efficiently when its cleaned is to take the time to access and clean the blower wheel of lint , its a little more work to access the blower wheel but one will be surprised how much lint gets built up on the vanes of the blower and it really reduces the Air the blower can move ..
Taryl. If you ever work on a gas appliance look over the flexible gas line for damage. If it's an older line that is not plastic coated I would recommend you replace it for safety sake. Stuff gets on the bare metal lines and can corrode a hole through the line and cause a leak. I've had a line on my gas stove and gas dryer that developed a leak where something got on the bare metal and caused corrosion and started leaking. I worked at The Hoover Company when Maytag bought us. Then Whirlpool bought us (Hoover and Maytag). Whirlpool didn't want Hoovers so they sold Hoovers to Techtronic Industries (China) and now Hoovers is no more in the USA and I work for someone else.
Te fuiste más haya del problema ,posiblemente el cliente no regrese pronto porque todo quedó al cien 💯, buena explicación, le daré mantenimiento a mi secadora
I had that same washer/dryer set until recently. Had the bearings go bad on the washer twice. Sounded like a jet engine on the spin cycle. Replaced them myself the first time. Two years later they failed again. Went out and got a new washer and dryer. Never had a problem with the dryer though.
Here in Windsor, Ontario, Canada there are parts stores that have closed sales to the DIYer and that makes getting parts hard to find. I have to order them in the USA and get them shipped to a P. O. Box in Detroit and then pick them up there. What a pain.
Loved the video i use to do appliance repair back in the day at a local store i loved the work an meeting the people..brought back some good memories.....howdy from tennessee..
I worked for Lowe's over 30 years ago as appliance dept. head. Maytag reps. would come, take a quarter on edge and beat the crap out of the top of Maytag washers and dryers to show their durability. Said it was titanium dioxide porcelain and was super tough. Don't know if that's true today, but those WERE well made.
great job and this absolutely would be the best way to do it for someone who has never done it before but having worked in the appliance field for a few years I can tell you that 99% of appliance techs would never need to remove the back to connect that belt. I would always completely remove that lint screen housing and reach my right hand back there next to the pulley while holding the drum with my left, once the belt is set correctly the drum will rest well enough to get the front cap back on and then assemble the front but of course after you do it a few hundred times its super easy lol. Just wait till the nut comes loose and the belt pulley falls off that Bravos washer, you'll have another fun project.
I want to thank you I had a problem with the same dryer. The pulley kept spinning off of the dryer blower. I watched a video of how you can twist the belt the other way and it spins the opposite direction work for me thanks a lot
Something to mention in the name of safety, appliances like this are full of lots of extremely sharp, stamped steel parts. You have to be very cautious where and what you put your hands on or rub your hands over, you will get cut very easily.
Outstanding video Taryl. I can't believe how cheesy Maytag makes dryers now that is so sad to watch in this video,it's built like a child's toy inside with a tin box around it. I still have my mom and dad's commercial Maytag washer and dryer from 1976 and nothing is ever been replaced on either one of those machines, they both average about two loads of laundry a week and they were built back in 1976.(44 years old) The belt that runs my dryer is identical to one that runs a supercharger on a top fuel dragster, it's a big geared belt that's about 3 in wide, with 1 inch long teeth and it's never been replaced. The belt pulleys are machined stainless steel.
If you think this design is cheesy, look inside a Junk Electric dryer (GE). They don't use idler wheels on the door side of the drum. Just a plastic slide bearing (?). Piss poor, but I have to admit, it will run for a long time before the front bearing (?) wears through and it starts squealing.
Stoppin' here for right now at almost the 8 minute mark with a question. Even if we diligently clean out our lint slot, are there other ways to prevent lint build-up inside the dryer to prevent a fire from starting? Getting ready to watch again...I could be back with more questions. :)
I spose since everyone is fixing the stuff they put off; I just changed the drum roller wheels, idler and belt on my Kenmore dryer this morning. PartsTree wanted $54.00 + shipping, Amazon, was a fuzz under $29.00 OEM Whirlpool parts to the door. Ordered Thursday about 7:30 pm, in my hand Saturday, at 12:15. OEM, just like your stuff , just different. That stuff isn’t lint, it’s Juniors worn out socks I actually had to remove the back panel and the lint chute, the lint filter doesn’t catch the heavy stiff. Go ahead and give the old girl a reach around
I always love your videos thank you very much very informative and very entertaining as always. I hope you and all those close to you are doing very well good luck and God bless.
im sure it has been mentioned,, adding any oil to the wheels or idler is kinda bad, will be back in there cleaning and replacing them within a year or 2, lint attracts to the oil. leave them clean, but dry. other than that,,, great job!
Hey Taryl--Carla has nice teeth--a keeper for sure--good luck on your next date-extra points starting out--probably won"t be your last service call with BOB and his hat around LOL
Let’s not forget the channel is called Taryl Fixes All 👍🏻 Dont waste your time messing with those junk appliances get a SpeedQueen they are made like the old ones were Quality
I am in south carolina and i have never seen a natural gas powered clothes dryer. down hear you see gas powered water heaters and a maybe a stove here and there but most stuff is just straight electric. i just found out they had gasoline powered washing machines back in the day from Taryl.
Put 2 drops of synthetic motor oil on the bearings. Synthetic grease will work too, since it won't dry out with age. Dry metal on dry metal after years of running is a bad idea.

