- British Airways London City to Edinburgh. Join me for a trip report vlog. Let's travel British Airways on an Embraer 190 from London City to Edinburgh.
It's 19 months since my last flight to London and there have been lots of changes at LCY. Let's check out the new gate seating areas and retail outlets. And the new parallel taxiway.
The Embraer 190 is my favourite short-haul aircraft. On 2x2 seating and good legroom.
And the take-off is really steep. The pilot has to keep the breaks on whilst the engines throttle up so there's enough power to lift off the short runway and clear the local buildings.

Cool video, recognisable (you filmed the Embraer 190 from where I sat yesterday :) ! Did the LCY - RTM flight yesterday , wow yes spectacular take-off exactly as you describe. Was positively surprised by BA too, plenty legroom and on the 35 minute flight even a drink and a snack served!
Thanks very much. Glad you had a good flight. I believe BA is going to add more seats to the EMB190s so the seat pitch is about to get tighter, unfortunately.

Fantastic! Love that short take-off! I'm in London on Wednesday, so have taken your advice and booked 25D on what will be my first time into and out of LCY. Can't wait!

@@RogEdwardsTV My next booked flight is in January; from Manchester to San Diego, via New York with Aer Lingus and American Airlines. I haven't flown in two years so am very excited. I might do a domestic flight to Inverness if work allows in the meantime.
I’ve yet to book an international flight - but expect that will happen in 2022. San Diego is definitely in my bucket list! 👊🏻

They are great aren’t they? Do you think they are the best for short flights? Better than the A320 and B737?
@@RogEdwardsTV The size of the aircarft depends on the # of passenger for that location. Embraer 190 is great for short and mid flights, but the cost is low if you compare with the cost of a 737 or A320
@@RogEdwardsTV Yes. Flew from Warsaw to Istanbul on one last year. Great aircraft. 2 + 2. I had someone next to me but we had enough room.

No such thing as a "British" accent and colloquial expressions vary widely in different parts of the country.
Did this very same route yesterday - but started at Monument for the DLR as it removes a lot of the underground walk from Bank (even though technically they are classed as different stations they are all part of the same complex, its confusing). Think thats only my 5th time at City and it's always been pleasant - Covid had certainly reduced passenger numbers this time round but I did really love the legroom and recognising Morecombe out of the window at one point.

I’ve always been curious about London City Airport, never flown into or out of there.
+Maulin Agrawal They’ve made some huge improvements to the terminal - and because it’s no where near as busy as it was pre-pandemic - now would be a good time to try it out!

Thanks John. Flights at peak times can be £300+ (higher in Club Europe Business class which is a bit pointless) - as they tap into the bank travellers going into the City of London. Off peak fares are more reasonable! 😀

At about 4:20 when the aircraft is revving the engines before takeoff, what are the rounded buildings to the right of the plane? I noticed these when we took a flight from LCY to GLA last September. Are they offices? Flats? They seem way to close to the runways to be very desirable...
University buildings I believe. Very close but great for plane spotters! They must have sound-proofing?

Yep! One of my favourite airliners! Haven’t tried one of the Embraer 195-E2s yet but they look impressive with the bigger engines.
