Hi all welcome back to another video Dereck Reacts back at it again! This time around we take a look at another Dalida reaction made possible by PATREON with her version of "Je Suis Malade." Dalida gets me really emotional with this song, full with pure deep vibrato and control. I was surprised to see her sing this live amazing! See my full reaction now!

@@Coco-Dalida NO COVER, PLEASE! HE REPEATED IT ENOUGH!
If you want another surprise with something unexpected you have to choose "GIGI L AMOROSO " a huge international hit in the mid 70's !The song is very long and it's a like a play ,it's very theatrical and it shows she's clearly italian lol .Another choice would be "MOURIR SUR SCENE" in 1983 iconic song but you have to understand the lyrics (and don't forget she deals with suicide attempt in 1967 to understand the power of the song). It's hard to choose she has so many hits in french ,italian ,arabic etc .
Hi Derek, i suggest to you the song Il venait d'avoir 18 ans with english subtitles. The song ties with yet another tragic event in her life, an abortion that she had and left her barren after an affair with a younger man. It is a Dalida classic and the story is very personal and authentic for her, just like Mourir sur scene with multilanguage subtitles, these songs speak about her life and are very personal and I think you would understand and apreciate them better if you would do some research about her life. Great job!
Mourir sur scène. is definitly the best one (in my opinion of course ^^)
Unfortunately she wasn't acting..... She was living that sadness... We hear all that depth in her voice... I was a little girl. Today I hear those words and understand them... Dalida was fantastic
Dalida will never forget...
She was an extraordinary singer and performer. She lived her songs.
Dalida will never forget...
Dalida was a beautiful person. Beautiful deep voice. She would "act" her songs. Very deep, thoughtful and caring. And very lonely. So much so that she committed suicide. But she left us magnificent performances and heartfelt songs. Some of my favorites are "Il venait d'avoir 18 ans", "Avec le temps", "Mourir sur scene". She's got many others. A great experience each time.
She was an actress in Egypt so she also act her songs.I think it's because of that, might be
I love Dalida ❤️
her life was a tragedy... she performed this song like this.
Dalida was an institution. Not just for France but internationally.
Dear Derek, this sing is a classic in the french "repertoire" ! And Dalida was a beautiful and a great artist. She was born in Egypt (italian origin) . She was Miss Egypt too (she always was superbe 😍). She lived for the show. She was an actress too. She decided to leave... 😓 But with you and many others, she is still in our heart 🙏🙏😍😍💐💐 Thanks so much for your channel 😍💐💐💐
She doesn't create drama in the performance.
Her life IS a drama.
Her life, her loves, all of this things are pure TRAGEDY.
Rest in Peace Queen.
Inclassable. Dalida est inimitable. Superbe femme ,elle a tant souffert 🥲
Thanks dereck 💙
This is her real full amazing hair ! She was so ahead of her time. Dalida's hair was an entire part of her way to sing and express herself. She used to touch it, to strock and to lift it while singing and dancing. Totally mesmerizing ! She grew up in Egypt. The way she moved, she acted was very inspired by this country.
Emotional... And when you know about her tragic life, you also listen to her differently and can hear, feel, she takes out her guts during this performance, nevermind if her voice breaks that's what creates such a deep and strong thrill...
Born in Egypt, she has Arabic songs as well, very memorably "Helwa ya baladi" (My beautiful country) She has a series of Italian songs as well because he was of Italian origin.
The story of her life in a nutshell. What a tormented soul she was.
i am so happy that you discovered Dalida, one of the greatest artists of all time
Hello Dereck, alalala our beautiful Dalida without extension indeed, when i was young, her dresses and her hair made me dream, she is a siren of Alexandria with a golden voice ... kiss from France
She is from Cairo not Alexandria!!
We saw that you almost cried.
The effect of this song on you was incredible.
I love Lara's version but Dalida's version is full of heart, pain and sadness she can express all her soul and feelings through the song. That is why this is the best version!
Ok incredible i'm crying right now
Another song full of émotion : "Gigi
l amoroso' she performed it as she acted in a movie.
No extensions in her hair, only color not natural.
Dalida for ever 💚⭐💚
Thank you for making us aware that we French are lucky to also have a very honorable culture, which can make us very proud
Hello Dereck, Serge Lama is the very first singer of this song
Her life was a movie ! She was so successful (career : 33 years 1954-87), but so lonely. Her personal life was kind of dramatic. The icon committed suicide leaving a note that said "life’s unbearable to me, forgive me". Every body knows Dalida in France.
More of Dalida:
Mourir sur scène
Gigi l'amoroso
Comme disait Misstinguet
Il venait d'avoir 18 ans
" Il venait d'avoir 18 ans " deep lyrics
"Mourir sur scène" c'est vraiment poignant
Yes, but quite boring guys. I mean they aren't catchy.
Oui oui oui dereck yoûve got ton react to these ones.
Dalida had that extraordinary intelligence & ability to embrace a huge range of genres without ever being out of place. She went from light songs to deep emotional songs to glittery disco with backup dancers, a true all round entertainer. It'sso sad that her personal life was so tragic
Dalida was one of the greatest of the greats.
It' was her real hair.... She was a Diva !
Dalida was an italian singer, born in Egypt, and lived in France for a big part of her life. When she sang you could hear her beautiful italian accent. She was huge in France and a great performer. Great you listening to her!
Yes and no, she was born and grow up in Egypt, where she became Miss Egypt and where she started her career. So therefore she is an Egyptian, with a career in France and with Italian roots… in that order.
@@Valerie-gn1rr Egypt was never colonized by Italy, only Britain.
@@sharkshalaby Yes, you're right. My mistake. However, the Italian community was very important in Egypt, and they actually were in Egypt long time before the British colonised it. And Dalida spoke Italian with her family; Here's a reminder for the italians presence in Egypt. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Italian_Egyptians
@@Tahia213 No, being born in a country doesn't always make you a national of the country. She never had the egyptian nationality, although her roots were there. And her mother tongue was italian, not arabic. But of course, Egypt was important to her, your birth country always is.
It's more emotional when you know her story and all the tragedies she has lived
I discovered this live thanks to you!
That was a moment!
Yes, she have extensions ; her voice is the extension of her soul in this song 😢
No extension at this time
For all her 54 years, she never had extensions in hair!
I’m glad you have discovered Dalida. So many more great songs of her to discover. Enjoy
Dalida was a true interpret, no-one put that much personal emotions while singing. For similar emotions please check a live version of Gigi l'amoroso.
Oh merci Dereck