I cut an access door in the right side towards the rear in my gas dryers to get to motor ,pulley, and to clean it out. Works great . Love the channel
My man taryl fixes all is a understatement great video my friend stay safe God bless you and your family

Nice of her to make him Dinner...Wonder what she gave him for Desert..
Taryl, try some turbine oil on dryer dumb rollers , it doesn`t get gummy. Great Video!!!
Great vid just replaced both seals on mine, no issues! Thank u
I almost lost it when you spun the dryer on the wood floor. I work in houses everyday and some home owners freak out.
It's a laminate floor. I use a fluffy bath mat upside down to slide stuff on my hardwood floor.

Hey Taryl 😎. Thank you for the video 🤙
Outstanding video Taryl.

@@quantumleap359 This is a standard Whirlpool/Kenmoor dryer design since Maytag was bought out by Whirlpool. Hey; if it works it works.
Now there’s your Laundry.
Lol

I just replaced the belt on my White/Westinghouse I bought new in 1983. The back has to come off on mine, but it's pretty much the same set up.
I love your videos. Thank you for making them, best of wishes to all.

what were the symptoms of seal failure?
She must be taryl boss. Lol thanks for the video sir. Enjoyed it👍👍👍
Should have checked exhaust piping. When they clogged dryer will cycle on and off and take a long time to dry clothes
I always love your videos thank you very much very informative and very entertaining as always. I hope you and all those close to you are doing very well good luck and God bless.
YEAAAAHHH!!! Tary Wii u put out new videos in 2023
Taryl. Does fix. It all 😆 this should also apply to electric dryers also
Hey bubba, did I miss it,what kinda glue was that
Kinda refreshing to see a different type of repair aside from mowers......
Taryl, did you find any "slippers" in that dryer when you cleaned out the lint? Enjoyed the video. Thanks!
if Jed Clampett 's not available, can we use elly may ?
I did all this last fall. Had to replace a turbine wheel with the hub cracked out of it. While I had it apart I did everything taryl did.
Is that the turbo model? My favorite tools - left hand crescent wrenches! Hog jowls and possum inerds hmm!
if the toilet back up that was hilarious !
Three manly men use it, and one feminine woman. No wonder it quit working
Always informative and entertaining.........
Thanks so much for new vid taryl
Merry Christmas fellas
Another excellent job by you
Yes, I've gotten the small ones who are like that are a Brown !

I have that exact same brown Trimline. Bob should have been helping you - that no good excuse for a man and generally a sad sack. Informative video.
I've always wondered if there's a Mrs. Dactyl or Girlysaur of interest. Somebody has got to clean up after you and carry out the Hamm's cans!
If so, she should be Terri Dactyl or Polly Dactyl (with six fingers on each hand there)! LOL
Deanie Clark

Metric or US crescent wrenches?
I learned something. Thank you.
Man, had the same dryer. Paid over 900.00 dollars for it. Never seem to get hot enough. Ended up getting rid of it!
very nice work indeed
Fantastic video

Hi taryl. Do you know what WD40 was invented for and what the active ingredient is?
When do you know when the seals are bad ? Thanks.
RDF when it doesn’t get hot enough and takes for ever to dry clothes
@@millerslawnservice7656 OK thanks
Looks like a 28 inch Whirlpool dryer . That model variant has been around many years. Plenty of parts for it.
I never understood why they ever invented a dryer that burns a hot flame around combustible stuff that you put in your house..
Welp , that flame is used to dry your clothes. People don’t want to be inconvenienced by using a “safe” cloths line.
People do not understand how flamable that lint is. Take some outside in a safe area and light it you will see.
really fixes all this taryl 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
Fantastic channel and I know you guys work in a shop but you should really do something about your hair.
Your the man!
Another perfect repair