Yes ! One of the best version of this song. Pure emotion like she sings with her bleeding heart.
she is famous with her disco songs but also with her emotional songs too.
You should listen "Mourir sur scene" "Il venait d'avoir 18 ans"
Her hair was always fully natural except the dye. She first went blonde, for a short period, on 4 august 1964 at a famous hairdresser in Nice, for an unfinished movie in Spain. Later in 1968 she ultimately re-adopted blonde, keeping it until her death in 1987.
my favorite singer forever
THIS SONG WAS REFLECTING HER STATE AT THAT TIME ......... TRUE PERFORMANCE GENIUEN FEELING .....DALIDA (BIG LOVE)
Great choice ! I don't think I've had ever view this live performance before... I guess it was a very deeply personnal song for her since at the time of this performance, she had already lost two of her great love by suicide (and a third was coming in 1983 !)... imagine... Anyway she was a great performer with emotionnal songs, always completely into it.
Amazing and a little bit scary that Dalida can still captivate another generation of music fans 34 years after her death and without needing the modern auto-tune so many others use. Dali reaches out from beyond the grave even to those of us who can't speak French. Nevertheless we still feel the power and mystique of this tragic figure. And now Dereck is hooked too. Dalida is forever.
I adore her guys!❤❤❤
She was son gifted.
She was unique.
Her voice was incredible.
Thanks Dereck🙂😉😊
She was really « malade »
She was an angel

Avec le temps… by Dalida, it is beautiful.
Incredible performance
Dalida the best for ever ❤❤❤
dalida my love cant event show how much i love her
Please react to "Mourir sur scène", "Il venait d'avoir 18 ans" and "Gigi l'amoroso" !!! Great songs from Dalida
she was really able to capture the scene, no more like Dalida! No more!
surprised that it almost moved you to tears yet it did not get your seal of approval!
He give it at the very last end of the video. (If it's not general part of hes videos ends)
Dalida era una grande interprete ❤
In one of the movies made about her life, this song was used in the final scene where she ends her life. Dalida sang so many songs about love and pain and I think the fact she truly felt all that pain is what made them sound so amazing. Yet sometimes I wish she had less of these sad and painful, yet amazing songs, and instead that she was still around today.
Check out "Avec le temps" and "Pour ne pas vivre seul" also amazing emotional songs. Le sixieme jour is also good but was her very last song.
And for Disco I recommend Gigi in Paradisco. The perfomance is a huge spectacle.
She was a Diva!¡
Dereck
UNIQUE INÉGALABLE comme PIAF BARBARA
R.I.P. beautiful Dalida ♥️
pure émotion!!!
Aww i cant believe you posted in french. You didn't even have to do it but it moved me, awww
So beautiful you must absolutely listen « Gigi l’amoroso »
She suffered so much in her life. It doesn't look like it when you see her dance on disco, but when you hear that, you understand how sad she was. She unfortunately put an end to her life, which makes it even more dramatic. She was beautiful, an icon in France, even though she was Italian, born in Egypt just like Claude François. No extensions in those years! Her hair was dark, not blond, originally. I always looked at her as a Barbie doll when I was a little girl! Check out Serge Lama's original version, it's nice to hear it sung by a man.
You should react to all Dalida songs. Many of them are covers but her versions are consistently the BEST
Merci très émouvant !
❤❤❤❤
❤❤❤ Dali à jamais dans nos cœurs
Jadore dalida cest ma chanteuse préférée !! Favorit signer
It’s her real hair she didn’t have extensions
She was a great popular singer in France
She committed suicide in 1987
YES FINALLY THANK YOUUU
It's heartbreaking. Her life was heartbreaking. What a beautiful but tortured /sad woman 🥺She commited suicide in 87. Please react to "Mourir sur Scène"
Dalida was one of the sexiest woman at the time, her voice, her sensuality, her emotions/passion.... Loved by millions of fans around the world (specially in France, Italy and Egypt where she grew up). She had such a disasterous love life tho, just like Édith Piaf. Although she was such a talented artist / superstar she couldn't achieve happiness because each man Dalida ever loved ended up dying (by a sudden accident or suicide) to the point where she convinced herself that she was cursed & wouldn't be able to be loved ever, that's why she took her own life 😔🥺 So... some of the lyrics she sings ("Je suis malade", "Pour ne pas vivre seule", "Mourrir sur scène")... that's her true pain right there. 😢
Oh so cool you got to Dalida. i think she had some english and sang on US Tv
Dalida is in a league of her own
U may also listen to her “Comment faire pour oublier” or “Avec le temps”. Really strong as well.
HI Dereck, Brravo for your job ! Try "Dans la ville endormie " from Dalida. The future James bond song, it's Super . She's always with us.. Try too, "The fool" from Gilbert Montagnė"
An incridible song. Belle continuation 😉
More you will discover all hers songs and more you will fall in love with her and her voice.
She’s Egyptian queen 👑
One of the best song in France
Hi Dereck ! Listen to the remix of "Salma ya salama", it's oriental and dancing : Dalida - Salma Ya Salama (Sueño Flamenco ) (VJ Zenman Arabian Dream Video Mix)
It's a song about losing the will to live over grief. Nobody understood it like she did. Missing her.
I just saw her biopic... Poor woman
Thank you for that reaction, Dereck. That song is so emotional... Dalida was really so talented 😍 You should definitely react to the original by Serge Lama.
Serge Lama sang for the first time , " Je suis malade ". It is really a depressive song ! Each time I listen to it on Internet , I cry two hours. Sometimes more !

DALIDA, la última gran Diva Francesa. ( origen egipcio ).
2 calificativos para definir la vida de Dalida :
ARTISTA GENIAL 👏👏👏
MUJER DESGRACIADA 😔😪
Dereck! Dalida was Egyptian Italian and sang in 8 languages
She tried 2x to kill herself in the ladder she succeeded
She has a few documentary movies on her life on you tube.
In short all the special men in her life (I think 4)
incredibly committed suicide or died, so she felt damned and eventually took her life
She was famous for 30 years like madonna ,
R.i.p she was incredibly talented and successful but terribly unhappy
Cheers DALIDA!!
I love her but she is incomparable to Madonna, she is totally unknown in English-speaking countries.

Hi Dereck,
Dalida's version is nice, very nice but I prefer the original one which is sung by Serge Lama (a beautiful low note voice).
I listened recently to Lama’s performance and I agree: he is the song.
Hi Dereck, I thought I'd mention that Serge Lama is not dead as you said at 10:15. His wife, however passed in 2016, and they were indeed still married.
